How do you keep grain mites away?
Had some trouble with grain mites in the past. Now I wipe down the containers at least once a month and feed less often. Do you do anything special to keep them away?

I haven't been on a bike since I was a child. I want to relearn how to ride a bike so I can bike to work. It would be about a 10-20 minute bike ride on paved trails and roads. I don't know anything about bike types or what I'm looking for. What type/brand would be right for me? Also should I buy a new one or buy one second hand? Any helpful videos or tips appreciated! Thanks!
This fish has a shorter dorsal fin then my males but a longer fin than my females. I'm leaning towards male
I recently started getting into planted aquariums. Worked great in my other tanks but my goldfish ate everything. They ate every aquatic plant I tried so far even Anubis. I recently added pothos to the top of my tanks and not even a day went by and my goldfish ate most of the roots. I grow duckweed separately just for them to snack on and they still eat everything. Any magical goldfish proof plants plants I should try?
I've recently started learning about aquatic plants and I've been planting some in my aquarium. I live in Minnesota and I'm trying to learn about the native aquatic plants near me. I'm having trouble identifying the different species and can't find much online about the plants I find. Is there a pdf of all the aquatic plants of MN that anyone knows about?
These are my grandma's and great grandma's cook books. They have slight mold/mildew damage on the covers. They also have an old musty book smell. Most off the books don't have any damage on the pages. These books are really special to me and I want to restore them. Any tips?
I was fishing on the Minnesota River and saw a couple snakes that looked like this.
Saw this green frog fishing today. He let me get close enough for some pictures!
I rectally upgrade to a bio activity enclosure for my leopard gecko. I sprinkled the springtails in and they multiplied and are doing great. I also a couple fish tanks and I want to feed some springtails to my fish. I have some left over ones in the original container and I want to start a separate colony with them. I don't like the container they are in and I'm going to get them a bigger one. I've been researching substrates and I don't know what to choose. Can I substitute charcoal with lava rocks? I have leftover lava rocks from a separate project and they are pours just like charcoal. Or should I do a soil or clay substrate instead?
Found this partial skeleton in northern Iowa. It seems small which makes me think it's a cat or baby raccoon.
Does my new fish have the Oliver Tree haircut or just a spot on his head lol. Thinking about naming him after him as a memorial
I went fishing at a river in Minnesota. There was a big school of carp and other native rough fish. I took a picture of the group of fish and a buffalo photo bombed me! Love to see native fish!
I have 5 male guppies in a 20 gallon tank. I've had this group for about 2 months now and I can't decide what other types of fish to add to the tank. I would like to add cherry barbs but I don't know if the guppies will pick on them or not.
I inherited a bunch of jars and I'm wondering if I can use them as specimen jars. The lids have some rust damage and I'm wondering if that will damage the specimens. I like the rusty look but I will remove the rust if it will damage the specimens.
Found this mummified little guy in an old garage. I'm at a loss for what it once was. It's a little smaller than my hand for scale.
Found this piece in an abandoned barn. The scales make me think it was a fish.
I have a 40g bio active enclosure and I want to add an antler for enrichment. How should I go about disinfecting it to make it safe for me leo?
It's oddly long and has big eyes and a big mouth. All the other bulegills I caught today looked green and healthy.
About a month and a half ago I upgraded Pancho to a bio activity 40 gallon enclosure! She is still warming up to it and I'm excited to see her dig and explore. I also plan on adding driftwood and more plants!
I made a post awhile ago about preserving kitten fetuses from my anatomy class. My teacher let me keep the kittens and heart! There were supposed to be 5 kittens but 2 were so poorly developed they turned to mush. The kitten in picture 6 is poorly developed but I saved it anyway. I'm planning on tying fishing line to the kittens to keep them upright. They are in a formalin solution right now and I will change it to 70% isopropyl alcohol in a week. Any wet specimen tips are welcome these are my first ones!
