Am I missing something?

Ok, so the swarm expedition was long, arduous and had most of us just wanting it to end.
But it was touted as the Swarm UPDATE.

Has anyone actually encountered anything swarm related after the expedition ended, or seen anything that would make it an ‘update’?

I am currently hunting paradise planets near the core of every galaxy and so I have visited literally hundreds of planets in the last couple of weeks.

In all that, I found one planet that had buried swarm debris, which gave me some corrupted ichor.

No crashed swarmers, no swarmers to fight, no sign of the hive of glass.

Am I just not doing something properly or was this update adding the faction mechanic for something coming in COSMOS?

I see now that the quicksilver merchant has a community progress bar that I don’t think was there before.

Compact Gaming Headset

I totally love my SteamDeck OLED - best thing I ever bought.
But I don’t always play as handheld - I have built myself a little portable gaming set up that all fits in the STM Velo2 messaged bag rather nicely. Even the Arzopa screen fits perfectly in the laptop compartment.
Loving it.

However, headset- wise I am using my Bose QC35s and they aren’t really great for gaming as my son, on the other end of the game, says he can hear every noise in the room.
So I need a headset with a cardioid mic arm.
Problem is that they all seem to be like baked bean cans on the side of your head. I can’t find anything with a folding or low profile option like the Bose.
I am currently using a blend of the Bose and my Insta360 mic air, which improves it a little bit it’s not perfect and not an elegant solution.

Anyone got any suggestions for a good gaming headset that fits with this packable gaming set up bit gives me better comms?

Thanks

My Personal NMS Mission

For the NMS players who, like me, got to a point where some of the game seemed a little ‘rinse and repeat’, I’d like to share a mission that I have just settled on, to put the challenge back.

I’m calling it ‘The Hitchhiker’s Glide Through the Galaxies’

I discovered recently (yeah - 1600 hours in and only just figured this one out!) that when you are on the anomaly, if you go to the teleport terminal and look in the menu that says ‘space anomaly’, you can see the bases of all the other players in the anomaly at that time.
Some of these bases are in other galaxies, ones I have not been to via the painful method.

So my new mission is this.
Go to the anomaly and wait until a base appears in a galaxy I have not visited.
Warp to the base.
Head into space to see where I am in relation to the core, via that star map.
Black hole my way to the core.
Find an undiscovered system with the following properties .
Within 5,000 LY of the core.
Korvax (I like these guys - they’ve had a hard time of it).
Must be opulent, wealthy, booming, or prosperous.
Not dissonant, pirate, or gas giant.
Has a paradise planet.
Then find the portal on that paradise planet and drop a base nearby (but a nice simple solar power, landing pad, teleport, exocraft summoner design that anyone can use - not a city that ruins the portal site)
Then I go and discover all the planets in that system, and all the minerals, fauna and flora on them.

Now I’ve written this, I’m kinda thinking that all I am doing is what HG built the game for in the first place and I’m probably not the only person doing this.
My galaxy count is up to 22 so far but I need to go back to a lot of them and do all the planet scanning.
I’d be interested if anyone else is doing this and how it’s going.

Oh yeah, and last night it took me 5 hours in one galaxy to find a system that met the criteria, so I may be in for the long haul here!

A little too obvious maybe?

Does anyone else find it curiously coincidental that this happens on the same week we are all sat waiting for the release of the COSMOS update? On what would usually be emoji Wednesday.
One helluva promotional stunt there Mr Murray!

Here’s an idea. Hello Games…pretty please?

To make up for the badly received Exp22 Swarm, what if Exp23 went something like this.

You spawn on a planet and, as usual have to find your ship, repair it and get into space. You do that and head to the space station, but wait - what’s that? The space station is derelict when you arrive.
You head to the station core and find that your first mission is to find the resources to get it back in operation. Flying round the planets in the system, you gather what is needed and bring it back online. When it sparks to life, it has no memory of being part of the station network and asks you to override it and take control.

You do this and you hit your first milestone - tadaa - you completed milestone one, Station Warden.
Now you have to decide - will it be Gek, Korvax, or VyKeen? Will it be pirate?
Now you need to refit the station. Throughout the expedition and throughout the rest of the milestones you have to gather resources to refit the interior as a kind of hybrid freighter / base / station, being rewarded with new build modules along the way.
You have to find and recruit station specialists, provide inventory to sell at the vendors, set the pricing structure to compete in the local systems, set up trading partnerships with other Station Wardens and local system trading posts, build a ship parts market where players can buy or swap ship components, upgrades or even whole ships.
By the end of the expedition you have claimed, refitted, staffed, and configured your very own space station, to run and manage, just like a settlement (only better). You only get one, like freighters, but you can swap to a new one in an abandoned system if you choose. You can give up your old one, or transfer the current one to your new find.
The scope is huge and I think it would add that aspect to the game that I have seen so many people dreaming of, on here.

The game is incredible in what it delivers. The list of aspects to this game is very long when you think about it, making it the only game I know that I can pick up and play for 10 minutes or 5 hours.

I think owning a space station would be so cool though and it would open up so many options for future update ideas.

To me this game is perfection, despite the glitches, it is the game I have been waiting 50 years to play. I’m almost 1600 hours in and have no plan to stop any time soon.

Thank you Hello Games.
