I'm a YouTuber with 16K subs and 100k monthly views. Sure, I'm not a big YouTuber or anything, but I have a following. I recently tried to get into affiliate marketing. I applied to 2 brands I liked. Both said they'd email me back if I was approved, and in both cases I've not heard back in weeks.
Am I to small for affiliate marketing? Or do they just not want to work with YouTubers?
A 7-minute video takes me about 28 hours to make, giving or taking an hour depending on how many new assets I need to draw. So a 20-minute video would take me 78 hours if my math is right. My best videos are all around the 10-minute mark, but they only have around 100K views. Those videos took me 2 weeks to make. So what I'm wondering is if it makes sense to make one or two longer videos a month if they get way more views. I was thinking I could also make shorts in the meantime, as I really like making shorts. My worry is if I spend a month making a video and it flops, that's really going to hurt
I see tons of new channels blow up all the time, but they are almost always hyper niche educational channels. In my opinion I think the only way to grow as a comedy channel without needing amazing talent and luck would bee through shorts. If you know of any YouTube sketch channel that started in the last two years that wasn't attached to anyone famous I'd love to see that. I just think comedy on long form content is basically dead if you aren't established.
I've been posting my business email in my description for years, but I rarely ever checked it because I'd get a new email once every few months, but since making shorts, I've gotten more emails for "colab" requests than ever before. I've noticed a lot of brands are really waiting to work with TikTokers over YouTubers.
Am I alone in this observation?
Or am I doing something wrong? I really have no idea what to post on there

My prices will change based on the size of the project, but in general I like to charge around $20 an hour. I typically like to charge per project, but that should give you an idea on how I'll price a project
For my long-form content, mostly people aged around 26-35 watch. Which is how old I am, and that's who i target. Well, my shorts have been mostly getting viewed by people 13-17. Now my shorts have mostly been memes. I make MBTI content. It seems that only MBTI memes get decent views these days.
I'm just shocked that my shorts are getting viewed by people so young. And I'm not to happy about this because I don't want to be a child's entertainer. No offence, but I'm not Ms. Rachel.
I'm guessing that shorts viewers are probably younger on average, and making memes under 10 seconds long is more appealing to kids.
I've been a content creator for like 10 years now. I think I'm pretty good at what I do, but emailing brands terrifies me. I have social anxiety so that doesn't help. My goal is to email one brand every weekday. Any tips, from anyone who's been here before?
