Are the tours from Naples worth it?

Hello everyone, it’s my first time visiting the Amalfi coast in August and I’m super excited! We are staying in Naples for 3 or so days and hoping to do a day trip down to the Amalfi Coast (Positano and any other significant places). I’ve done some pretty extensive research on the options to make it happen. I know that private transfer is often recommended as is the ferry.

My question is has anybody taken the 8+ hour tours that depart from Naples (looking at getyourguide specifically right now)? If so, are they worth it? Also, what crowds are they targeted towards. I’ll be travelling with my gf (we’re both 22yo) so hoping for something that is fun with a good crowd.

Open to any advice, opinions or ideas about what I’m asking. Should I book a tour or do it our own way with ferry etc?

Thank you ☺️

Early morning departure from Naples?

We're planning to stay at Casa Angelina in Praiano, but our flight home departs Naples (NAP) at 6:15 a.m. on April 24, 2027.

I realize this ultimately comes down to personal preference, but I'm curious if anyone has first- or second-hand experience with this situation.

Would you stay on the Amalfi Coast and arrange a very early private transfer to the airport, or would you spend the final night in Naples instead? If you stayed on the coast, how did it go? If you moved to Naples, were you glad you did?

We're happy to pay for a private transfer if we stay in Praiano, but I'm trying to decide whether preserving that last evening on the coast is worth the very early departure, or if the peace of mind of staying near the airport is the better choice.

I'd love to hear what others have done and whether you'd make the same decision again.

travel with SitaSud bus company

Hi,

in late august me and my family will travel to see the Amalfi coast.

we will travel between the different towns along the coast by bus.

i found this app called UnicoCampania where i can buy different bus tickets.

My question is:

is the app legit?

and all i have to do is "activate" the ticket before getting on the bus?

thank you!

You have to give it to Americans…

they really know how to flood a place with money and completely ruin an experience.

Amalfi has always been crazy expensive but this is next level now. unless they are working not even an Italian in sight. and now all of a sudden everywhere expects tips. this definitely smells of American exposure. I came here for the first time in decade or two and the charm is gone. I saw a bloody American flag in a clothing store.

you guys honestly ruin everything you touch. americans stay home please.

Amalfi solo trip recommendations

Hi everyone, I’m staying in Amalfi for 4 days next week to celebrate my birthday. I was supposed to go with my husband but tragedy has struck lol.

Since it’s July and I’m alone, I’m scared it’ll be busy, and I’ll have difficulty finding places to dine alone, getting photos, etc.

Does anyone have recommendations for solo trips for :

Towns to visit / avoid
Beaches / beach clubs
Restaurants
Where to eat or which town to be in for birthday
Shopping
Bars

Ideally I want to avoid tourist traps / over hyped shops n restaurants.

Thank you!

Best private driver experience.

I wanted to share a great experience in case anyone is looking for a reliable private driver on the Amalfi Coast.

My family (2 adults and our 17-year-old son) used Peter for two transfers:

Salerno Train Station → Hotel Jaccarino (Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi)

Hotel Jaccarino → Hotel Cerere in Paestum

We agreed on a very reasonable fixed price for both transfers, and it turned out to be excellent value.

Peter was very responsive on WhatsApp before our trip, always replied quickly, and confirmed all the details in advance. He arrived exactly on time for both pickups, drove safely, helped with our luggage (1 suitcase and 3 backpacks), and his vehicle was clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned.

What impressed me most was how stress-free he made the transfers. The roads around the Amalfi Coast can be challenging, and it was a huge relief not to worry about driving, parking, or navigating unfamiliar roads.

He was also friendly without being intrusive, spoke good English, and shared some useful local tips during the drive.

If you're traveling between Salerno, Sorrento, Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, the Amalfi Coast, or Paestum, I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. He was one of the best service providers we had during our Italy trip.

Highly recommended!

Amalfi Coast from above

The mix of cliffs, sea, and towns built into the hillside is what always stands out to me here.

Any favorite viewpoints along the coast?

Positano vs Sorrento, September

Will be heading to the Amalfi Coast for 4 nights in late September. Our flight lands in Naples in the evening, so thinking of staying there for one night and then base ourselves somewhere else for the remaining three.

What we’re after:

**•**	Good food
**•**	Relaxing walks
**•**	Some nightlife/bars
**•**	One day trip to Capri
**•**	One day at a beach club

Open to other things on the remaining days, but we don’t want to overdo it bouncing between towns.

