Overwatch 2 (Latest Update) lagging and stuttering ONLY when moving mouse

I don't even know how to describe this issue.

I've ran Overwatch 2 on my linux system for years with almost no issue (outside of a networking problem once). For some reason, even though I'm physically moving my mouse smoothly across the desk, my hero's view is extremely jittery/framey. I paused to show that my mouse isn't the issue. THIS DOESNT OCCUR ON ANY OTHER GAME.

I've tried different Proton-GE variants, but I didn't switch from my default one when this started happening, so it wasn't the cause.

This is the same mouse I've always used. Logitech G502X. Same system and same Distro (CachyOS).

Any advice?

EDIT: After sitting afk for about 30 minutes, my CPUs calmed down. Looks like this is a symptom of the shaders compiling? This literally has never happened before so I'm so confused.

NVIDIA System's boot manager has very low resolution, AMD doesn't

This is a hard one to explain but I'm going to try my best. I've been perusing both Arch and CachyOS Wiki pages trying to find information with this but no luck. Im not sure if this is a bug or a feature.

Basically my screen is 1440p. When I boot into any boot manager like Limine (shown), Grub, or Systemd-boot on my AMD GPU system, the boot menu fits my 1440p screen. However, on my NVIDIA GPU system, it seems the menu is rendered at like 680p, in very large font.

If I were to guess, it probably has something to do with the fact that Mesa drivers are open source and maybe the boot loaders can't use the NVIDIA driver before boot?

Can I "fix" ny nvidia system so it renders the menu in 1440p? Could someone with more knowledge explain what's happening and how it works? I'd love to learn something new today.

Cheaters in Area Battle have made it impossible to grind

We were winning 48 to 11 and then this cheater rage toggled and killed the entire lobby, spawncamping us.

Attempting to report him crashed my game.

My friend checked his "recently played" with section after the match and it was cleared. Despite the fact that it was working a few games ago, his recents says he hasn't played with ANYONE.

Not sure what's cheats or glitches anymore.

Cheating is terribly simple, popular, and needs to be fixed NOW

After returning to this game a few months ago (last played in the beta), content is great, at least as a new player. One of the biggest issues this game is facing is its cheating problem. This game has crazy amounts of cheats and I'm shocked that nothing is being done about it.

An Ochako I just fought could lift everyone across the map into the air, spam down thousands of gammas, and shoot straight through walls; while also having infinitely recharging abilities, constant plus ultra, and could revive themselves from death. Even when their whole team died, their dead body was sliding across the ground and then the Ochako and their entire team was revived in place.

There are people with MILLIONS of damage, players with "hack" or cheat sites in their name. The game has so much cheating that, just like Rainbow Six Siege, there are money-hungry cheat groups genuinely providing free cheats to the community just for the fun of it.

There is:

  • ESP cheats
    • Works on enemies
    • Health indicators
    • GP indicators
    • Plus ultra values of opponents
    • Identifies the rank of a player
    • If the player is a bot
    • Downed state
  • Movement cheats
    • Speed boosts
    • Air jumps
    • Jump height
    • Flight
    • Teleporting
    • No clip
  • Character cheats
    • Swap your own character
    • Your teams characters
    • The entire lobbies characters
    • Rapid attacks
    • Always-on plus ultra
  • Crazy shit
    • Damage multipliers
    • God mode
    • permeation mode
    • instant self revive
    • Revive entire team (EVEN WHEN DEAD AND SPECTATING)
    • Crash the lobby
    • Kill the entire lobby
    • Make hundreds of clones of your current character
    • Teleport all the loot in the lobby to you and your team
    • Teleport all the civilians to you
    • AFO Warp everyone in front of you.

The worst part has to be the "safety" features these cheats have. They can have their cheats disable when someone is spectating them. They can crash your game if you click the report button while spectating them. There's half a dozen others too.

This game's playerbase is small enough that manual surveillance is a genuine possibility. You could pay a few devs to manually review cheat reports and punish people. You could also not use a severely outdated version of Easy Anti-Cheat, use server side cheat detection, or collab with trusted content creators to have cheaters they find banned.

There's so much they could do for their battle royale cash cow that they choose not to.

EDIT: 5th comment is a dude bragging that he cheats daily. Genuinely insane.

AFO becomes the hero of the franchise and OFA's descendants become villains, what are some interesting headcanons you have about what'd change?

"The ability to give and take could have been the kindest power in the whole world." This quote from Yoichi had me thinking after rewatching the series. All For One was forced to survive in a chaotic era caused by the emergence of Quirks. If he had more resolve, tenacity, or empathy, he could have used his power to do serious good.

