Submitting to literary journals or magazines?
Hi all,
I recently got back into photography after a 20 year hiatus. I am slowly amassing a large collection of photographs and I don't really know what to do with them. While I have no interest in turning this into a career or even part time job, I would like to get some kind of exposure.
Many years ago, I used to submit prose fiction to literary mags and some of those publications also solicited art/photography, though the ones that published my material specifically did not accept photography.
Does anyone have any experience submitting to these kinds of publications? Any to recommend? Any to avoid? Thank you.
Some recent shots from around town. Which is your favorite?
How can I improve these compositions?
During the summer, I enjoy walking several miles a day, often through the quietest side streets I can find in Queens, NY where I live. I can't think of a better way to describe this other than I am trying to capture the uniquely serene mood of walking down a quiet street in the hot sun, directly overhead, right in the middle of the day. Do these photos do that for you? If not, how might I improve them?
Sidenote: I find it hard to take this particular kind of photograph due to the visual noise caused by so many parked cars. How might this be accommodated or compensated for?

Visited a popular bird watching spot near me today. Almost as soon as I posted up this family just walked by.
