YSK studying abroad after 12th is not an escape from competition
A lot of students think going abroad for bachelors automatically means less pressure and an easier life compared to India. But the reality is that the competition just becomes global.
You’re suddenly competing with top Indian students, locals who already understand the system, and international students who’ve had better exposure, extracurriculars, and networking since school. Add part time jobs, internships, visa pressure, loneliness, and financial stress on top of academics.
Studying abroad can absolutely be life changing, but going with the mindset that it’s an “easy way out” can become a huge shock later.
For every student posting aesthetic campus reels, there are many silently struggling behind the scenes.
People currently pursuing bachelors abroad, what’s one reality nobody warned you about before leaving India?
my_qualifications: Bachelors
What’s one thing nobody warned you about before moving abroad for studies?
Every counselling session and YouTube video talks about visas, SOPs, IELTS, loans, accommodation etc. But I feel the actual difficult stuff is usually emotional and personal.
Like suddenly doing everything alone, missing random family moments, feeling like you don’t fully belong anywhere, or constantly converting currency before buying basic things 😭
For students already abroad, what was the one thing you wish someone had honestly told you before you left India?
My_qualifications: bachelors
Could be internships, networking, handling stress, or even basic life skills. Feels like the most important lessons are completely outside the classroom.
Curious to hear what everyone had to figure out on their own because honestly that list keeps growing.