On the contrary, if Yoichi was born evil and One For All was born after AFO's generosity to give his quirkless brother a power, how would the series have changed? One For All could be a seriously dangerous power in the wrong hands. An evil power that, even after being defeated, is destined to come back even stronger. Rather than cultivating strength and defiance, it cultivated generational rage, anger, and violent urges.

What do you think? What are some fun thoughts/headcanons you have? This is just a silly shower thought so have fun with it!This is just a silly shower thought so have fun with it!

Can we get a "needs-to-be-fixed" list of Kurogiri bugs? It's impossible to play him when Fairy Nejire is so much easier.

Kurogiri is in a very strange place as a character. He's seen a bunch in pro play but not very often in casual/competitive play. One of the main reasons, outside of him being a not-so-popular character in the series, is because his kit is extremely powerful in the hands of a pro, but the bugs make him headache-inducing for most.

The amount of bugs this character has is impressive. The purpose of this post is to list off as many as possible so people can spread awareness. I'm just going to list off some of them for those who haven't played him:

Alpha related:

  • Alpha's don't go exactly where the crosshair aims, they'll inch to the sides or below.
    • This effect is far worse in drone form.
  • Despite piercing, Alpha's won't go through all geometry.
  • Alpha's will sometimes go straight towards the sky.

Special (Bail Out) related:

  • Bail Out (SP) has a high chance to not pull teammates. Sometimes this occurs twice in a row.
  • Bail Out (SP) has a chance to pull enemies standing nearby instead of downed teammates.
  • Bail Out (SP) has a chance to consume both charges despite one input.
  • Bail Out (SP) doesn't refund you if your teammate dies during it, even if they've been successfully teleported to your location.
  • Teammates teleported can still take damage from enemies at their previous position, especially if the enemy is lagging.

Gamma (drone) related:

  • If you hold Jump or Crouch in the Drone (Gamma), while holding any key in WASD, you will continue moving horizontally even if you let go of WASD. Vice versa, pressing WASD while (de)ascending will do nothing.
  • Beta portals created by the drone (drone portals) have a chance to despawn immediately, with no one going through them.
  • Drone portals, when hitting an enemy, have a chance to do damage but not pull the enemy.
  • Drone portals, when hitting an enemy, have a chance to pull the enemy but not do damage.
  • Drone portals have a chance to spawn directly in front of the drone despite still holding the button.
  • Drone portals have a chance to fly directly upwards despite aiming them elsewhere.
  • When entering the drone, the drone's camera won't face where the player's body was facing.
  • When exiting the drone, the player's view won't be the same as it was when entering.
  • Your drone will randomly break without anyone shooting it, even in Training.
  • Alphas in drone will occassionally shoot straight up, 20 degrees to the left, or 20 degrees to the right of your FOV.

Portal related:

  • Portals will sometimes be unenterable, by anyone on any team.
    • Sometimes this only affects downed teammates.
  • Kurogiri won't always teleport with the quick (tap) portal.
    • This is usually when falling.
  • Portals can sometimes pass through people, without hitting them, without them having I-frames.
  • Portals cannot be placed straight up. The max is 80 degrees.
  • Portals cannot be placed straight down. The max is ~70 degrees.
  • Portals easily get stuck on geometry that it shouldn't.
  • Enemies can deal damage or even down you from your last position if you enter a portal during a combo, as your hitbox remains in your old position until you recover (airflip). In some cases, your old hitbox can be TOD'd with your downed body landing far away from a fight.
  • In rare occasions, portals can be placed inside geometry or under the map.
  • Enemies occasionally won't be knocked down when entering your portals.
  • Kidnapped enemies will occasionally, instantly teleport back.
  • When sending enemies into storm, there's a chance they instantly teleport back.
  • When sending downed enemies into storm, there's a chance they just float in the air indefinitely, until they hit a movement key.

Bizarre bugs:

  • When creating a beta portal from within your drone, the exit of the portal used to appear in front of your body. Now it tries to appear on the side of your body closest to the center of the map, but only in a 180 degree cone in front of your player model. If it can't face the center of the map, it will be put on your left or right side, whichever is closest.
  • After creating an instant, tap portal, there is a very small chance the endpoint becomes bugged. Until that bugged portal disappears, any teleporting you do will result in you being tp'd to that portal's endpoint. If you walk through that portals entrance, you'll land at the exit (expected). If you go through that portal's exit, you'll appear at the same exit. If you use your gamma raid, you'll appear at that portal's exit. Once the portal disappears, the bug is undone and teleports work as expected.

