Separating the game into arcade and authentic

A lot of people were relieved that we got a filter for Smart Assist. And rightly, because that trash shouldn't be in the same mode.

However, I don't believe it goes far enough.

In reality there are two groups of players:

- those who play with settings that give them shortened animations

- those who play with settings that require full animations.

The difference in these two settings is very obvious in-match. One can just hit blind perfect passes instantly; the others need to power them up and at least vaguely aim, which takes more time.

Time we separated these two groups, because the advantage for one is pretty silly.

- PA1 and PA2 in the arcade section, probably with Smart Assist

- PA3 and PA4 in the authentic section.

Thanks for your time

Player IDs; a question

So, we know player ID is important for how the player behaves - how well they shield, how quick the are to accelerate, leg length etc

But I had assumed that a player had a particular model locked in. Yet looking through efhub I see that different models of Zico are better than others (weirdly, he's Japan one better at shielding) but also that this isn't uncommon.

Just realised that the Ronaldinho I've been using is actually the worst model. Smaller shoulders, smaller calves and thighs. Is this accurate?!?

Having been experimenting with using players based on their ID (while also noting that these things are also related to rather than independent of height) has been a revelation.

But do different models of players really have such different ID?

Had a look at the update notes: first thoughts

So, I've been reading through the update notes and these are my first take-aways, although there will be lots I missed.

  • "Due to instances in which a dash dribble movements speed is too fast and it's difficult for defenders to respond, slightly decreased the top speed and made changes to ensure a more appropriate balance" - hmm so, slowed dribbling?
  • First time shots will be more accurate than previously
  • "Made changes so that entering the Dash and Finesse commands at the same time while trying to control the ball will allow the player to perform a trap and a dash that works in combination with their dribbling" - sounds interesting!
  • Interestingly, they've done a lot of work to add animations that better align with outcomes from contested elements. Which to me sounds like the animations are just visual indicators of rng rolls rather than what is actually happening, and they've now made it look more natural or meaningful...
  • Defensive engagement and interception skill is now more meaningful
  • They've reduced auto interceptions a bit
  • Reduced auto pressing as well! Or at least the speed at which an uncontrolled player auto presses
  • Basically overhauled marking
  • Curiously there's lots of notes about "when a player is too good at..." around covering lanes, positioning etc and how it's being rebalanced.
  • Match up improved, but also may require timing
  • "made changes so that AI controlled players are not excessively strong at defending" and basically more value on Defensive Awareness stat
  • Defenders are less on rails so they don't automatically get dragged to a ball they can't win!
  • Ooooh classic 10s no longer go full passive out of possession!
  • Fouls from sliding tackles might be called more
  • Nerfed the LBC stamina buff!
  • Defenders will get a bit more stamina regen at half time than before.

Not too shabby, let's see how long the good bits last.

Efootball is not PvP

This isn't new, but it's still true. As long as there is balancing/DDA, as long as referees have bias, as long as AI can be turned up and down by the game behind the scenes, this isn't true PvP.

There are too many manipulations. Too many cases of "final boss" match making or DDA when it's a promotion game or a key match.

When you play MyLeague, big matches get rolled up to higher level AI but it's transparent about it. It's just not transparent in PvP yet palpably present.

Sure, network connection plays a part, and the effect of that is massive too. Sure opponent set ups will have a greater or lesser impact too.

But you don't go from being on top of your game in three consecutive matches to suddenly - and within the same session - unable to hit the target or aim your passes. No, that's manipulation. To drive engagement or sell packs by upping the challenge.

This isn't really PvP. It's two humans getting more or less support/hindrance from an AI.

How do I jump small gaps in WD2?

Early in the game, before first real mission, just trying to get a feel for it all. Found a cash bag, but I cannot jump this small gap.

I've tried running, I've tried holding R2 to parkour it. Nada. Tried the damn RC Jumper and that did just the same.

Is there something I'm missing or I simply don't have the basic ability to clear a small gap yet? Because that seems mental

I tried to post a video of the gap in question but apparently that's not allowed

Division matches - how is hosting managed now?

My understanding is that event matches are more P2P or each player hosts a half on their nearest server.

However, my understanding for Divisions matches was that both parties connect to a single server and your connection is measured relative to that.

I ask because I've had a number of matches where the connection has radically changed in the second half.

Missed opportunities

There's been a tonne of good free cards during the world cup, but they really missed some good opportunities.

1/ allow club as well as nation alignment boost.

2/ allow "WC card" alignment so we could assemble teams made only of these cards.

Would have been great to have these cards be useful beyond occasional international events. It's just such a shame that Konami have so limited creativity when it comes to events and card creation. Are they so scared that such cards might replace people buying packs? I struggle to believe that.

On the flip side, 10k trainers and 4 booster tokens is nice, I guess.

Partially related, I'd love to know the numbers for those WC packs of good but savagely limited players. Not even reduced filler. Surely not many can have spend coins on them?

Stat thresholds again

Playing around with stats again, wondered what the view was on some of the thresholds and things seem to constantly change.

For example, physical contact. Is 80 enough or do you need 85?

