Insane behavior by staff at Xfinity store

My god. I cannot believe how horrible the xfinity store is at Gallery Place in Downtown Washington DC. I tried to return equipment after cancelling my cable. The woman checking me in said it would be a 15 minute wait and pulled up my account on an iPad. The next person behind me was told to make an appointment if they wanted to return equipment. I sat there for the next hour while this woman helped just 2 people with returns and did nothing else. She moved so deliberately slow that she would carry each piece of equipment - the box, the cables, the remote, separately to the back room one at a time. She was clearly just stalling to avoid having to help customers. Every employee in the store was doing the same thing - going out of their way to avoid moving things along or gathering in groups of 2 or 3 with the customers they were “helping” to avoid anybody doing too much work when in reality they were all just shooting the breeze while the place filled up with angry customers. At the almost the one hour mark I became just the 3rd person the woman at the front helped with a return. She took the same iPad she had checked me in with, quickly scanned the back of the cable box with it, and in less than 60 seconds I was done. Why are they not just scanning returns at the door if it’s that fast as opposed to torturing customers. It is insane that any company operates like this in 2026. Thank you Comcast/Xfinity for reminding me why I cancelled my service in the first place. After 7 years you’re no longer the only provider in my area and I am so glad to be done with you.

Called out a man-spreader for touching me.

I boarded my SW flight this week and arrived at my extra legroom aisle seat. There was already a man seated in the middle seat. He was average build and maybe 5’9”. Not a big guy. He had his knees and elbows spread across my seat and into the window seat too. When I sat down he refused to adjust at all. For context I’m 6’2” and have no trouble confining myself to my own space. I immediately pushed his elbows out of my side and tried to nudge his leg out of my area but he wouldn’t budge. This was all during boarding. We both had to get up to let the window seat pax board, and when we sat down again he resumed his ridiculous dominance exercise. His leg was pressed right up against mine. I was wearing shorts. He kept rubbing his legs as a bit of a tic and every time he did his fingers would brush up against my leg and bare skin. He took a phone call very loudly while still doing this. Most passengers were on board and seated by this point. By about the 10th time he brushed his hand against my leg I had enough. While he was on the phone - and without removing my headphones - I said rather loudly “can you please stop touching my leg.” It was loud enough that the passengers in front of us turned around and looked at him. He didn’t say a word to me but put his legs under his seat and spent the next 3 hours staring daggers at me. It was like it was the first time anybody had told him “no” in his life.

Brokerages keep pulling a switcharoo with agents

Let me begin by saying that I’ve worked with some amazing realtors over the years - agents who’ve gone above and beyond to market and sell my home as if it was their own. But my last two experiences have really got me worried about the industry and I’m wondering what I as a homeowner can do to avoid this situation.

I had to fire my listing agents today after 90 days with no movement and only one showing. We were priced below comps and the house shows great. But I get it. The market is tough. But what I don’t get is that the CEO of the brokerage - who we signed with, and who came highly recommended - promised all sorts of marketing and then handed us off to a more junior agent who would “assist” her. They were co-listed as agents on our profile. Her assistant delivered on nothing - no brochures, no videos, he showed up late to every open house he ran and never advertised the open houses. I tried to follow up with the both of them and got silence throughout the process. I was just told things were slow and it was a waiting game. They communicated nothing about the overall state of the market or what our options were. I have no sense they did anything other than photos and a MLS listing. In ending the relationship with this full service brokerage the CEO apologized and told me she thought all of this was handled and conveyed her embarrassment. The junior guy had a bunch of excuses. This is not what I was promised. It’s far less than I ever had with a discount brokerage like R**fin. But there’s no accountability.

Flash back to two years ago when we tried to sell our home. Another big reputable full service brokerage connected us with an agent they assured us specialized in our neighbourhood. After a few weeks and some weird behaviour from our agent I looked at our listing and noticed a different agent from the brokerage was suddenly listed as our selling agent. I tried to reach out to her and she refused to talk to me, and my agent assured me everything was fine. I looked up the licence of our supposed agent and it turns out he didn’t have one! The brokerage went into panic mode trying to cover it up. Again, big national reputable brokerage put us in this position.

This is 2 for 2 with this kind of awfulness. I know there are real honest pros out there - How do I get back to a place where I’m working with them?!
