I did a fresh Akumu run again. It took me almost a year to do it because I had to restart it when I got stuck on chapter 6. I’m so happy to say I got my second set of brass knuckles, and can’t wait to punch my way through everything again.

Yo, just wanted to say I’m finally getting the hang of the new rework, and I can finally dive again. As someone who loves the old kit, and would love to have it back(sans bugs), I’m finally figuring out how to make use of the new kit. Just wanted to share some good news. Good luck, my widows. Let’s make Natasha proud.
There’s two major camps here. Either you’re an OG who can’t get over what we lost(the sniper kit), or you’re relatively new who doesn’t understand that loss/an OG who was never satisfied with sniping to begin with, but still wanted to play widow for some reason.
I get both sides. Personally, I fall in the former. I spent many hours learning how to use her kit effectively, and I was finally getting good right when the rework kicked in. I thought it was gonna be a dream come true, but the execution of the rework leaves a lot of us feeling like the hard work we put in to learn a very unique and difficult hero had gone to waste. The best way I can describe this to the other side would be to say it’s like being left handed your whole life, then being forced to learn to be right handed. Yes, writing is more efficient in certain aspects, but that’s a lot of relearning to do. It’s also very uncomfortable if you liked being left handed. It just really sucks, and the pain of losing a means of expressing yourself in such a way can sting quite a bit. It’s a game, so really, it’s not that serious, but it’s something we enjoyed. Now we can’t enjoy it the way we used to.
As for the latter group, I can genuinely get it. Widow is smoother in a lot of ways. The follow up shots make it easy to track people, and allow skills from other hitscan heroes to translate really well, so it isn’t hard to pick her up and get a feel for her new kit, while still contributing to the game. She’s got more tools at her disposal and has unlimited sprint. On paper, she is objectively more streamlined than the previous iteration, and thus, easier to use, which might mean people can see her as more fun and viable in games now that dozens to hundreds of hours don’t need to be spent on her “throwing” games just to get good with her. For a lot of people who wanted to play widow, but found her kit too impractical, this rework has made her make sense. This also means new people won’t have to shy away from playing her out of fear for being ostracized by the community. Due to this change(as well as the summer skin), I’ve seen a huge increase in the number of Non Lord widows, which is refreshing. They completely wreck me because this hero now feels more familiar to the average player. I’m a level 29 widow and I’m getting diffed by people who only have 2 hours on her. In the previous iteration, you knew the work had been put in to match that degree of experience with her. But now, anyone who can aim, can finally play widow without feeling they have to completely learn a new kit, as us OGs have had to.
Either way, I love widow. I don’t know what’s gonna happen, but all I can do is play and hope I can get used to Guang’s decision. While I truly favor and loved the OG sniping, I’ll do my best to find joy in discovering how to make her work again. She’s my favorite hero to run when I’m not in healer jail. RIP old Natasha. Let’s make her proud by getting some MVPs.

Recently got Lord(yay) and started using her batons more to finish off melee dives like iron first, and BP. The real eye opener was when I did this to DD consistently. That guy used to give me nightmares. Now, my healers love me, my tanks fight longer, and I feel more confident in my abilities to do Natasha justice. I love Widow. Now I just gotta get those headshots...
