In 2024 I planned a trip to Ireland for my mom. I was able to ask questions and learn so much from this subreddit. On the whole, people were incredibly helpful and wishing me a good time in their country.

I’m planning a trip for my dad this year and damn, the Italian and Spanish subreddits are a little off putting. 😅 Not quite as welcoming.

So thank you for being lovely people, /irishtourism! I hope to visit again soon.

Would like to take my dad to Scotland for his 60th birthday. He enjoys hunting, fishing, history, good food, good beer, good wine.

I'd like to spend some time in the Highlands for him to enjoy some outdoor sporting activities.

Do you have any recommendations? Experiences? Tips and tricks?

We are a party of 6, 5 adults and 1 child, age 5. He would likely be the only hunter.

The whole trip is up in the air but let's assume we would be there in October to catch the end of the season, or maybe over the winter. TBD.

Daughter is princess crazy and is dying to meet them and Maleficent. Doesn’t seem to care about Mickey, Minnie, etc. so not concerned about meeting them.

Challenges: She is absolutely not going to stand in long lines for a ride. Not psyched about loud noises. Gets hangry, hardcore.

We’ve never been to Disney but have travelled internationally so the experience of plane/crowds/hotel won’t be a shock.

Is Magic Kingdom the best park for princesses? Is 1 day enough to meet a bunch of princesses? How does one meet princesses? Are they all out roaming the park all the time? Do they have a schedule? Are some only available in restaurants or other experiences?

Willing to do more than one day but also not willing to spend a fortune though I don’t know the exact definition of either just yet.

Please advise!

Hello lovely people.

Would anyone be so kind as to give me suggestions for a surprise birthday trip for my dad’s 60th birthday?

Time frame: a week in weather warm enough to swim in the ocean.

Budget: around $10k

We are: a family of 6, with one 5 year old. Most of the party are very anxious, crowd-avoidant people. We vacation very leisurely, max one “thing” per day.

He enjoys:
Boat rides
Good food
History, particularly religious and military
Interesting architecture
Fishing
Snorkeling
Any activity that would immerse you in a culture more than a tour of only the major sites.
Just hanging out and soaking up good vibes

He doesn’t enjoy:
Wine
Limoncello

I’m doing some research and I’m getting lost. I’ve been to Italy several times but not to the south. Drove to Napoli for a quick day trip in the autumn and that was it.