...and many more. I'm fairly new to Kurogiri and these are all bugs I have personally experienced, sometimes multiple times in a single match. These issues don't exist on other characters that I've played. What I mean is that the aim related ones aren't part of the aim system or bad aim. Some of these may have been secretly patched. For example, I haven't experienced the "bugged portal" bug in the bizarre section for a long while.

Let me know in the comments if you've experienced any others, or if any other characters are buggier!

If you could retcon one part of the series, what would it be?

For me it would be Kurogiri's >!death at the end of the show, because it wasn't a necessary death. It isn't even mentioned after it happened. Bakugo just kills him. I would've liked for him to have passed out, have gone through meticulous mental-health therapy, the pain of Shigaraki's loss, and perhaps the eventual rexovery of his consciousness. !<

>!After the timeskip, it would've been nice to see Aizawa, Mic, and a still-mentally recovering Shirokumo. Yes I know he's a walking corpse but he's been reanimated, and his vestige (soul) is still there.!<

Idk, maybe I'm crazy. What do you guys think? And what would you personally retcon?

Is the Endeavour Headquarters Discord paused for a reason anyone knows?

Since modding posts are allowed again, I was wondering if the Endeavour Headquarters server, the server that has a majority of the mods, will be made joinable again. The mods found on nexus and gamebanana are lackluster for the most part and few in number.

Does anyone know why the server is paused?

Ultra Rumble needs long term player (retention) rewards

Coming back to Ultra Rumble after last playing in the open beta has been a blast. There's been a ton of characters added, the extension of the special license, and a decent flow of rewards for newer players. However one thing has become apparent and has echoed between my group of long-time players. There aren't fun rewards for long-term f2p players to grind for.

I'll be the first to admit that the beginner's experience has been great. I got a ton of tickets from the beginner's event, notebook, ranked rewards, and the passes. After collecting 2000 tickets for pity, I got 3-4 styles that I was happy with, a few PUR costumes, and a buttload of souls. But all of that occured a few weeks into the season.

Since then, the influx of rewards has been dry. I've only gotten 159 tickets since the 4th week of the season. While I understand this is a gacha game that needs to make money, this is just miserable.

While this isn't my main point: the game has a large cheating problem and a character cost problem (if you choose to use real currency). Together, they make for an unbearable long-term experience. On one hand you need to grind away to get scraps. on the other, every game has a 5-10% chance to have a cheater ruining the experience. It's not a fun cycle. Many people create multiple smurf accounts to solve both issues. If you create a brand new account, you can play against noobs ans bots, avoiding cheaters, while also harvesting new player rewards, avoiding the lack of long-term player rewards.

---

My solution is this: Create systems that reward loyal, long-term players while also giving newer players meaningful goals to chase. It doesn't need to be anything financially-ruining. Here are some ideas:

- After reaching a specific level in the season pass, e.g. level 60, you are given an account token. This token gives you access to a special event OR roll that persists for long-term players.

The event would refresh with new missions upon completion and would grant SMALL amounts of tickets that REQUIRE you to play games. My idea would be 10 for playing a game, 10 for playing a ranked game, and 10 for playing with a friend.

If you do the roll instead, have the roll take something cheap like gold for example. It would have a chance to give 10, 20, or for a super-rare, 100 tickets as a thank you for retention.

Maybe combine both. The missions give a special currency that can only be used on this "thank you for your support" roll that has a chance to give you tickets.

You could also expand the research notebook, adding more and more tickets to the later tiers of the book. Maybe have the research notebook eventually repeat?

---

My intentions aren't to ruin this game or get everything in the game for free in a week. I just think the game has a ton of systems targeting new players and almost none for the loyal day-one-ers.

Thoughts?

Returning Player Here - How is OFA Deku fair whatsoever?

Basically just the title. How are you supposed to fight him or win against him? He can hold his moves till the moment you recover and combo you. If you're alone his entire kit is designed to be hyper-mobile with tracking, so the mobility doesn't negatively affect him. You need to possess absurd levels of skill to hit him out of his moves with non-tracking alphas.

In 1v1's he can infinite you.

If he's got his team so it's a 3v1 they can all hit you during his melee "triple uppercut" because it acts as a grab.

If you've got your team he can single people out and has an insane AOE slam move that will catch everyone in a mile radius.

What can you do, especially without counterpicking or countertuning?

Edit: The answer is either pray or bite the pillow.
