at how GOOD this random out of nowhere F2P(!) Football Game actually is.

I’ve been a FIFA/Ultimate Team Player since its introduction. I always reached Elite in Divisions and got to about 30 of 40 and later 15/16 of 20 wins in Champs Mode. So I would say I know how to play a Football/Fifa game and I know about almost every mechanic, bad gameplay, delay, scripting etc because I literally played the series for like over 20-25+ years

It’s actually insane how good the gameplay feels. There are some issues regarding some tactical options or AI behavior but apart from this the gameplay feels actually like a copy of FIFA from like 2019/20 or something which was one of the best titles imo anyway.

I was straight familiar with the controls and the buildup in game because they obviously let themselves get inspired by FIFA but NOT in a bad way. The idea with evolving players over time and also probably keeping your players later and not to buy a new fifa title every year will be sooo refreshing and time saving.

With age, I simply cannot justify the heavy grind to keep up the powercurve in fifa and on top off that, to start again every year and rebuy the same shit and get scammed by Store Packs(wich I didn’t invest in too much gladly). Now I can just build my team and keep it and come back to it in months and just pick it up again. Sure there will always be some whales and 99+ teams but it won’t feel like being totally left behind because you missed a couple of card promos like in fifa.

Idgaf about centurion or winterwild cards or informs anymore. Keep your shitty rebound, scripted online gambler Simulator EA.

I am on full support on this game as a FIFA Veteran to the max. I’ve tried to play PES in the past and Efootball but I have to say one thing, the gameplay of Goals is already better than Konamis wannabe Simulator. Oh, and I don’t even concede rebound goals like in almost every game in Fifa back then.

Also tackles and slides feel sooo good. The ball actually stays at your feet and doesn’t jump of „randomly“ straight into the running lane of your opponent. Good bye scripting, hello Goals.

Everyone who loves Fifa and is sick of their BS should honestly try this game. I haven’t played a single fifa for 3 years but this game actually brought me back to football.

Pace abusing, drop back, lofted through ball tactics everyfuckingwhere... no wonder nobody ever enjoys a new football game when this is how 90% of people play them all

I'm an average player on other games (FC, eFootball, etc. Hit Gold 3 this first knockout and gave my wins away because I started to get destroyed whilst trying to get Gold 2) and I typically don't rely on AI to defend for me, I usually control the closest defender and try to close the ball-carrier down whilst covering a passing lane by myself or with a double team (R1/RB press). I'm also a casual, so I try to improve whilst playing for rewards as that's really the only time I have to play. And if it helps, I'm south american, so I typically play on the NA-East servers with around 120-130 ping (game still feels incredibly responsive compared to the rest, it's genuinely impressive what they've done to achieve such a level of responsiveness, although I do feel a bit sluggish compared to all my opponents, so my ping definitely plays a factor)

But I just don't understand how to keep the opponent at bay when tackling is so inconsistent, from all my standing tackles over the course of probably 30 games, I've only gotten like 7 steals and 1 foul. And the "auto-tackle", which is a daft feature IMO, is slightly more consistent but can just not activate on the most obvious occasions. Meanwhile I have to constantly keep an eye on my back line so they don't get outsped by their man although they have enough pace to keep up or even theoretically outspeed the attackers, they always get beat for pace, even after the opponent has possession.

What am I missing and how to even begin improving on that section? I've been dying for a fun, non-scripted experience and I feel like this is the closest we'll get from the current crop (FIFA, PES, UFL, GOALS) but I'm really struggling to even have fun in this game when one section is so frustrating compared to the rest of the game.

I don't have much to say because it's all in the title. Besides the fact that I think the quick chat messages players can use after scoring already encourage a certain level of toxicity within the community.

What I mean is, for example, I just lost a match 8–2. Sure, I admit I'm far from being a great football game player, but that doesn't change how I feel, especially since this isn't the only match where, every time I concede a goal, my opponent keeps spamming "Catch your cold."

I'm honestly tired of seeing that after every goal when all I want to do is enjoy the game, have fun, and spend a good time playing.

On the other hand, if my opponent scores or is ten times better than me, I'd rather congratulate them. So yeah, it would be nice if there were an option to disable these chat messages 😅. I really don't want to run into the same level of toxicity that made me quit FC in the first place.

You might not agree with me, and that's totally fine, this is simply my opinion.

I played the game the first 2 days it came out, everything was pretty fine and fair, i also did Knocked Out (finished gold 2 because got no time to grind)
Then i got sick and launched the game today with my full green team... WHY is everyone with blue or purple player with 99 pace ??? Did i miss something ?

They are gonna get us hooked, then charge incrementally to craft players from the ground up.

I'm having little issue with defending and can generally attack pretty well, but the number of times my shots are being saved from practically point blank is costing me games.

I recognise it's gonna be me doing something wrong rather than blaming my cards, but I'm lost on what to do differently.

