ISO name of 1960s board game

Wonder if anyone can help me find the name of a board game I vaguely remember. Would've been in the mid or late 1960s, a board game aimed at girls, had stand-up store fronts (I think), and the game pieces that you moved around the board were figures of little girls. I remember a lot of the plastic being a very bright orange-red color.

Was NOT Mall Madness, Let's Go Shopping, or Park and Shop. Thank you in advance!

Another killer (pun intended) lineup tonight on TCM: Scarlet Street, The Killers, and Nightmare Alley

Scarlet Street (1945), The Killers (1946), and Nightmare Alley (1947). Enjoy!

Mister, I was made for it.

A North Fork Legacy (book)

https://flatheadbeacon.com/2026/06/08/a-north-fork-legacy/

Looks fascinating and I've put a hold on it (actual title: “Trail Creek: A North Fork Saga”) at the library. I can see that it would be a bit somber because those days and that lifestyle are long gone.

But I am glad that my wifely duties don't include holding the flashlight so my husband can shoot pack rats in the cabin in the middle of the night!

What a trio: The Maltese Falcon, Double Indemnity, and Detour -- tonight on TCM

I know these films are widely available elsewhere, but if you want the TCM intros and outros and just like kicking back with the channel and a big bowl of popcorn (or some booze), here ya go. Pure noirvana.

Tatcha eye cream - Brightening or Silk Peony?

Really need an eye cream and with the AAPI 10x I'm considering Tatcha since I really like their Silk Canvas primer. Does anyone have an opinion on the Brightening one (orange container) vs. the Silk Peony one (white jar)? I'm older with dry skin, genetic undereye darkness but no puffiness, a few crow's feet wrinkles. Thanks very much!

Looking for the date of a quote from the unabridged journals

I own a copy of "The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath" and want to read the quote "Perhaps some day I'll crawl back home, beaten, defeated. But not as long as I can make stories out of my heartbreak, beauty out of sorrow" in context. Does anyone know the date she wrote this?

Thanks very much in advance from a Plath fan for 50 years.

PSA: A pictorial view of why the Going-to-the-Sun Road is not completely open in May

Here is a photo essay from the Flathead Beacon from May of last year that will hopefully help some people who wonder "How can it be that the plows are out but the road isn't completely open?"

https://flatheadbeacon.com/galleries/clearing-going-to-the-sun-road-2025/

It is a harsh area. They can plow a section and the next day it's buried in an avalanche. Giant boulders may be in the road and have to be blasted out. Even after the road is plowed they have to put back all the guardrails and signs that are removed every autumn (they are removed because if they didn't, the snow and avalanches would sweep them all to the bottom of the valleys). The Logan Pass Visitor Center may very well have snow up to the roof.

Hope this helps!

If you were going to create a Christie-themed room in your home, what would you have?

I have an unused room (a separate shed, actually) that I can do anything I want with, and am thinking of turning it into an AC-themed sitting room or reading room. It has electricity but no plumbing, which is fine since it would be just for me and not rented out or anything. It's 12' x 12'.

Would you do a 1920s or 1930s themed room, or would it be modern with touches like movie posters of Christie adaptations on the wall, or a mix of both? Besides books, I could definitely have some Marple-esque knitting because I really do knit. I'm eyeing an upholstered "chair and a half" that would be big enough for me to nap on and of course I'd have to have a framed photo of Dame Agatha herself.

Your thoughts?

What are your favorite companion books to Christie's works?

This thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/agathachristie/comments/1te5rxy/i_inherited_this_from_my_grandmother_along_with_a/ got me to wondering what you all would consider the best companion books to the works of Dame Agatha.

Mine would be the one from the aforementioned thread, "The Bedside, Bathtub & Armchair Companion to Agatha Christie" by Riley & McAllister. Secondly, I love "The Agatha Christie Companion: The Complete Guide to Agatha Christie's Life and Work" by Dennis Sanders & Len Lovallo, and thirdly "The Agatha Christie Who's Who" by Randall Toye is nice to have. I'd imagine the Who's Who would be especially helpful if you're a writer (which I am not) but it's still fun if, for example, you're reading a book and suddenly you think, "Wait, didn't Christie already have a character named Sir Aloysius Wiffledork?" or whatever.

A slightly different kind of book are non-linear fictional biographies of Marple and Poirot from Anne Hart, "The Life and Times of Miss Jane Marple" and "The Life and Times of Hercule Poirot." Those remind me of little details I may have missed in the books such as the fact that Hastings had a Great-Aunt Mary.

Finally, for biographies, of course AC's own autobiography is a must-read IMO.

What are your faves?

I used to use Kenra Shine Spray and liked it, but they seemed to have changed their formula and now, not so much. Tried a mini of IGK's "Disco Disco Clear Gloss Shine Spray" and hate it -- it smells horrible and doesn't add any shine.

I have some heat protectant products that I use when blow drying my hair, but I'm looking for something to use for just shine in between wash & dry days. My hair is straight, neither fine nor coarse, medium length. Thanks very much!

Hope this is OK to post. I recently discovered "Bella Grace" magazine, and it def has a cottagecore/slow living/simple living vibe that I love. So I thought I'd buy some used issues on eBay but the early ones (a couple from 2016 and 2017) aren't nearly as good as recent ones. They have long, rambling, strange articles with tons of uninteresting photos of other people's children, etc. Was there a certain point where the focus of the magazine changed, to be more romantic and cozy? Thanks very much!