From what I've seen, anything above 95 *in most cases* is worthless, but does dribbling 99 offer an actual improvement over 95? I know it's diminishing returns but I seem to remember there being a change in animation at some level, and that dribbling drives ball carrying acceleration?

Cal Kestis and the rebellion

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but from a little searching it seems that Cal is around 22 during Survivor, and early 30s by the time of A New Hope.

I assume we'll get some explanation of what happens to him in any sequel to Survivor but is there any canon info on his role with the rebellion?

Because he's clearly a majorly strong Jedi and while the Jedi are pretty scattered at the time of New Hope, I presume Jedi like Obi-Wan and Yoda haven't lost the ability to sense someone strong with the Force.

Surely they won't kill him off at the end of the sequel but maybe they'll have to, to fit?

Not really related, but it seems surprising that Cere nearly beats Vader considering he's at his peak at that point? He's only mid 30s then.

Defensive stat thresholds

A quick question on what you think are the best defensive stat thresholds.

Obviously, some players are capable of getting to higher thresholds but lower stats doesn't stop good free cards being just as effective. I've also had plenty of cases where 99 tackling seems to offer little to no value over 95 or even 90.

So, with that being the case, what stats do you think are enough for a CB? Where do you put the priority?

My guess is anything above 92 is diminishing returns and above 95 is virtually pointless.

A heads up for those who don't mind spending

This isn't a bash on people who spend money, I do too, or have done in the past anyway.

We know that Konami manipulate the game to encourage spending. It's a classic mobile gatcha mechanic. It's been going on for years. It's a thing.

You'll hit a shadow ceiling and suddenly get ridiculous match ups or convenient lag. Your players will suddenly stop responding, fast players seem suddenly slow, dribblers can't dribble, passers misplace their passes, your prime striker can't hit the target from the penalty spot.

My message is this: don't be mugged into thinking you need that card. In fact, use the fact that you've been obviously manipulated to forgo that next pack entirely.

It won't make or break your push. Most stats above 90 don't make much difference anyway (and anyone who's had a strong player be bullied by a weak one, a defender with 99 tackling be unable to tackle, a giant with Aerial Fort refuse to jump for the easiest header, a player with 99 ball control be unable to control a simple ball that a kid in an academy could nail etc knows this).

If you want a card because you're a fan of the player or you have a weakness in your team that you need to fix, crack on.

Just don't let Konami mug or manipulate you into thinking you *need* the card. You don't. The only way the game changes is if people take a stand.

Truth be told it probably won't make any difference but neither will the card and you'll have saved yourself £80 👌🏻

PA1/2 players... you are the bad guys too

Just faced a guy in divisions. Team name "Stop LBC Spam".

Proceeds to PA1 ping-pong and Smart Skill spam 😂😂😂 I guess we're in a post-irony world now.

Most people hate Smart Assist users, but if you're using PA1/2 - and especially if you're also using Smart Skills, Auto player switching and holding press - you are the same thing. You are EXACTLY the same thing.

No, you're not "100% manual", no matter what some certain YouTube cretin says. No, you're not better than Smart Assist users. No, there's no skill in hitting blind assisted passes that you didn't aim.

Any level of assistance higher than PA3 involves negligible input from you, so you ain't really playing. At best, you're vaguely directing from the sidelines.

There's no rewards for playing bar the creation of nice goals. So why not trying playing the game yourself and turn it down from easy mode?

I just want to say props to a wild FUMA

Played a guy, username Kondiment... so rare to see one of us in the wild so if you're here, good game!

I did wonder if it was a reborn MrKevG...

To all you FUMA guys out there, you're the real heroes, fighting the good fight.

We won't win this war, but we won't give up and our names will be forgotten in legend as they get mixed up with people using PA1 and basic shooting but who think they're playing (and I quote) "100% manual" 😂😭🙈

This game is waaaay too assisted rn

When you can hit top ranks and your defence is nearly entirely relying on holding press and letting your meta players (midfield of Yaya and Vieira, with Thuram, Desailly and others behind) carry you, then things are not good.

When you can have an *average* of 25 player switches because the AI is carrying you, things are not good.

u/That_Net_6616 — 2 months ago

I dunno guys, but I *think* there might be too much assistance

If you can get into top ranks by holding press as your entire defence, because you've got meta players, then I think it might be too assisted.

So I'll say this again: there is no significant difference any more between PA1/2 and Smart Assist.

What level of player switching do you use?

Simple question. I'll put the four options as answers, and you can give them a vote or answer yourself.

What level of player switching do you use?

Pretty sure I know the answer, considering the sub, but just wanted to check I'm not being dumb. Because from the outside the auto changing seems to be OP.

A little rant

Can I just say how fked off I am that we still get our inputs dropped or failed while assisted opponents don't?

Just had a game where I was in the box with my striker, dialed up the shooting input but it was delayed long enough to allow the auto bot tackle to complete instead. Yet if that's an autobot, the shot comes off fine.

Then, to add to the anger, they hit a couple of long balls and I can't get any control of any defender until it's too late, for them to do a weak shot that would have been saved if it was a manual shot.

It all feels so totally rigged. Even against AI it's not this bad. Is it lag? Is it automation? Is it balancing/DDA? I no longer care.

I can't play this over-automated rancid pile of shit anymore.
