Beginner...how to take it up a notch?

Beginner...how to take it up a notch?

I've been a video editor for decades. Recently I've posted 2 podcast animations: drawn with pencil on paper, scanned, cleaned up in Photoshop, animated in Premiere.

For the third, I thought I'd try to learn "real" 2D animation. I've started learning Blender (mainly to try some vfx) but it's a bit of a learning curve. I could try to learn OpenToonz or some other. Or, I could just stick with what I already know. I'm not planning to become an animator, I just like to expand my toolkit.

Recommendations/feedback much appreciated!

Compilation: all the videos

I was thinking of posting, JFTHOI, a compilation of all the videos The Pretzel Gang has referenced, if I can find them. Just off the top of my head:

Brushy One String

Business Lady How to Talk

Balegdah

Michael Jackson Dancing Robot Fail

55 Burgers 55 Fries

Mr. Microphone commercial

Muzzy commercial

Local regional ads they grew up with like "Unclaimed Freight! It's great!"

Has this been done? What other ones am I forgetting?

Grease Pencil / 2D : base color different in viewport?

Why is the base color not the same in the viewport?
I'm thinking it has to do with lighting in the 3D space, but this is for 2D animation (that's the setup I started with) I want flat color.
