I’m writing this after getting them tested at a jewellers and doing a test on the frames myself. I can confirm they are NOT silver.

I paid £52 / $65 for the frames + £21 / $27 for prescription photochromic lenses = £73 / $92 total.

They were sold to me as 100% silver. When I showed them the test results, they admitted the frames aren’t silver said their factory gave them fake certificates. They claim they’re pausing silver frames until they find a new maker, but have not offered a refund to me at all for either frames

It might not be fully their fault the factory sold them fake silver. But you still need to know exactly what you’re selling. They was selling these as genuine silver frames, and when they resold them to me, they should’ve checked first. That’s the part that’s really disappointing.

They’re charging silver prices for cheap metal. No refund offered even after admitting the issue. Avoid Shenzhen McLaren if you’re looking for silver frames.

I didn’t want to write this post about them, but I have to be honest, also if you purchase silver frames from them, I’m sorry as I’m the one who shared them, to this community.

Regarding their other non-silver frames they are still decent, but would just avoid them for silver frames at the moment.

I will next try Jimi next to see if their frames are silver.

This tee hits the sweet spot, medium-heavy weight cotton blend, not thin or see-through at all. It has that substantial feel you get from retail, soft to the touch but durable enough to hold its shape. The heat transfer lettering is smooth, flat, and well-applied; no rough edges, and it doesn’t feel like it will crack or peel after a few washes. Stitching is clean throughout the neckline, shoulders, side seams, and hem no loose threads or uneven construction.

Fit & Sizing:
I went XL and it fits perfectly for my frame. Length is long enough, sitting just below the waistband so it never rides up when moving around. Chest and shoulder room are generous but not overly baggy; it’s a relaxed. The sleeves land right at the mid-bicep, not too tight or too short. Great length for taller guys.

Rating: 9/10 — honestly as good as I expected. Price is a bit high but you’re paying for premium quality. If you get cheap clothes they won’t last more than 2/3 washes. Cheaper clothes always shrink.

Fit & Sizing:
Ordered Size 52 and it’s exactly what I needed. Waist sits comfortably without being tight, and there’s plenty of room through the thighs,no pulling or tight spots even with my build. Length hits just above the knee, which is ideal for summer.

Rating: Excellent quality, will definitely be wearing these all summer (I just need to remove the creases)

Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ihr meinen Beitrag von letzter Woche gesehen habt, aber ich wollte euch ein Update zu meinem Brillenprojekt geben. Bevor ich darauf eingehe, möchte ich noch erwähnen, dass ich erst seit Kurzem auf Reddit poste. Jahrelang habe ich Reddit hauptsächlich genutzt, um Rezensionen zu lesen, Produktlinks zu finden und Feedback von anderen zu erhalten. In letzter Zeit versuche ich, selbst mehr beizutragen, indem ich meine eigenen Erfahrungen teile. Hoffentlich hilft das jemandem, der etwas Ähnliches plant. Zuvor möchte ich mich aber bei einem anderen Reddit-Nutzer bedanken, der mich zu dieser Idee inspiriert hat. Durch seinen Beitrag wurde mir zum ersten Mal bewusst, dass es tatsächlich möglich ist, ein Gestell bei 1688 zu bestellen und die Korrektionsgläser separat einsetzen zu lassen. Lange Zeit wusste ich nicht so recht, wie ich das angehen sollte. Ich wollte nicht die hohen Preise der Optiker in Deutschland zahlen, vor allem, weil ich mir nicht sicher war, ob diese Gestelle überhaupt für Korrektionsgläser geeignet sind oder ob ich am Ende zu viel für Standardgläser bezahlen würde. Deshalb habe ich fast jeden kontaktiert, der ähnliche Dienstleistungen oder Lösungen anbietet. Da wir (aus dieser Reddit/Discord-Community) wahrscheinlich inzwischen zu dem Schluss gekommen sind, dass die meisten dieser Anbieter lediglich Wiederverkäufer sind, die sehr ähnliche Produkte von 1688 zu unterschiedlichen Preisen anbieten, habe ich einige von ihnen kontaktiert, darunter Jimmy Optical, Zheng, Sheng, Enzo Optical, Larry und andere. Insgesamt wirkten die meisten nicht sehr überzeugend. Entweder waren die Preise für Korrektionsgläser angesichts meiner leichten Fehlsichtigkeit (-0,75) sehr hoch, oder die Kommunikation war langsam und unzuverlässig, sodass Antworten manchmal 2–4 Tage dauerten.

Der Ablauf Ich kaufte ein JMM Ascari-Gestell von 1688 und schickte es an Cindy, damit sie Korrektionsgläser einsetzen konnte. Anschließend verschickte Cindy die fertige Brille mit dem Weiterleitungsdienst to my agent. Ich muss sagen, ich bin extrem positiv überrascht, wie reibungslos der gesamte Ablauf bisher verlaufen ist, und ich werde das definitiv wieder tun. Eine Sache möchte ich noch erwähnen: Ich habe die Brille noch nicht erhalten und kann daher noch nichts zum Endergebnis sagen. Cindy hat mir aber während des gesamten Prozesses einen sehr professionellen Eindruck gemacht. Sie hat mir Empfehlungen gegeben, alle meine Fragen schnell beantwortet und alles sehr unkompliziert gestaltet.

Wie ich bereits in meinem vorherigen Beitrag erwähnt habe, wiegt das Gestell etwa 68 g. Das hat mich zunächst dazu gebracht, über eine Rücksendung nachzudenken, da ich befürchtete, es könnte zu schwer sein. Letztendlich habe ich mich aber doch entschieden, es zu bestellen und abzuwarten, wie es sich anfühlt, wenn ich es dann in der Hand halte.

Preisaufschlüsselung

Korrektionsgläser von Cindy: ca. 34 €

Die Gläser sind Essilor Diamond Crystal Rock Membrane Gläser. Ich kenne mich mit Brillengläsern nicht so gut aus, deshalb habe ich Cindy einfach gesagt, dass ich etwas Robustes und Kratzfestes möchte.

Sie schickte mir mehrere Optionen zwischen ca. 5 € und 65 €, darunter auch Zeray Zeiss-Gläser. Da meine Sehstärke relativ gering ist (-0,75 Dioptrien), entschied ich mich gegen die Zeiss-Gläser und wählte stattdessen Essilor-Gläser, da der Unterschied für mich wahrscheinlich nicht sichtbar wäre.

Erfahrung mit Cindy Ich war während des gesamten Prozesses sehr zufrieden mit Cindy. Sie antwortete immer schnell auf 1688, war sehr freundlich und beantwortete alle meine Fragen. Das Gestell kam nach etwa vier Tagen bei ihr an, und die Gläser wurden am nächsten Tag eingesetzt und an meinen agenten versandt. Alles erreichte das Lager einige Tage später

Fazit Wenn Sie an so einem System interessiert sind, brauchen Sie sich vom Prozess nicht abschrecken zu lassen. Auch wenn die Kommunikation manchmal auf Chinesisch stattfindet, erleichtern Tools wie ChatGPT die Übersetzung und Beantwortung erheblich. Ich persönlich habe die ganze Zeit problemlos auf Englisch mit Cindy kommuniziert. Insgesamt war die Erfahrung viel einfacher als erwartet, und ich werde ein Update posten, sobald ich die Brille erhalten und getragen habe.