I’m leaning toward Positano - it looks magical at night, has the beach clubs and Music on the Rocks is on my list. But I keep reading it’s a pain to get around, super busy and very touristy. Sorrento seems like it might be more laid-back and easier as a base.

For a couple in our late 20s prioritizing food, atmosphere and a relaxed-but-fun vibe, which would you recommend? Any specific restaurant, bar, or beach club tips welcome too.

Thanks!

Train ticket from Naples to Salerno

Hi everyone!
We’re traveling to the Amalfi Coast this August. Our flight lands in Naples at around 5:00 PM, and we’re planning to take the train from Naples to Salerno, where we’ll be staying.
I checked the train tickets online, and they’re currently around €6. My question is: do these ticket prices usually increase closer to the travel date, or do they stay the same?
Would you recommend buying the tickets now, or is it just as easy (and the same price) to buy them when we arrive at Naples station?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

4 nights in amalfi in August

I’m debating on where should my base be for the four nights? I am going to rent a Vespa so getting around shouldn’t be an issue and I don’t mind taking transportation. It will be my spouse and I. I don’t want to spend a ton but I’m looking for 4-5 star hotels with a pool and nice views/service.

Few recommendations

Hi, I will be staying in Amalfi with my GF from 11th of September to the 16. Want to do a day trip to Positano and go to a nice restaurant to watch the sunset, any recommendations?
Also, what’s the best way to get back to Amalfi as it seems ferry’s stop at 740pm and taxis are €100 plus.

Torn with where to stay for 4 day Almafi Coast romantic trip

My GF and I arrive in Naples October 9th we have four nights on the Almafi Coast before taking the train to the Dolomites for four nights at a spa/hotel followed by two nights in Venice before flying home from Venice.

The only accommodations I haven’t decided on yet are the four nights in Almafi.

Would like to keep the accommodation cost to under $4,000 USD if possible.

We do want to see Amalfi, Capri, Ravello, Positano etc. We love good food and scenery etc

Avoid BlueKeys private transfer

Conveniently, their website kept saying “error” when I tried to submit my 1 star feedback, so here’s my review - hopefully it’ll stop other people from choosing them. They looked highly rated but they’re seemingly mostly a tour operating company and property management company.

From Naples to Sorrento we were in a small clapped out car with a broken back seat, and felt pretty unsafe with the driver's driving (maybe that's classic Italian driving...) he was typing on his phone, drifting lanes, at one point dropped his phone and was rooting around barely looking at the road. When it came to payment, he seemed confused about paying by card, despite the booking confirmation email saying I could pay in cash or card, no difference. At first he gave me the wrong QR code for €50 more than the agreed price... The joke of it is that when the payment did go through, it came up on my card as “luxury transfer”.

The return trip was worse - nice car this time, but the driver was 30minutes late, they didn't contact me to let me know. I whatsapped the company asking where the driver was, they kept saying "5min away". Then the driver messaged me saying "don't tell me anything about the delay it wasn't my fault an accident right in Sorrento" which felt inappropriate and unprofessional.

He was apologetic when he eventually arrived, and we were very polite to him despite waiting 30min in the hot sun for a taxi at the end of our holiday... But then, we finally arrived in Naples, and he asked for a tip! He said 10%, 20%, 30%. I politely but firmly said absolutely not - you were 30 minutes late... he kind of argued with a smile, saying "was it not comfortable for you, did I not do a good job?" and I said there will be no tip this time. I actually couldn't believe the audacity. Then for payment he also was surprised / annoyed I was paying by card. He then said there will be a 10% commission for paying by card. I said absolutely not, nowhere does it say that. Then he started going "I don't understand" which seemed convenient... Then the company whatsapped me a payment link for the amount + 10%. I said no, I will pay the agreed amount in my email confirmation, and the email does not say it costs extra to pay by card. So then they instantly sent a payment link for the correct amount. This time the payment showed up as “special driver” which also made us laugh.

I felt like they were trying to take advantage of us, and delivered a poor service. So am very disappointed. Would never use them again.

Best way to visit the Amalfi Coast from Naples ?

Hello, we will have 3 days in Naples and we would like to dedicate 1 day to the Amalfi Coast. What would be the most practical option to visit Amalfi and the surrounding areas?
Would it make sense to go to Salerno and take a ferry from there? I would appreciate your recommendations.
We would also like to dedicate 1 day to Capri.
