MLB.com ranks the Padres 30th out of 30 in the farm system
30. San Diego Padres
2026 preseason rank: 30
2025 midseason rank: 30
2025 preseason rank: 25
2024 midseason rank: 28
Top 100 prospects: Ethan Salas, C (No. 23)
It’s a cycle with the Padres. Have enough Major League success to be buyers at the Trade Deadline and push the first-round pick lower for the next year’s Draft. Develop just enough prospect talent to get trades over the line but leave a thin group remaining. Repeat. After buying once again at this year’s Deadline and sending top prospects Kash Mayfield, Miguel Mendez and Joniel Hernandez elsewhere, the Padres will next face the development part of that process, especially when it comes to 2026 picks and top-five prospects Coleman Borthwick and Elliot Lascelles. In a positive move, the organization has helped Ethan Salas stay healthy and productive in his age-20 season, and he’s reascended the ranks to become a top-25 overall talent again as a well-rounded backstop.
Per Craig Stammen in the Post-Game Interview: Miller and Morejon are totally fine. Just wanted to give them each an extra day off.
Also said Bradgley probably earned an extra day off at some point after stepping up tonight, and talked about how the bullpen guys are kind of their own team and lift each other up when one of them is feeling tired.
Kyle Hart Last 7 games: 13.1 IP, 0 ER, 7H, 3BB, 14 K’s, 0.75 WHIP
Since he took the L vs KC on July 17. He has lowered his ERA from 5.82 to 4.18.
How is everyone feeling about Kyle these days? Is he the odd man out if/when Joe comes back?

NLBest has octupled its moderators!
After a grueling three day process involving thousands of applicants, hundreds of interviews, and an (unrelated) six military tribunals, the following individuals have joined the mod team at NLBest:
u/pr1ntf
u/Kanotari
u/officerdoot
u/mlsweeney
u/greengye
u/m3Core
u/SDFriar
Overall, this amounts to 2 Padres mods, 2 Dodgers mods, 2 Dbacks mods, and 1 Giants and 1 Rockies mod. Going from 1 to 8 is a *huge* jump and there are likely to be some growing pains, so rather than force each team to have 2 mods, I just picked people that I felt made the most compelling case to be immediately useful. And also paid me the requested $50 bribe.
We’ve already started internally talking about ways we can improve the sub, including adding more automoderator commands and a meme repository where users can quickly access the trademarked NLBest meme templates. So stay tuned for that.
Later, nerds!
Recruiting New Mods for NLBest
Hello everyone,
It has come to my attention over the past few months that I am currently the only active moderator on NLBest. A few months ago, I reached out to the different moderator teams from every NL West Team asking if any of them would like to join and help me out with moderating the NLBest sub. The only response was from one member of the Giants Reddit page, who politely declined.
With the All-Star break looming, this seems like as good of a time as any to try to recruit some extra help. If you click the link above, you’ll see seven expertly crafted questions that I will take a look at to see how we can build out a balance moderation team.
As some of you are aware, I am also a moderator for the Padres Reddit. I am not naïve enough to try and insist that there aren’t possibly scenarios in which I might treat members of the Padres Reddit community differently (more or less harshly) based on the fact that I am also moderator there, and so I would ideally like to recruit at least one member representing each team to join the moderation team here in order to balance things out.
If you have a good sense of humor, a cool head, and at least $50 to Venmo me as a bribe, please consider filling out the above application.
Gianmarco Soresi, Taylor Tomlinson, and Reggie Watts are the lineup for one of the S2 Episodes of Crowd Control
Screenshot from IG. This is the first pic that I’ve seen that gives us a definitive look at the whole lineup for this episode.
I keep hearing “Fire Preller, Fire Stammen, Fire Souza,” but y’all are forgetting:
[Mets] Carlos Mendoza is no longer managing the Mets; Andy Green to serve as interim manager
Jake Cronenworth did not bat 2nd for AAA El Paso tonight as expected, and is also not DH’ing. Clay Dungan is in at 2B.
No word yet on the reason for the late scratch. Box Score may still show Jake as being in the game, but he is not.

With their win today, the Padres are now 23-1 when scoring 5 or more runs this season.
The sole loss was against Arizona on April 26, which the Padres lost 7-12 after blowing a 7-2 lead in Bot 7.
They scored 5+ runs in 13 wins in April.
They scored 5+ runs in 6 of their wins in May.
5 of those 5+ run wins have happened in the 15 games played in June thus far.
Out of their 35 losses so far, 13 would have been wins if they had scored 5 runs.
Electrical Safety Inspection for house built in 2019 results: 3 items identified. Any of these serious?
I had an electrical safety inspection done today as part of my HVAC/Electrical/Plumbing company yearly membership. Hadn’t had one done before. I am fully aware that they will find and tell me everything even remotely that needs addressing in order to make a profit.
Three things popped up. One was a laughable “there’s paint on your breaker, need to replace the whole panel. That’ll be $10,000.”
The second was a whole house surge protector. House was built in 2019 so this wasn’t part of code requirements yet. $900 to install.
The third was actually a code violation from the updated 2017 code that had never been caught. “Dual Main Grounding System Level One.” There’s no ground from the meter, just from the breaker box. That will be $1k to correct.
My inclination is to say pound sand with the breaker and surge protector. Given that the Ground is a code violation, that’s the only one I’m really giving any thought to.
I’d love some other opinions. Thanks in advance!