..is there a super cancel? There are so many times i wish i could cancel my shot that was powered up because I was spamming tackle

I've played this game a whole bunch over the last few days, and the more I play, the more I realize the things that start to bother me. I've made a list of things I want to change and I wonder if y'all agree with it or not. These are besides the whole "through passes suck and defending isn't good because it's manual" complaints I see a lot.

- defense doesn't close gaps. They stand still regardless of the movement of the attacking opposition.
- strikers or midfielders don't run into open positions, they literally just stand still behind another players
- players clump together, I can make a run and an AI teammate will literally run right in front of my feet and won't change directions
- Players bounce off each other like an invisible wall. There is no realistic collision.
- If an attacker is running in front of your defender, there is no way to catch up or defend anymore. It's either you HAVE to be wayyy faster or just slide and take a red card. There are no other options.
- changing the player doesn't always even go to the "suggested" player switch and that completely messes up your defense, especially since manual switching doesn't properly track at the moment.
- when you give a wide ball and a player is locked unto it you cannot change to a player that's closer to it. It'll stay locked even if it for some messed up reason has to run all the way from the other side of the field.
- when you pass a ball, the player you pass to doesn't (always) run or walk to it. It stands still and waits for the ball to arrive no matter what you do. This makes it incredibly easy to intercept and I've scored so many goals through interceptions this way.
- I've seen and had myself succesful tackles where the defender doesn't even touch the ball. If the "timing" of the tackle is right, you just automatically have it regardless of actually physically having the ball. This is more akin to tackles in Mario Smash Football.

I already heared people wishing this game to go away and never succeed and i kinda get why. But I would love go genially know who wants this game to "succeed“. Even though it would will never after that release

Hello there started playing three days ago and I’m not seeing any shared players on any teams I’m playing are the players endless on the game or something or is there just that many different players within the game. It’s almost as if they’re all randomly generated when packs are opened

I get that this game wears its influence on its sleeve, but licensing the biggest fifa youtuber to appear in the game feels a bit on the nose. Also his brand being slop for 12 year olds kinda reduces credibility a bit imo

For comparison last summer’s football game on Game Pass (Rematch) had Ronaldinho day one. Was KSI really the first name they landed on here? No other retired footballer who has prestige but will still do anything for a dollar?

FINALLY YOU ARE INTRODUCED TO MANUAL DEFENDING. THIS IS HOW EAFC SHOULD BE, HOW EVERY FOOTBALL GAME SHOULD BE. BUT YOU PREFER CPU DOING THE JOB FOR YOU.

On EAFC I'm a division 2 player and 10 win in WL but here I'm sooo better just because I know how to defend. On EAFC if you just think to switch to a CB you are cooked.

people have mentioned that defending is awful in this game but I want to prove that it goes beyond just the horrible AI.

- First of all, tackling just doesn’t work. 80% of the time it doesn’t register - if you want proof, go into a practice game and try tackling, it doesn’t register most of the time, especially when you are close to the ball (i.e. when you need to tackle the most)

- Second of all, even if tackling registers, it still doesn’t work. 90% of the time a standing tackle is just an easy way to give a foul, get a red card or let them take you on into goal. Slide tackles are even worse, they almost never work at all. For a game that claims to be “skill”, there’s not a lot of options..

- Jockeying. This is basically how everyone defends because tackling and AI are so horrible. The problem with jockeying is that there are two types of jockeying that use the exact same controls, with no feedback.. for example, the first type of jockey is sprint jockey, pretty simple, you use this to cover angles, contain players a certain way, bait angles etc. The second type is the shoulder barge, which is used for gaining direct possession..but this uses the exact same controls, so can you reliably transition from one to another, when there is no feedback? As you can see, these two types have completely different purposes, require completely different intentions, yet are binding by the same controls, with no feedback (like a vibration when you attempt a shoulder barge)

- Since all the fundamental pieces of defending are broken, including AI, manual tackling, jockeying, and shoulder barging, there is no viable way to defend like we should be encouraged in a game that promotes “skill”

As a free to play game that doesn't want to go the p2w route —even though we have some p2w aspects in this game—, the obvious monetisation is cosmetics.

However, cosmetics and customisation in this game are... pretty much nonexistent.

Currently, we can only change our outfit. And the outfits are full designs, we can't tweak or edit them. I really don't know why the customisation is this simple. Give us patterns, colour palettes and shapes, and give us the power to make our own outfit unique. There's a lot to add in this aspect and everything there can be easily monetised.

I don't want to pay 5 bucks for a shitty red tshirt, but I'd pay double for a limited colour palette and a few patterns to choose and combine.

Also, we don't have team shields, which is another thing we could customise a lot. We can't even name our team either.

So yeah, I feel like we need a way deeper customisation system for this game. It will make our team feel more unique and they can also monetise a reasonable aspect of the game.

This game will die soon very soon if they don’t fix the gameplay, I’m top 500 but I can confidently say I never played a game with such shitty passing, I can’t even begin to tell you how many games I loose because the passing is ass it because my defenders are stupid and they watch their attackers just ran by them whilst their defenders just destroy my attackers as soon as they get close. The game is fun but these dynamics need to be fixed
