Tactics Vehicle Base Size Advise

I'm playing Tactics with 27mm minis and am looking to expand into vehicles. I'm curious what other have used for their base sizes or what folks recommend.

Tactics is my first non-board war game so I'm unsure what sizes fit the best for combined arms.

I'm thinking of using Star Wars Legion vehicle sizes, maybe 50mm for the light vehicles/Heavy Bots, 70mm for walkers, 100mm for small-med tanks, and possibly 150mm for heavy tanks?

I don't have any official Star Wars Legion minis nor do I play, but most of my minis are in Legion scale as it's easy to find minis/terrain online for it. I could base it off their system but I only have a 4'x3' game area and wasn't sure if it would feel too tight.

Tactics Army Builder Tool

Greetings! I received a copy of 5PFH: Tactics last Christmas and dove headfirst into the deep end (as I tend to do). The community has been super helpful answering my myriad questions so I figured I share what I’ve been doing in case it’s helpful to anyone.

I created an Army Builder Tool in Google Sheets that has all the keywords, factions, weapons, and abilities to make army building easy. Once you put your units in, it’ll automatically pull the stats, weapons, cost, and keywords. I haven’t updated for creatures or vehicles yet but I’ll be updating it eventually. I created a simple 500pt army for the Republic and Separatists from Star Wars and the UNSC and Covenant from Halo. They are meant to be balanced against each other strength wise and I have the basic profiles for other units in each faction’s tab if you want to build them out (to include some vehicles). There are instructions on how to use it but if anyone is looking through it and sees errors or has questions feel free to let me know! I caught some things and made a few QoL updates after using the cards the first time.

Additionally, I created a custom risk style campaign map and campaign rules. It’s meant to be a solo campaign but individual battles could easily be played with someone. It merges the Operational System from 5PFH: Tactics for ground battles and One Page Rules Warfleets for the fleet battles. The first link is the overall map and some of the active invasions after turn 1 while the second is the campaign rules. The rules make sense to me but I’m the intended audience and know how my brain works. If anyone wants to use them and has questions feel free to contact me.

Just wanted to give something back to the community that’s been so open to my questions. Even if you don’t use any of the above hopeful you at least found it interesting!

Warfleet Ship Stand Advice

I'm getting ready to print some stands for my OPR Warfleets ships and need some advice on adhering the ships to the stands.

I'm using the rectangle bases and will us a 3mm x 2mm magnet to fix the base to the stand.

I have an FDM printer so I plan on making a stand with a flat 17mm x 17mm square and recess a space big enough for a 10mm x 2mm magnet to fit, then glue another 10mm x 2mm magnet to each ship.

Most ships will be smaller but the biggest ship I'll need to secure is 85mm in width (3.3") x 213mm (8.4") in length x 49 mm (1.9") in height and weighs 50 grams.

Main questions are:

  1. It looks like I'd want a Neodymium silver magnet and N52 grade is the strongest best. Do I need the N52 grade or would a Neodymium N35 grade (standard) work?

  2. Preferably I'd like to use 1 magnet for all ships whether bug or small for ease. Does the 10mm×2mm make sense or does two smler magnets make more sense to prevent bigger ships from spinning?

  3. I plan on using Loctite Super Glue to adhere the magnets, is this the best solution?

Warfleets Table/Base Question

Greetings! I'm looking to get into OPR Warfleets and had a question regarding table size and base size. The rules suggest a 6'x4' gaming table but I only have a 4'x3'. My thought was to use the medium square base as the large then scale the bases down from there.

I know the rules say as long as I have a minimum 24" between the forces on deployment I'd be good but wanted it to play as "true" as possible.

Would it be better to use the normal base size on my table or scale everything down like mentioned above?

Thank you in advance!

Star Wars Tactics

Greetings fellow wargamers! I’m starting a new campaign and need some advice on how I should structure it. I made a similar post in another thread for more visibility and help as well. The campaign is called Star Wars Tactics and will use the Operational System from 5 Parsecs from Home Tactics for ground battles and One Page Rules Warfleet rules for space combat.

The galactic map is split into 17 territories with each side controlling 8 and the neutral planet of Toydaria is where the conflict kicks off.

My main conundrum is how to introduce fleet battles and what advantage it should or shouldn’t give. Most of the “action” in my campaign will be planet based but I want to sprinkle in fleet battles for fun (I’m basically trying to relive my childhood Galactic Conquest days from Battlefront 2 (the original and best one). My questions are:

  1. How many fleets should each side start with/how should they move?
    1. For context each battle on the ground is going to take 1 month and I expect each planet will be defended or fall between 8-16 months (just a guess I’ve never played 5PFH: Tactics using the Operational System yet).
    2. My initial thought is to have 2-3 fleets per side and they can each move 1 planet away every 2 months. This would mean fleet action doesn’t happen very often but would still occur at a meaningful rate.
    3. Each side would get 1 new fleet every 6 months to place on any of their controlled worlds not under siege.
  2. After a successful fleet engagement, what support should the winning fleet provide to the troops on the ground?
    1.  I’m thinking of keeping it simple and in each tabletop battle the side with the orbiting fleet gets 1 Heavy Fire Support from the 5PFH support upgrade options. This gives a meaningful bonus but is not overwhelming for the other side.

  3. How do I balance the fleets as armies win or lose on the ground?
    1. I’d probably ground rule out a few things even if it breaks “logical sense”.
    2. There could be a situation where an enemy Separatist fleet is orbiting above the battlefield but Republic forces win the day on the ground. I want to give advantages to the side that wins ground battles so I’d probably allow the fleetless Republic forces to go to the next Separatist planet and start a ground battle there. This prevents a ground force from being “stuck” but breaks Star Wars logic of a blockading fleet. Essentially the Republic forces teleport to the next planet.

Just my thoughts, I know I’ll need to make adjustments but I’d love to know what everyone else thinks. Also if anyone would like me to post battle reports and see how the conflict is progressing let me know! In real life I have a 2 year old and a new baby on the way so don’t expect any quick posts haha.
