Coming from BG3 and feeling completely overwhelmed. Need a beginner-friendly Ice/Cold build (Witch/Shaman)!

I just started playing and honestly, the character creation and mechanics are making my brain melt. It’s so overwhelming compared to Baldur's Gate 3!

In D&D 5e, my favorite classes are Warlock and Druid. For this game, I really want to build a character focused on Ice/Cold magic, and from what I've gathered, Witch or Shaman seem to fit that vibe perfectly (and they give me those Warlock/Druid feelings).

Since it's my first time playing, I’m looking for a beginner-friendly build guide or just some solid advice to get me through the early game.

In summary, I’d love to play something that lets me freeze enemies and do decent damage without bricking my character by act 2. Thanks in advance for the help!

Looking for my next game after BG3 and Dos2

Hey guys,

So, I'm kind of in a weird spot. I've put over 1,000 hours into Baldur's Gate 3—I've done tons of runs, experimented with all kinds of builds, and messed around with mods quite a bit. Before that, I played and finished Divinity: Original Sin 2, which I also really liked.

Even though I have a ton of hours into these two, I still feel like a complete newbie to the broader CRPG genre. I want to jump into a new game, but I'm looking for something that still offers that deep tactical combat and good character progression. I'm on PC and I think I don't mind reading or dealing with complex rules.

Right now, I'm mostly looking at three options:

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous (The sheer amount of classes and paths looks insane).

Pillars of Eternity (The world looks cool, though I'm curious about how the combat feels compared to BG3).

Solasta: Crown of the Magister (I heard the tactical combat and D&D 5e implementation are top-tier).

Which one do you think I should pick up next? If you recommend Pathfinder or Pillars, should I go straight to the sequels or start with the first ones?

Edit: Well guys.. thank you so much for sharing your opinions, you all have a lot to say <3 as I said, I'm gonna try to get comfortable with Pathfinder WoTR first and see what happens, but you are so passionate that I had my ideas changing whenever I read other recommendations!

How is Enemies reworked? (mod. io)

Hi everyone,

​I’m looking to spice up my next run and I’m considering adding Enemies Reworked. I want to move away from mods that just buff HP/AC and instead focus on enemies having better tools to feel more dangerous.

​My planned setup:

​Tactician Enhanced

​Extra Encounters and Mini Bosses

​Running on the Honour ruleset

​I know Enemies Reworked doesn't touch base stats or HP, but focuses on giving enemies new actions, spells, and consumables (like special arrows and potions).

​My main concerns:

​The "Arrow Spam" issue: I’ve read some comments saying that by Act 3, the amount of special arrows enemies fire at you can feel a bit forced or overwhelming. Does it feel like a tactical challenge, or does it become annoying/immersion-breaking?

​Difficulty Spike: How does the difficulty feel when combined with Extra Encounters? Does giving every extra enemy these new tools make the action economy feel impossible on the Honour ruleset?

​General Feel: Does it successfully make the combat feel fresh and "new," or do the added items just feel like clutter?

​I’d love to hear from anyone who has run this specific combo or used the mod deep into the late game. Thanks!
