Quiet(ish) pubs on a Friday?

Long shot, especially in good weather, but does anyone know of any decent pubs in Chester, relatively central, that don't tend to get absolutely rammed/loud on Friday afternoon from about 6pm?

I'm meeting someone in what will be quite an emotional situation (positively, hopefully!) so could do with somewhere where we're not having to shout over people or music but we're aiming for a pub as I think we're definitely going to need a drink

Good Client Appreciation Post

I see a fair few posts on here moaning about terrible clients, and I am very quick to partake in those, but I've just had a very nice conversation with a client that's left me feeling upbeat and happy, so whilst I'm not currently hacked off, here's a post to toast the good ones, who-

- Always get their records in on time and well-ordered

- Take the time to ask how you are and have a chat before treating you like ChatGPT

- Don't actually use ChatGPT to get their advice and then expect you to agree with whatever it says, but come to you first and pay attention to the information you give them

- Respond to every question in an email, not just the first one

- Don't throw a tantrum when they've not kept receipts and you tell them they can't claim for things without evidence

- Get you something for Christmas (obviously not required at all, but very sweet and always much appreciated)

- Take no for an answer (I had a client last week throw a wobbler because I said her new puppy couldn't be expensed lmao)

- Don't try and bullshit obvious personal costs as business costs

- Pay their fees on time!!!

- Can tell the difference between you and HMRC, and don't shoot the messenger

Any other marks of a good'un? (I realise I've set a very low bar but a week without any of the above is genuinely a top week)

Lands End Hotel, Malta

Balcony breakfast looking out over the bay towards Valetta, everything cooked to perfection in my book. Can give a pass to the streaky bacon under the circumstances.

Why is Burnham seen as a credible candidate?

This is about practicality and not about personal opinion about him, but obviously at the moment, particularly post Gorton & Denton, there's a huge media circus about him being one of the potential "big 3" leadership candidates.

Wes is now very likely to announce his candidacy today, Raynor has suddenly announced she's clear of her HMRC baggage, so surely they're going to want to trigger a leadership election post haste and keep Burnham at arm's length?

In the time it would take for a Labour MP to voluntarily resign, then for Andy to try and get past the NEC again, then even if he does, for the actual by-election to take place; surely a contest could already be underway?

I'd have assumed today's Wes-ignation would have put that to bed.
