Hoping to slap with the Choke Hold from Bucktail Johny’s!

So Friday’s tournament is nearly here and I am planning on running some things different than normal, one of which would be the choke hold clatter bait from bucktail with my Mammoth Cave Lure Co Creek Freak.
Water will be mostly clear, and I intend to run this over and through rocks and boulders just a few feet down near the bank.
If you are doing a tourney this weekend what are you running?

So I had quite the bass fishing experience…

I was a co angler in a recent bass tourney with a really nice guy who spends his whole life fishing.
I think his wife passed, he only eats 1 meal a day, and the only thing else he does is fish.
The tourney was on his home lake, which he lives on.

He is an absolute hammer with a spinnerbait and he was kind enough to show me exactly how to do it, and he encouraged me to try to copy him exactly- I really needed to catch some more fish for us to have a chance at winning!

Anyways, whether I used my spinnerbait, or the exact same spinnerbait that he was using, or when we were using crankbaits-

He was pulling in fish constantly. He probably caught 20 bass.

I caught 1. 6pm to 2am, I fished my hardest, I never took a break, and I worked so hard and it looked like I was doing the exact same things he was doing with the exact same cadence, and yet he was smashing, and I was nearly skunked.

I think there is a LOT more nuance to fishing than people think. People rush to the newest lure or the newest color- but I think at the end of the day ultimately it’s all about the sweat equity and skill, in ways too nuanced to even really see.

Shown are the arboghast jitterbug 2.0 and a spinnerbait and chatterbait from Johnny’s Custom Lures. I caught the 1.7lbs bass, my only bite, on that chatterbait running it in VERY shallow water through rocks which is usually what works best for me.

Trailers are Mammoth Cave Lure co Creek Freaks.

I am back from BladeShow!

Hey guys, I am back from BladeShow and I am hoping to unwind a bit today.
I will however have some new sales and some special new items up on the website today, likely with a BladeShow discount!

I learned a TON, let me know if you have any BladeShow questions.

Going forward I hope to go back into sharing some adventures, and I have some great ones planned!

I’ll probably do a more thorough write up soon.

Bladeshow, here I come!

I’m wrapping up some last minute, emergency goat fencing repairs right now but after that I’ll be on the road!
Btw, I won’t likely do a lot of updates here on reddit but elsewhere I’ll get a schedule for the weekend posted, and I’ll even have a special something to give away.

These Baker Forge 80crv2 and wrought iron AdventureCrafts are gonna knock somebodies socks off!

Catfish, and a snapper

Yesterday I caught an 8+ lbs channel cat and learned a LOT about hook placement on bait. Multiple times Inhad cats take my bait and get off, and the hook point was rotating and diving into the bait instead of the fish.

I think it’s a 7/0 gamagatsu (sp) octapus hook that I was using.

Anyways, I also caught my first snapper… so that sucked.

I’m new here

Hey guys, I LOVE cat fishing but I generally only ever catch channel cat.
Admittedly I don’t catfish as much as I would like, but I plan on changing that.
So far I have only caught a few channels, all over 10lbs. Pictured is my trophy channel who was 35” and 16.7lbs and my oldest boys channel who was 29” and 11.5lbs.
Both caught on my Zebco Big Cat combo.

I’m new here!

I just thought I would say hi and show some of the sunfish I have caught lately.
I usually catch long ear, rock bass, or green sunfish.

My go to rod set up is a telescoping zebco ultralight with a micro 33 trigger spin.

I make baits and sell baits as well, but for some reason they often become my backup baits. I always want to try other stuff and other peoples baits and when I’m having a hard time I throw mine on and get em haha

New here, and new color

Hey guys, I am a pretty new bait maker and I think I came up with a new standard color “golden shiners”

It seems to work REALLY well in stained water! And of course in places with golden shiners haha

Stoked to share and learn! I just got one of the power stir pots and I’m hoping to do a big batch of craws today, hopefully much more efficiently that when I was using the old measuring cup and micro wave method.

I’m new here

And I like fixed blades for edc. In fact I have been carrying a fixed blade for edc almost exclusively for years.

Here are my main 3 current carries. You can tell which is oldest clearly enough I bet haha

And for clarities sake- these are my design and brand manufactured by white river, the AdventureCraft (smaller) and Jackalope.
