My corneas are still stinging from the orange contacts.

Betta in temporary tank fish in cycle advice needed for new tank

We have a Betta in a temporary tank. Unfortunately he was brought home too soon so the tank was only set up for a few days before he had to go in.

We've been testing the water and monitoring him closely. Everything seems alright for now but the nitrogen cycle obviously hasn't really completed.

We had cloudy beneficial bacteria water and that's since cleared as of today.

Meanwhile we've been setting up his permanent home and I'm not sure what the best possible way to get the Betta into the new tank would be.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

My partner won our toddler a fish at the fair without researching how to care for them

How long before we need to get a 75 litre or larger tank? (It's 20L and the fish seems young)

Is it safe to buy a second goldfish from a different source so they can be social?

This was the largest tank the local pet shop had (20L other than insanely expensive setups) available as they were sold out due to the fair. It came in a tiny plastic container.

We knew nothing about caring for one. Like the majority of people we thought they went in bowls and lived for a year. Shocked to learn the truth on the drive home.

I've read the stickied care guide.

Edit: After consideration following all of your responses I have returned my toddlers fairground goldfish and have ordered a heater and looking at getting him a Betta instead.

There's no way I could fit a pond sized tank in my home for ONE FISH or a pond sized pond In my garden so "marshmallow" had to go.

Thanks for the advice and the reality check from this sub.
