Idle Clans (Idle MMORPG) update - Carpentry skill expansion, social updates & systems overhaul

It has been longer than usual since the last update, and as a result, here comes probably our biggest update to date!

Lots of additions and QoL improvements in this one, but the two major points of focus were:

  • Expanding the Carpentry skill to provide more utility beyond just plank creation for clan housing
  • Expanding and improving our social systems to better connect with other players

Ended up doing a lot more than that though. To not create a huge post here, I'll link the full patch notes separately if you want to dig deeper into them. Here's a TLDR:

  • Carpentry expansion
  • Friends system
  • Milestone system for friends and clan members
  • New and improved chat
  • Character and clan renaming
  • All potions tweaked to only have their timers decreased when in active use
  • Combat auto-sell/auto-sacrifice
  • A sophisticated push notification system to receive more robust notifications about your character's progress and real-time changes (such as your player market offers updating, receiving private messages and so on)

The full patch notes can be found on our subreddit here.

Another thing I spent time on during the summer was reworking our website - which was pretty much just a landing page with a trailer and links to download the game - to a proper website with game tools & calculators, real-time game feeds, leaderboards, guides, player market insights and so on. Unable to link it here due to Reddit's filters but should be easy to find if you're interested.

If you're unfamiliar with Idle Clans, it's an MMORPG released in 2023 with tens of thousands of weekly players. The core goal is to provide the classic MMORPG experience in a way that doesn't require the time commitment that MMORPGs normally do. Systems and content you'd expect to see in a MMORPG, but in a format that allows you to progress at your own pace without feeling like you're being inefficient. Good second monitor content or on-the-go. The inspiration from my all-time favourite game, RuneScape, is probably quite clear. If you're also a fan, you'll probably enjoy Idle Clans too.

Our wiki contributors have done an incredible job and our wiki has grown to contain a huge amount of helpful information and data. You'll definitely want to spend time there if you pick Idle Clans up!

Idle Clans is free-to-play and available on SteamGoogle Play and App Store. The game has no ads and is monetized via tokens can be purchased from the game shop. These tokens can be activated for permanent benefits. They can also be bought from the player market with in-game gold.

[DEV] I added some highly requested features to my idle MMORPG

Hey everyone!

I've posted the last couple of updates here to more interest than I dared hoped for, so I thought I'd keep it up for as long as there is interest for our updates and development.

This update, I set out to implement a few things that have been requested by the community for a long time:

  • Combat loadouts with auto-equipping. This gets requested so often that it has basically become a meme on our Discord. The suggestion post for combat loadouts is the most upvoted suggestion we've had - by far.
  • Group ironman mode changes to make the game mode a bit more forgiving. Previously, you wouldn't be able to switch groups at all after joining one when creating a character. Now, you'll be to - but with consequences. The intended goal is still for players to remain in their initial group indefinitely and I want to discourage group switching as much as possible to keep things fair and competitive. So when leaving a group, the only thing you'll keep are your levels, enchantments you've managed to make as well as any game shop tokens and token unlocks. All of your items are otherwise lost
  • Clan vault management improvements. Previously, clan leaders could choose to give members access to the shared clan vault or not - either members had access to all clan vault items, or none. This made the decision to give out vault permissions quite a consequential one. Now, your clan vault is split into 4 different tiers and you can give your clan members access only to certain tiers. Helps keep your highly valued items out of the hands of everyone and also makes it a bit more pleasant to keep your vault organized

A bunch more smaller changes in the update, but I'll spare you the details on those. You can check out the full patch notes on our subreddit if you're interested!

To celebrate our group ironman mode changes and to help old and new group ironmen get a little kickstart in their new groups, an XP boost has been activated for the game mode for the remainder of the week. It's active right now.

A brief overview of Idle Clans if you're unfamiliar:

Idle Clans is a frequently updated casual cross-platform MMORPG that focuses on the core aspects that make MMORPGs fun. There are a bunch of skills to train, a player economy to take part in, hundreds of unique items to discover, bosses and raids to defeat, leaderboards, clan competitions and much more. Familiar and rewarding grinds that you're used to in MMORPGs, without the ludicrous time commitments. Great on the go, or as second monitor content when you're playing your main MMORPG. Heavily inspired by my all time favourite game, RuneScape. You'll definitely notice the influence and if you're also a fan, I'm confident you'll enjoy Idle Clans as well!

We're planning to leave Steam Early Access this summer. To try and make a bit of a spectacle out of it, we'll set up our first ever bonus experience event (apart from the separate seasonal events and the above GIM-specific XP boost) and in-game token sale.

Idle Clans can be played on Google Play, Steam and App Store.
