Book Recommendation

I came across this book in a local bookstore, and I was thinking of buying it but wanted some input. Has anybody read it?

Brake Pad Replacement Cost

I wanted to get the input of the Subaru community about the cost for my brake pad replacement I got earlier. TLDR: Is $783 the typical going price for brake pad and rotor replacement (one axle) at the dealership nowadays?

For background, the last time I replaced one set of brake pads and rotors was about 3.5 years ago, and back then it was only around $280. Fast-forward to today, and I needed to get my front brake pads replaced. The dealership did not quote me initially, but I knew I had to get them done anyway so I just assumed they would be as much as they were three years ago when I got them done.

However, when I got the final quote, it was $773 for just the front pads. I talked to the manager about it, and he basically said the cost of everything has gone up in the past few years, and that this is the typical price.

My wife had her brakes replaced six months ago at about the same cost, but nevertheless the price still shocked me.

Is this a typical price for a brake pad replacement, or did the dealer overcharge?

EDIT: I have a 2016 Subaru Legacy with around 110K miles on it, mostly highway.

UPDATE: I Think I Found One, Part Two.

A couple of days ago, I posted a direct message I received from a potential scammer, and you all agreed with the assessment. This is more of the conversation that ensued. I sent him an IP Grabber link that showed he was using a VPN, and then he provided me with his information to send him money, at which point I reported him to Reddit again and blocked him.

Made a visit to the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum Today

Made a visit to the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, and it gave me a greater appreciation for his presidency. It seems like his objective was just to maintain stability to navigate through some uncertain times in our history, such as Nixon’s resignation, high inflation, and unemployment. He sought to do what was right regardless of how he was viewed for it, such as pardoning Nixon. It cost him the presidency but I think history has vindicated him.

Things I did not know that I found interesting: he was a fan of Harry Truman (a portrait of Truman hung in the Roosevelt Room during his Administration), and he and Tip O’Neill had a strong working relationship.

I Think I Found One

First time getting a message like this in Reddit chat. I’m not sure what type of scam it is but it certainly seems like one.

“Judicial Imagination of Pistachio Nuts” —S. 4, Ep. 21

Had a rough week dealing with attorneys at work, and all of a sudden I am watching Season 4 Episode 1, and a paper referenced the Fourth Judicial Circuit as having “the judicial imagination of pistachio nuts.”

Needless to say, I think I’ve found a new line to use at work 😂

The next time a scammer asks you to move a conversation to WhatsApp, show them this

When I get into those situations, I tell them I don’t trust WhatsApp before I resort to messing with them. It gets them a bit riled when you don’t follow their scripted prompts.
