Hot Take: I like Season 17

While I fully acknowledge and understand people's frustrations with the season (the various unfair eliminations), I still really enjoy this season. It is for a similar reason why I also think Season 16 is lowkey underrated and why Season 10 is my all time favorite season. Drama.

I have always watched the show to see chefs fight. Even as a child, I always loved watching people like Robyn and Elise because rooting against them was fun. I love reality television like Survivor, so villains on RTV isn't new to me.

I really have fun with the season. Elise is truly one of the greatest villains I've ever seen, Robyn's redemption arc is incredible, Nick is super entertaining, Josh has a great but cathartic downfall, and the various alliances within the ever flailing red team. I also really appreciate Michelle's talent. While Nick would've been a better winner, Michelle has clearly proven herself over time to be a phenomenal chef.

I know that my preferences for seasons like 4, 8, 10, 17, and even 24 while never be agreed upon in the fandom but I love that I genuinely think there are no truly bad seasons of the show.

>!No one is mentioning how Aubry managed to save herself by clocking Ozzy's arrogance. She then spread the information he gave her to Rizo, Joe, and Jonathan. I see people giving Jonathan credit for this move, but Aubry set the plan in motion before him. I know people don't like Aubry but her game has been picking up because she is insulating herself better than anyone else right now. I'd give most of the Ozzy blindside to her (as well as Rizo for not telling Ozzy, but idk how good that was for his game at the moment).!<

>!She also has more win equity than Jonathan. Jonathan has some of the worst social tact I've seen in recent memory. The only reason he is not being targeted is because he shot his winning chances by being so rude to Dee at F14. Aubry is a good social player and can speak and strategize circles around Jonathan. Aubry's game lacked agency pre-merge but she still is playing a good game.!<
