If not, what is the most viable pair of Wired IEMs under $250 that meets my requirements, preferences, and priorities?

Hello, as you may know, earlier I posted about my middle-ear fluid, and wanting to purchase flathead earbuds to compensate for the lack of use of my IEMs.

As a result, I was recommended two different flathead earbuds, but have a hard time making a curated decision.

As stated earlier, I would like recommendations based on the following preferences (I want closest, there will never be an exact):

Hello Ninjago fandom/community, I want to know your opinion on whether or not it is wrong to feel ashamed or childish to be watching Ninjago at 14, soon to be 15 in October of this year.

I started watching (and fell in love with) Ninjago since 1st grade, at the age of 6-7. Despite me pirating at a young age, I watched all of the seasons I had legal access to via Netflix.

Recently, I decided to binge rewatch all seasons of Ninjago, along with Dragon's Rising. I had only missed one or two seasons that I didn't have access to, but found where to watch them.

During my binge of Ninjago, I felt childish. Sort of inmature. I love the show, but it gave me a feeling of being juvenile.

I mean, I am only 14, and I've seen that most people in this subreddit is older than me, mostly because the people who had it for there childhood, grew up. Me included. I mean, Ninjago came out the same year I was born, and I had no choice but to start later. Irrelevant information, though.

I feel like I'm wrong for feeling this, no? What are your thoughts?

Long Format

Hello Thinkpad Community, I need advice for my specific model and situation.

Around a year ago, I purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad L390 on eBay for around $75 total. Listed without a battery, it came configured with an Intel Core i5-8265U, UHD 620 (IGPU), 4GB LP DDR4 RAM, 128GB SK hynix SC311 NVME, no Wifi/Bluetooth Card (not listed) and a 1920*1080p panel, which turned out to be touchscreen (not listed).

It already had cracks and scratches, which is to be expected for the price I paid. What I wasn't expecting was the physically broken plastic for the screw mounts to the screen, which means the display is being held in by the bezel, without any other support. It's not as bad as it sounds.

Soon after arrival, I began to install the RAM I had, adding about 24 GB (16, 8 double channel). In addition to this, I installed my 1TB WD_BLACK SN770 from my previous laptop, with a battery and (albeit) obsolete wifi/bluetooth card not long after.

Since purchase, I have had ran into conflicts, which I posted about a while back about.

Three Problems:

Right RAM slot is dead, reducing RAM to 16 in single channel), though I have yet to attempt the cleaning method.

Fingerprint reader socket for ribbon cable is completely displaced from the motherboard, in need of microsoldering in order to function.

Broken micro SD card slot spring.

Now, what I mainly planned to replace was the palmrest, bezel, keyboard, and (maybe) top cover as those are in need of replacement the most, with some not being just for cosmetic benefit, but for structural health. I would also prefer to forgo the obsolete wifi/bluetooth card that I currently installed, in replacement of the most capable, yet supported wifi/bluetooth card.

With these problems, and the price for repair, I was wondering whether or not it would be worth it to make any repairs and upgrade the wifi/bluetooth card this laptop to any extent.

Now, while I prefer for the fingerprint reader and micro SD card slot to function properly, it's not a factor in why this laptop would be worth ditching compared to a similar offering. The main factor for most, especially people like me, is the RAM slot. I have yet to do the cleaning method, in hopes of it functioning. Double channel is where it's at, and I would prefer to be able to do so.

For the palmrest+keyboard (together, best deal), bezel, and top cover it will be around $73 (already confirmed best offers via messaging sellers, along with counting shipping and having an educated estimate for taxes). Around $84 with wifi/bluetooth card upgrade. Max budget is around $100

For a max price around $100, is it worth it to repair my current Lenovo Thinkpad L390?

I have considered purchasing a whole different laptop for the price of a repiar, but I realize the following:

There won't be much, if any performance gain (I would prefer a gain)

They would either be in worse or similar condition to my current L390

Purchase of a replacement laptop will result in my current L390 becoming e-waste

I will lack any experience that I plan to gain with this repair

Then, I also realize that the replacement laptop will most likely have fully functional RAM slots along with features that no longer function with my current L390.

Unless someone recommends a laptop that is worthwhile compared to repair, then the repair will be the most logical decision in this scenario. Ultimately, I would like to know any thoughts.

To start, I'm a fourteen (fifteen in October) year-old male audiophile, so sometime last week, I felt that my perception of my earbuds (more properly, IEMs) shifted, sounding warmer. Upon this discovery, I turned to one of the most important factors for perception of sound, eartips.

In a panic to get my perception back, I kept constantly switching between each eartip size included. I did this for two days, until I felt a change of pressure in my ears.

