Order of operations timing question - Favor of Baalshandor
I finally picked up 4 of the 5 new investigator decks yesterday and I'm happily going through and looking at all the cool cards. One combo that immediately hopped out at me was Favor of Baalshandor and then Consume Life. You play favor, take one damage, and play consume life for 0 resources. Wombo combo. Super powerful and super fun I imagine.
Anyway, the obvious next piece of the combo is Marie's ability to draw two cards and discard one when damage is placed on her. So that means you play favor to play consume life and take one damage. Presumably at that point you can trigger Marie's ability to draw two cards and choose one because it is "after" damage is placed on her?
So you draw your cards and get a skill like blood curse. Fun times.
My question is are you able to commit blood curse to the fight action you are about to take with consume life? Or has the window to commit cards passed by that point? Or do you only place the damage on Marie after the attack is completed?
Any rules experts able to help me out as I'm planning to take Marie solo through the new core expansion this weekend. :)
What are some of your favourite small background details?
I get the feeling that, as much as Kubrick was an unrelenting perfectionist, he must have also had a wonderful sense of humor. There are so many small background details in his movies that are genuinely delightful and often hilarious when you notice them. I'm wondering what are some of your favourite background details like this.
I'm watching Eyes Wide Shut today (the first time with an 85" mini LED TV and Dolby Vision player!) and beyond being blown away by the visuals, I've noticed so many little background details I've never seen before. My favourite so far is the literal angel over Bill's shoulder when he's in Domino's apartment and awkwardly negotiating a rate with her. The angel obviously ties into the themes of the movie, including temptation, the Garden of Eden, etc, but having this visual gag of an angel on Bill's shoulder when he's about to do a bad bad thing was, I found, quite funny.
So what are your favourite small background details?
I've always loved this moment. Alice's eye roll as Sandor keeps pushing is hilarious.
This is one of my favourite Kubrick moments. Maybe Alice was interested in Sandor at the start but by this point she's obviously made up her mind that nothing is going to happen, yet the dude keeps pushing and pushing. Her exasperated demeanor in this moment is so real. I love this moment whenever I'm watching EWS.
It's been a while since I've had time to play, but I'm locking in and getting some games in
I have a full collection because I'm a completionist, but I haven't had much chance to play any Marvel Champions in way too long. But I'm going to lock in and do every Civil War leader at least once and play some of the newer and my lesser played heroes at the same time.
First up is a Thor Cameo deck featuring Moon Knight against Captain America. After that I have Hercules ready to go against She-hulk and then Wonder Man against the Vision. After that I'll probably play some two hand games.
It's good to be back at the table!
I'm watching Voyager for the first time. Tell me something I won't understand now that will make sense at the end of the show.
I know the absolute broadest of strokes about the show. Released in the mid-nineties. It follows the normal pattern of reseting itself back to staus quo at the end of every episode. Seven of Nine appears in the mid third season. The Doctor is the Data character. And that's about it. Oh, and Neelix is creepy. And he merges with Tuvok and Janeway decides to unmerge them. And something about breaking the warp 10 barrier and Paris turning into a lizard. Or something.
Anyway, yeah, that's all that I know. So tell me something I won't understand now that will make sense at the end of the show.
My setup to watch the big V.
