Your Mandler 35mm experiences and shots

Hi everyone,

I’ve been seriously considering the Mandler 35mm f/2, but I still can’t quite make up my mind. Some people say it’s very sharp in the center wide open, while others claim you need to stop it down to around f/5.6 before you really get good sharpness and microcontrast.

What have your experiences been?

Feel free to share some of your favorite shots taken with this little 35mm as well. I’d love to see what it’s capable of. 🙂

Thank you!

P.S.: The product shot is from the Mandler homepage.

(Almost) Fully brass M cameras

Why does the Jim Marshall Edition on the left look so worn and beaten up, while in all the official product photos it looks as if there was never any paint or coating over the brass body in the first place? Absolutely pristine.

The “used” version in the photo is actually much more aesthetically pleasing in my eyes. Not quite so spotless and polished.

Let’s use this thread to show off your well-used cameras 🙂
Maybe even with some of that classic brassing we all know and love ✨

Looking for comfortable everyday barefoot shoes

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for a comfortable everyday barefoot shoe for men that’s easy to slip on and off. The reason is an upcoming trip to Japan, where it’s common to take your shoes off before stepping past the genkan.

Ideally, the shoe should be low-cut, breathable, and comfortable for everyday wear—without leaving me with wet feet the moment it starts drizzling a little.

So far, my experience is limited to Vivobarefoot shoes:

  • Magna Lite WR SG (not fully convinced)
  • Tracker Decon FG2 (very impressed, currently my everyday shoe)
  • Forest Tracker ESC (my favorite hiking shoe for rough terrain)
  • Gobi Chelsea (when I want something a bit smarter)
  • Motus Flex (used for training, although I’ve since switched to FiveFingers for that)

Depending on the model, I wear either a size 41 or 42.

It would also be nice if the shoes didn’t immediately cost €200+.

Any recommendations? :)

Barefoot Safety Shoe recommendations?

Hi everyone,

can anyone recommend barefoot safety shoes?

At the moment I’m considering ordering the Baak Pegasus S3S, but maybe someone here has a hidden gem recommendation 🙂

IDSworks grip for Leica M

Hi everyone,

does anyone here have experience with the IDSworks grips?

They seem very similar to the Kamerakraft ones, but the deciding factor for me is: they’re available for the MP240 🙌

What I’m wondering about though is how “sealed” the battery door really is in practice. Since the original bottom plate has to be removed for it, I’d still want the battery and SD card to be at least somewhat protected against environmental influences. The product photos don’t seem to show any sealing around the door.

Is anyone here using an IDSworks grip?

My M1 Max Mac running the latest OS (26.4.1) just told me that the Elgato Stream Deck app (7.4.1 (22720)) is still written for Intel chips and only runs via Rosetta.

u/elgato: Are there any plans to optimize the app for Apple Silicon?