Since then, my symptoms have been the following:

• Ear fullnes (one ear at a time)
• Hearing has not been affected
• Stuffed nostril on the same side as the (current) affected ear
• Pushing anti-tragus in on the affected ear, "pushes" the pressure to the opposite ear, but can return to the ear that was originally affected
• Popping depends, doesn't happen MOST of the time
• Swallowing may or may not help
• Symptoms use to worsen at night, but have evened out, staying mostly consistent with day time.

Since the second day, I've been using flonase, which probably won't take affect until next week.

From what I've seen, my symptoms and cause of ETD is different. My symptoms aren't s bad as I see people describe, it's just uncomfortable. Nothing a crazy amount of pressure, but it does vary.

Other posts scare me, because most I've seen has had it long-term and it never went away.

I'm fourteen, and all because of an aspect of a niche hobby (at least for my age) I decided to persue, I may have ruined my ears, prayfully temporarily. I pray, by the end of next week, they return to the state they were.

The FiiO JH13 is an entry-level, budget Hybrid IEM released by FiiO under their Jade Audio lineup. Purchased for $39.99 (plus tax) on Amazon, I was curious to see what these IEMs had to offer for the price, seeing as not much information regarding others experiences have seen the light of day.

What was surprising for the price was the driver configuration. They boast an impressive triple-driver setup, which consists of 1 dynamic driver and 2 balanced armatures. Dynamic implements the bass, while the balanced armatures handle the mids and treble.

Regarding design, the JH13 is quite unique. It's basic with personality. It boasts a resin build and zebrawood faceplates, which gives it character. It's interesting and different from the competition.

With this introduction, I wanted to see how this would perform. I wanted to find out how well FiiO tuned these or what the tuning was like.

Comfort and Fit

Starting with comfort, I found it to be perfectly adequate for hourly use, as I've never had a bad fitting experience with IEMs after finding the right fitting, compatible eartips. I ended up going with the smallest supplied eartips, seeing as I have small ears. As someone who listens to music for more than 5 hours at a time, I've never had any discomfort or fitting issues. The shape of the IEMs gives just enough space to go in and stay in consistently. They're neither too big nor too small.

Sensitivity and Volume Output

The JH13 has a sensitivity rating of 110 dB/mW at 1 kHz with an impedance of 24 Ω at 1 kHz. In my experience, this is very apparent by how loud it gets with just half volume. It supplies more than adequate volume in most listening scenarios. With that being said, I wouldn't recommend anything near full volume on most occasions. Overall a very efficient IEM.

Overall Tuning

The overall tuning of the FiiO JH13 is what I would describe as balanced, maybe even W-shaped. Not in a neutral profile, but It avoids the recessed mids that prolongs the standard V-shape, while also keeping the bass on a presentable level. Not flat, but not for bassheads either. Mids are extremely clear, clean, and don't muddy. The treble is detailed, and doesn't get harsh depending on the volume. It's also very dynamic and provides an incredible amount of detail and soundstage & imaging for the price.

Bass

The bass on the JH13 is well defined, controlled, textured, and is presented at an adequate level. It doesn't become boomy or bleed into the mids. This was surprising, seeing as multiple reviews highlighted a problem with the bass sounding "boomy" or bleeding into the mids. The transient response is very fast, allowing instruments such as kick drums to come and go with a reasonable amount of thump. This is of course coming from the previously mentioned dynamic driver, which is overall well implemented.

Mids

The mids are what make these IEMs stand out to me. They're forward, allowing vocals and instruments in this region to sound on-par with other frequencies. It allows for instruments like guitars, along with vocals to sound detailed. This was really apparent with artists such as Billie Eilish and Jessie Reyez, especially for acoustic songs or versions. They can be percieved as thin at times. The overall presentation is clean and clear, which is implemented by the balanced armature drivers.

Treble

The treble is what I expected for the most part. Airy, sparkly, and detailed without being overdone or having any sharp peaks. They can get harsh depending on the volume or decibel levels you're pushing out of them, but that seems to be the case with most IEMs with a similar tuning and power output rating. Overall, I would say that the balanced armature drivers were implemented well for this frequency range as well.

Technicalities

Instruments and layering are apparent and precise for the price, allowing for dissection of elements in music. Nothing bleeds and is separated nicely, as everything is to itself.

The soundstage is quite impressive, providing a non-fatiguing, out-of-the-head experience that is quite wide for the price. The imaging is very good, allowing for precise location of elements in most scenarios without hassle.

Regarding gaming performance, these work extremely well. It boasts a big, impactful sound with clarity that rivals most. Another thing that helps is the wide soundstage and great imaging performance, which allows for pin-pointing positioning. This also is apparent in movies and shows with action-packed scenes.

