Shadow 2 Compact - Reminder to Inspect your gun

Shadow 2 Compact - Reminder to Inspect your gun

Was planning on shooting my S2C this weekend and figured I would strip it down & do a quick clean/lube so it would be ready. Broken recoil spring. Called CZ customer service and they said to fill out the warranty claim on website an replacement would be sent out asap.

DWX Compact Final Boss

Sig Romeo X Pro Enclosed Optic on OEM DPP Plate. Rear Sight is a AmeriGlow .295 total height. TLR-7 HL-X using 1913 Key #2, Henning Group Fully Checkered Contour Grip Panels for CZ 75 Compact/P-01/DWXc. Black K Trigger.

Optic is almost perfect doesn’t hang off. Sits very low into the slide even with the DPP Plate.

The grip panels are exactly what I wanted. Same contoured design as the Frag Pattern but much, much more aggressive. So you actually can get some traction with support hand. Grips Panels are same color as the OEM Frag Pattern panels.

DWX Refinish - 360 Rounds

Put 360 Rounds through the DWX compact on Sunday. Finish appears to be holding up. Shimming the FCU/Chassis appears to have work and prevented the barrel from getting gouged.

Bringing It Back - Rocking Retro

Bringing Back shoulder rigs. Falco Sherman in Saddle Brown. TRP Operator is at Springfield getting the rear sight replaced due to a dead tritium vile. So the Champion Operator is stepping up today.

Details: Falco Model D633 L - full custom rig. Can get in Brown, Black, Saddle Brown (mine). “Holster” is a Roto Design. Optic Ready by default. Gun rides vertically, there is a snap retention strap you release that allows the entire holster to rotate about 45 degrees, a little less if it’s light bearing like mine so your draw is more horizontal. That strap is under the trigger guard. Most of the retention is passive. It’s a tight fit. It feels pretty natural but will take practice to draw quickly. Holster is molded for the TRP Full rail with an X300. You don’t actually see the holster all that much because it sits between two of leather pieces that allow it to rotate. Hardware is nice. Everything is adjustable. I’m still working on adjusting the holster side to get it just right. Belt loops definitely need to be used and keeps the holster and mag carrier from moving around. Mag carrier is vertical and mags drop out. I had mine made for single stack 8 round mags and the fit is perfect for the Wilson Combat 47D mags.

DWX Finish - 2nd Time Updates

Received my DWX Compact OR back from Dan Wesson today. The finish is different than original and definitely different from the refinish done in Oct 2025. They also fitted a new Red trigger. Guess they realized the original trigger fit really bad. They did not address fitment issues I brought up in my claim. Not in writing and not verbally, invoice does not show any labor for fitment etc. Sooo I’m going to address the fitment of my chassis to grip frame.

The chassis has always felt looser than it should be especially compared to other DWX Compacts I’ve compared it too. Took measurements today. Avg of 30 measurements at wides point of chassis is 16.30mm the average internal measurement of the “frame” pocket where the chassis sits 16.44mm. Since I’ve been told before by DW that it was “in spec” I have to assume the tolerance is a massive 0.006 inch (0.15mm). This is a non moving part. 6/1000 is extremely sloppy. The chassis is held in place by tension placed on a spring by the slide stop pin. That is a lot of sloppy space to try and cover with a simple spring. Using some 0.15mm stainless steel shim material I cut a small rectangle 7mm x 10mm. This will fill the slop. I removed the chassis and reinstalled with shim on the left side (safety side) of the chassis. No more shifting. Slide now sits perfectly centered in the grip (see last picture) and the side to side wobble of the slide & chassis is virtually gone.

Test firing tomorrow. Will see if this keeps the barrel/slide etc in place correctly and eliminates the scouring that has been happening to the barrel and barrel hood etc.

The Optics Game

Keep changing optics smh..currently running the Osight XR on my C24. Have run RMR Type 2, DPP from factory. Can’t seem to find what I like. Might just go back to irons on this one. Like the XR, enclosed is good for carry and it’s crystal clear to my astigmatism eyes. The RMR is more compact but window feels too small. The DPP is meh. Suggestions?

DWX Compact & X300 Fix

For those of us with OCD who want to run a Surefire X300 on the DWX Compact but don't like the gap between the light and trigger guard left by the standard surefire "keys". Found a solution that sets the x300 all the way back against the trigger guard. No gap. Like it is supposed to be.

DWX Refinish - Update

EDIT: To clear up some confusion. “Before” is today, at the range, only 105 rounds since I got it back from DW. The “After” is today at range, after shooting another 150 rounds.

Follow up post on my DWX Compact Refinish. Dan Wesson refinished the slide/barrel and replaced slide stop, safety etc back in October 2025. I put 7 mags, 105 rds through it and stopped. The wear was showing. Figured I would sell the gun before it got worst. Haven’t shot since November.

Fast Forward. I decided to document the wear issue. 150 rounds exactly. Before & After pics side by side. You can see the wear growing. Not sure if pictures really capture it. But it in person. It’s crazy how much it wears with so little use.

You can see my photos in previous post from when I got it back and compare to the “After” side in these. That’s only 255 rounds since it was refinished. The scratch on the slide shows how thin this DLC really is. This scratch happened drawing it from a holster when I first got it back. PSA don’t use kydex with these. Leather only.

Extremely disappointed. Will be contacting Dan Wesson customer service again to see if there is anything they will do.

Picked this up yesterday at LGS for a stupid low price. Alpha Foxtrot AF1911 with the QPQ Finish. Extremely impressed. Apparently these are hand fit frame, slide, barrel and hand lapped. Trigger is clean 3.5lb brake. I am going to swap out the curved trigger for a flat one. Hopefully tomorrow can get to the range.

Alpha Foxtrot AF1911 70 series in 9mm. LGS had 2 come in. I have a Romulus 4.25 Comp and it’s been awesome. Couldn’t pass it up at a price so low makes RIA look expensive. Punches far above its MSRP. Fitment is better than most everything under $1700 that I’ve handled. Flush cut & crowned bull barrel. Checkered front strap & rear msh (feels like 25 or 30 LPI) G10 grips, ambi safety. Trigger is around 3.5 lbs out of the box. Very slick QPQ finish. Range Day tomorrow.
