I think free kicks need a rework

The only time anyone ever even attempts to score a free kick is when they're on the edge of the box and mostly central

You can't put downwards curve on them so you can't shoot over the wall

Depending on how far away you are the GK either saves them 100% or 0% of the time. From too close they can't react, but take one step over a certain threshold and they always save it

99% of free kicks are just a pass which is really repetitive and not as fun or skillful

I think a perfect fix would be to simply allow curving the ball in any direction, not just left and right.

New tournament squad requirements

Looks more fun. Only 3 tournaments too so matchmaking is slightly less split between 4

How to score headers

I've managed to get headers to work consistently, wanted to share for anyone who wants to start doing the daily challenge.

Most important tip is to use a 2 ST formation and cross to the far post ST

The stats for the ST's in my order of importance are:

-Height + Jumping

-Attacking IQ

-Heading

The heading stat does make a difference but it's the least important one. High heading stat is useless if they can't win headers

If the height and jumping are good enough any player position will do well as ST, one of the best I've used is a CB who has some attacking IQ. But keep in mind their stats will be -5 out of position

It feels like there's no aim assistance for headers so aim carefully.

The two best formations I've found are 41212(2) and 4222. 4222 is mainly for if you have better CAM's than WF's

I recommend using fullbacks with good crossing as well and link up them and the wide mids interchangeably

Also a good tip for scoring headers is to manually trigger a ST to run forward while you're running down the wing. That helps them break away from the CB for a free header

I think AI positioning should be one of the highest priorities for gameplay improvement

It makes the game so stale and I think it's one of the main reasons that the meta game is mostly dribbling.

You have to dribble a lot because your attackers barely move into space, and dribbling is very effective because you can pretty much completely ignore every defender except for the one the opponent is controlling.

When you're playing against people at even skill levels it feels like too often it just comes down to whose defenders open up the most gaps. There's only so much you can manually defend, you can't cover everything

How exactly does the passing work now that the power bar decides both the power and the target of the pass?

As in, is it possible to do a low powered through ball to a far away player? Or will it always be high power because that's the only way to target them?

Game theory: they decide balancing updates by having an AI listen to streamers

There's no way a human played this game and decided that pace/sprint dribbling is too weak, and that stand tackling is too powerful, this needs to be changed.

An AI scanned hundreds of hours of streams and found the most common phrases:

'Come on man, how has this kid just tackled me there?'

'Bruh no way he wins that challenge'

'What kind of touch is that? 90 dribbling and he's doing that'

It takes this thought out, constructive feedback and puts together the perfect update

(Shitpost if you couldn't tell, but probably not far off from reality)

Devs seem out of touch

99% of players: AI defending is OP

Devs: we hear you, we're gonna nerf manual defending 20 times

Players: pace is OP, it's one of the only relevant stats for any position

Devs: noted, we're buffing sprint dribbling

I'm not saying they should listen to everything the playerbase says, but who's feedback are they listening to? I can't believe that anyone who's played the game said that sprint dribbling wasn't strong enough

The more I play the game the more I think player stats feel completely different in certain games compared to normal

Anyone else feel it?

I really didn't think so at first but it's just too consistent that in certain games your players just become completely different

Players start moving in slow motion, 99 through passing becomes a 'pass to opponent CB' button, from start to finish you're fighting the game itself to do the basics

But in other certain games your ST with 40 passing is threading through balls like Pirlo, you can't miss a shot, your AI defenders do the work for you, you score 5 goals in the first 20 minutes without even doing anything special.

Idk if it's stat manipulation or just a server problem but it's so consistent, I think about 1/5 games feel like it

Can we please get an option to skip daily/weekly challenges that we don't want to do?

Unless I'm just tripping, the challenges have changed so that they don't go away until you finish them, then the finished ones refresh daily/weekly.

I have a daily challenge to win 20 ranked games. I don't even like playing one ranked game, let alone playing several hours

I'd really like to be able to put that challenge in the bin and wait for the next day's challenge

What's a good formation to avoid using through balls with?

Through balls are too much of a gamble, I'm tired of doing good build ups just for my 99 through passing CAM to pass it straight to their CB

Manual defending should be buffed enough that people might use a lower paced CB with high defending rather than anyone with 90+ pace and some strength

Standing tackles are mostly good but could do with a little bit more range, especially with 90+, and they should be able to more reliably tackle someone fidget spinning on the spot

Slide tackles are perfect

Interceptions and blocking are probably the worst, you can read the opponent like a book but the ball just rolls past you. The vast majority of interceptions in the game are done by the AI when a pass goes straight to their feet

Jockeying should be a little bit faster. Almost every player on the pitch has 90+ pace

Do you think TMIY could have been in the form of a character from the beginning of the show?

With a shapeshifter you should always question if they've been hidden in another form before they were revealed

They should give everyone some free packs as compensation for how bad the servers have gotten

'PACKET LOSS', ' LARGE PACKETS', 'LATE INPUTS', 'RECONNECTING' on the side of the screen of more than half the matches

It took me getting to level 80 and at the world tree before learning you can dash to cancel attacks on mounted pals

While in an attack animation press the jump button and the mount will dash in the direction you're moving

Idk if it has dodge frames, but even if it doesn't it's a lifesaver to cancel attacks

I really hope they invest more into singleplayer, this game has a lot of potential for it

I don't know if I'm in the majority or minority but for me the best part of the game is the squad management and player growth.

The multiplayer is so repetitive that it's boring, I pretty much only play knockouts and do a couple of challenges in between

I'd much rather play against a harder version of the solo AI teams, where the teams and playstyles have variety.

There could be knockouts and ranked where the AI and player overalls get tuned higher and higher.

Max overall tournaments like in multiplayer

Winning headers feels like a 50/50 chance, no matter what the players stats are

I tried making a team focused entirely on crossing with two target men ST's to grind out the headers challenge and pretty much the only way to score headers is when the receiver is unmarked.

The people I'm playing on the wings have about 99 crossing, and my ST's are both tall and have 90+ Attacking IQ, Jumping and Strength

Once the ball is in the air it's completely up to the AI positioning who wins the header. You can feel who's gonna win it before it happens, and you get locked in place

I think the rewards for ranked and tournaments should be boosted

I don't think I'm alone in feeling like it's not even worth the time spent playing anything other than knockouts besides doing some daily challenges in ranked/tournament/quick play

Ranked takes too long to only get 200k. You get 50k just from playing the first game of the day.

Tournaments should have lesser rewards for winning 2 or 3 games in a row.

With the only reward coming from winning the final, they're worthless for anyone who isn't a certain skill level.

At this point the mode I play to grind xp is replaying solo tournaments

Manual defending being so bad is a bigger problem than AI defending being good

I'm sure I'm not alone in the experience of having games where you can read almost every single play the opponent makes, but simply can't get your players to make the tackles or switches to do anything about it

Standing tackles needs a big buff

Interceptions should be boosted when a player is manually controlled compared to AI controlled

And I'm not certain if this would be a good idea but maybe the auto switching player selection should have a slight delay. It moves around so fast that by the time you press the button it's no longer the player you wanted to switch to, and that split second confusion can ruin your defense

The one thing about manual defending that doesn't need a buff is slide tackling, it's actually perfect imo. I'm trying to get used to using it more often but it's way stronger than stand tackling if you time it right
