Is there any way currently to help contribute to other people's custom rosters?

With the new game on the horizon, I assume the up-to-date custom rosters are in the works. Every so often I'll see missing or incorrect information on a custom roster and fix it on my end (usually just statlines), but is there a way that I can contribute those more technical fixes to the upcoming custom rosters?

I posted on the forum already about some players in RSB's custom roster with missing stats or misspelled names. I figure it'd be good to have other people work on the small-scale fixes to make the roster creator's job easier - especially with the new history eras being added.

What are some commonly accepted "facts" in specific cases that are incorrect, exaggerated, or are in need of better sourcing?

Some examples that have stuck out to me in the past:

The death threat against Chalino Sánchez (unconfirmed): A popular video shows Sánchez being passed a note from the crowd during a performance, reading it, then continuing the show. This is notable because he was shot and murdered just hours later. It's commonly speculated that, by the way Sánchez reacted to the note, that it was a death threat of some sort. To my knowledge, this assertion has never been confirmed, with both the contents of the note and its current whereabouts being unknown.

The 1969 Christmas Eve Massacre (exaggerated): Equatorial Guinea President Francisco Macías Nguema is said to have had ~186 dissidents executed in a stadium in Malabo on Christmas Eve, 1969. What's most notable are the details - the majority were shot or hanged while the stadium's loudspeakers played the Mary Hopkin song "Those Were the Days", the rest were forced to dig ditches, buried up to their necks, and eaten alive by red ants. The massacre itself doesn't seem to be in-dispute, though misconceptions have arisen, such as it taking place in 1975 instead of 1969 (possible, but not likely), or that the executioners were dressed as Santa Claus (untrue). Due to Nguema's already ruthless regime plus a general secrecy surrounding some of his more violent acts, plus its status as a sort of "historical meme" in online circles, sources on this event can be hard to come by or trust with certainty.

Samantha Koenig's ransom photo (misleading): Serial killer Israel Keyes, seeking a ransom from Koenig's family, took a photo of her with that day's paper as evidence to her still being alive. The truth was that Koenig was already dead, and Keyes had sewn her eyes open to suggest otherwise. A recreation of the photo exists and is commonly circulated online, but the actual photo has never been made public and in fact is said to have key differences from the recreated image that people cite as the real picture.

1973 Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce bank robbery (???): This one feels like cheating, since it's a very well-documented event despite being a bit obscure. The details are simple - a man with a bomb robs a bank, gets a good deal of attention in the process, but as he leaves, a sniper shoots him and inadvertently sets the bomb off, killing the robber and injuring another officer. There's a radio broadcast from the scene, as well as photos and even footage of the moment (though frustratingly, the clearest footage I can find has a clear cut at the moment of the explosion, switching to footage of a still photograph shaken to look in-motion during a previous report rather than giving an unobstructed view.) The reason this one is weird is that, in spite of the incident happening in broad daylight in front of a large group of people - several of whom believe to have seen a person they believe to be the robber in town in the days leading up to the robbery - and ALSO in spite of the body (what was left of it) being buried and later exhumed, we still don't know the man's identity. So this is an odd one where the sources are thorough, yet that final detail is frustratingly out-of-reach. Also if someone can find the footage unaltered, that would be much appreciated.

What are some genres, movements, or artists with much of their work still absent from the RYM database?

For how thorough the site can be, it's inevitably going to have its blindspots.

One example I can think of is the new age artist Arden Wilken, who has only one album under her name on the site despite being a fairly prolific musician and a notable name in her genre during the 1980's. I would have added more of her work to the site, but I'm not great when it comes to adding non-digital issues to the database - not to mention much of her work was re-recorded for CD, meaning someone listening to the original tapes might have a much different experience from someone listening on CD or online.

Incomplete Free Agents List?

The current free agency list tends to exclude any players signed to contracts with other leagues (unless it's junior/NCAA level). I don't mind this so much, since you can sign them once they become UFA's anyway, though maybe there could be separate free agent tabs or filters so you can include or exclude players who are technically under contract in a different league but might still be eligible/interested in signing in a league like the NHL. This would probably depend on their current contract stipulations, so some players might be able to come over immediately while others might need to wait until the end of their current contract.

But I also noticed that there will sometimes be players who aren't signed to any contract at all, yet still won't be listed on the free agency page throughout the season. This has become more noticeable for me since I tend to play commissioner mode with high contract limits, so I run through a large amount of lower overall free agents. At the end of each season, I'll see a surprising number of retiring players who weren't signed with or playing for anyone in the past year, yet weren't listed as available free agents for that season. Sometimes if I can find that player's profile through a search, I can still sign them as a free agent, but they aren't listed on the free agents page, at least once the season has begun.

Maybe a more thorough free agents page and/or better free agent tracking would solve this problem? Have more UFAs signing with other leagues, but some of those leagues might be domestic (AHL-only or ECHL-only contracts, also stuff like the LNAH) and still eligible to immediately sign with your NHL team without having them just be inactive the whole year.

A few questions about the recommended artists tab

Ever since I got a last.fm, I've loved the recommended artists tab. That said, there's still some things about it that I feel completely in the dark about.

For context, I listen to a lot of ambient music, but for recommendations I tend to seek out a broad variety of genres. So sometimes I'll go to the recommended tab and dismiss some of the artists I have less interest in so I can see what else gets recommended.

My questions:

  • Does removing an artist from my recommended tab have any permanent effect? Because I'd hope for a distinction between "I'm not interested in this artist for now" and "I never want this artist recommended to me."

  • Do the artists you dismiss have any effect on what future recommendations you receive? Like if I delete a lot of my ambient recommendations, does the algorithm notice that and adjust accordingly? Or is it just entirely based on listening habits regardless of any removed recommendations?

  • Why is there this giant fish skulking around my neighborhood like he wants something, what could he realistically desire

Any clarifications are much appreciated.