Build & Design

Regarding build, the feel is what should be expected for the price. A budget IEM. The shells, made out of resin (plastic) don't weigh too much, weighing 6.6g per side without the cable (13.2g) and about 20-25g with the cable. They feel like middle-class plastic. Doesn't feel terrible, just not the most "premium" built IEM out there for the price. They are indeed durable for the build, as I've been driving these hard (like all of my IEMs) for the past 4 months. Indoors and outdoors. They mostly live in my left pocket in a basic semi-hard IEMs case with my other EDC such as my all-metal metal writing instruments.

Along with the build, they also consist of zebrawood faceplates that boast a really unique design that adds character. It stands out as an interesting IEM compared to others with more basic, simple designs. In addition to this, it implements a golden colored brass nozzle, ensuring durability and longevity.

With that said, I do believe that they decided to put more budget into the drivers and tuning rather than the build of the IEMs themselves.

Cable

The included stock cable is what you would expect. Regarding feel and quality, it's cheap, thin, doesn't feel great, and tangles quite a lot even when properly wrapped and stored. One thing's for sure, I don't get any microphonics with this cable. Completely silent as far as I'm aware. As far as asthetics, it matches the zebrawood faceplates of the IEMs themselves, adding to the character or personality. It looks rather nice in my opinion.

Verdict

Overall, the FiiO JH13 is a budget IEM with an impressive amount of value. It boasts a balanced sound signature, providing technicalities that provides more than adequate performance for any task. It's both basic and unique in the design and build, and provides more than sufficient amounts of power output. I recommend this to anyone who prefers a sound performance first experience, while also keeping a balance on build, design, and overall value.

It Happened — After 5 months of heavy use, the pin connector of my left IEM has failed.

After a few days of neglect, I returned to my IEMs to find that the pin connector on the left side, which I've already presumed the housing as loose for, no longer functions properly/as intended.

Now, earlier today, I said (jokingly) "The pin connector is probably gonna die" Which, I'm sad to say, I manifested into existence.

While I generally use the right side, I still prefer both sides to function properly/as intended, as any normal person would. That being said, I did gently bend it back into place, where it will be less prone to a shortage, so therefore not being completely unfunctional. I am using it as of typing this, while also trying to be as gentle as I can.

This has happened to be my second pair of entry-level IEMs, the FiiO JH13. I've done a review on these, and I might need to revise it regarding the build and longevity of this specific FiiO model.

That being said, the most realistic thing to do in this situation, at least from posts I've read in the past, is to either get a replacement or see it as a reason to upgrade. As these are $40 IEMs, and I don't generally have the money for an upgrade, the most reasonable/ideal decision to make would be to purchase a replacement or an alternative around the same price range.

Now, as I'm weird and prefer to keep my original IEMs and don't want to risk making a bad purchasing decision, could this be fixed? Either at home (I'm willing to tinker, but nothing too hard), or a specialty shop of some sort?

In relation to this, I've generally seen adults have an interest in this hobby, which is why I want to say that I feel I perceive IEMs very differently than others. I've always had a passion for audio. So, last year, I spent a majority of my time doing research. I don't like mixing multiple brands for hobbies, especially ones like this. So, I went on a search for 1-3 brands that sold everything I wanted.

Instead of just searching "what's the best...," I cherry picked them based on my niche requirements/preferences. My preferred sound signature/tuning is pretty much what other audiophiles want (this is not what I'm calling niche): transparent, accurate, and as the music was intended to sound. Basically, like it was being performed in front of you. What I am calling niche, though, is my requirements for each product. Some are really similar, some are different, but I essentially want the same sound in a different form factor. It's not ever going to be identical, and I understand that.

Ultimately FiiO, Edifier, and Fluance seemed to have everything that met my preferences and budget of under $250 per product (with the exception of the upcoming turntable).

Note: This whole post is just a revision of one of my previous ones. I changed a few things. Also, feel free to ask about my requirements for each product. Some of these products aren't the most popular or commonly considered options, so I doubt many people in this subreddit actually own them. But, I please provide any insight you have about any of these products.

Hello, I am an avid product reviewer. I usually only post my reviews on Amazon, but I personally think I have wasted my full potential by posting only on the site. My reviews are in a logical, comprehensive format that can help with speed reading. There's nothing worse than multiple paragraphs worth of a review in one big block of text. That's not the main reason for my specific format though.

My initial goal has shifted from, reviewing products with hopes of getting invited, to wanting to review for niche brands such as Edifier and FiiO.

But, I've come here to say this. I don't feel my format is appropriate enough for me to post my reviews on Reddit. Of course, there's not a written rule (as far as I'm aware) that states how the review should be formatted for it to be "Reddit approved", but I feel my seperation for each aspects of the product is to much for Reddit. I feel for Reddit, it would be best to make more general sections, instead of breaking a part an aspect of a product such as the sound signature of an IEM.

So, would it be appropriate for me to change the formatting of my reviews specifically for Reddit?
