So my back is done for the moment, leaving some space for tla few more patches and festival bands.
(the Killswitch Engage patch is not level with the bottom because the jacket is wonky in that corner for some reason)
The front is just a planned layout and nothing is stitched down yet.
I'm starting a new jacket and I'm massively struggling with the back layout.
The Alkaline Trio top rocker and Funeral For A Friend back patch are the two that are an absolute 100% certain. Everything else is just placed there to get an idea.
I tried with so many other options and they just gave me the ick. This layout (apart from the Taking Back Sunday and Stranglers patches) has been the one I have liked the most. It's not too busy, has a nice symmetry and it's not using 75% of my decent patches on the back.

I've been getting more patches to add to the collection that I have already amassed over the years and have started to lay them out on the jacket.
The Alkaline Trio top rocker, Jimmy Eat World, Slipknot, FFAF back patch and AFI patches are the only ones stitched down at the moment, the rest are just laid out in a symmetrical design which pleases my eyes the most.
As explained in my WIP thread, there's no theme to the jacket, no specific genre. Just bands I have seen over the years and the music I enjoy!
Just not sure if what I have so far is a bit bunched up, but I am needing to leave space for more in the future.
The second pic are the ones I can't figure out where to go and/or are going on the front due to being the same band twice. Because people have got to see you like a band from all directions 😂
So I decided to make a new vest! The jacket was off of Vinted, FFAF back patch was a repurposed T-shirt off eBay and so was the Alkaline Trio top rocker. All picked up for decent prices.
I recently added my Jimmy Eat World, Slipknot and AFI round patches to get a bit of symmetry going on, and now it's deciding where all my other patches are going to go!
So yeh, I got fed up with my old jacket and decided to remove all the patches and start again on a new base.
Picked up this Levi's jacket off of Vinted for roughly £15 and ripped the arms off!
My back patch is made from a Funeral For A Friend womens t-shirt bought off ebay for roughly £12. I have cut that up, whacked some interfacing fabric on the back to prevent curling and stitched it to the vest.
I have a couple of layout plans, but nothing is definite yet. But symmetry / balance is one thing I do enjoy trying to achieve. (yes I know that Slipknot circle patch in pic 7 isn't in the right place, I forgot to correct it before taking the pic)
There is no theme. No fixed genre. Just bands I have seen and got patches for, with the odd few that I haven't seen but have been listening to for years and years.
No 'Hail Satan" top rocker on this version as it was cringe on my behalf 😂

So, I got a bit fed up with my old jacket, so I stripped the patches, bought some new ones and bought a new jacket to start over again.
The back patch is a Funeral For A Friend t-shirt made into a patch.
The majority of the patches are bands I have seen already with the odd few that I am seeing over the next few weeks.
Cradle of Filth, Misfits & Mudvayne are bands I haven't seen but listen to regularly.
The final picture is a layout mock up. Not too sure on the "Hail Satan" (I'm a Satanist) and the bats. I was thinking of putting the circle patches up there instead, or I have a large Slipknot top rocker patch that will fit there. Or do I just leave it blank and wait for the right patch to come along?
But yeah, no real theme, just bands I have seen / I like.
As for the front, I haven't got that far yet. But there's plenty of patches left over that I can add, or move from the back to the front.
My main yes is just the back patch, and that's it at the moment.

Pictures 1 & 2 are my jacket that has been stripped of everything except for the bits I definitely wanted in those positions. My old layout was very poser-esque and I didn't like wearing it. Unfortunately I did iron on some of my patches, so I have the residue to contend with / cover up.
(I may add pictures of my original layout in the responses)
Picture 3 is my latest haul. The top rocker and two bats are from ToothXNail on etsy, I've followed them for quite a while. The AFI, Bad Religion & Good Charlotte patches are from ebay sellers. To be perfectly honest I'm not too sure on the top rocker or the bats, it was an impulse buy.
Picture 4 are my old patches from the jacket that I'd like to reuse as well as stuff I already had in the drawer. It's Slipknot heavy because I have got a couple of their tour patches as well as patches from a set they done. So not all of them need to be used.
I'm also debating getting a larger back patch too, and/or removing studs where necessary.
I was struggling to find any 11mm tunnels online that weren't part of my Stretch It Body Jewellery dead stretching kit, as they get a bit heavy being thick stainless.
Thankfully I came across these on Amazon, they're extremely lightweight and I can barely notice them in my ears at all, apart from them whistling slightly when outside walking in the wind.
I will say that the sizing is slightly off. In between an 11 and 11.5. So a nice stop gap for the moment until I'm ready for the 11.5s!
