Did I just spend 2 hours making 15 tiny steamers (badly?)

Why yes. Yes I did. That is all. There must be a better way.
Good night.😴

Rolife in Singapore!

My daughter is traveling in Singapore and sent me this photo of two miniatures decorating a shop window, at least one of which is a great mod of Emily’s Flower Shop!

Emily’s Flower Shop shelf?

This could be a fun alternative to the metal shelf in Emily’s Flower Shop by Rolife although I’d change the color scheme. Love this guy’s videos!

Your best selling kit

Just curious what is the Rolife bestselling kit of all time and also best selling for the US versus other countries? (Posting my current favorite of the ones I’ve done so far: Catherine’s Living Room)

Scratch build in a tiny pillbox

My friend is a collage artist who sat in a little room at a desk that looked like this in Maine all last summer working on her collages (which ended up being shown in a museum!) The one on the inside of the cover is a tiny copy of one of them. I made this for her birthday. Hope she likes it!

(Re-post because I realized the curtains were so frayed only after I posted the phot

Which kit should I do next? (Poll)

I have 8 kits and can’t decide which to do next. Pluck suggested I leave it up to the random choice of a poll of 3 😊.
Please pick the one you think I should do and I will post a photo when I’m done!

How to a choose the next kit???

I have a backlog of about 8 kits but find I always want to do the newest one I purchased, instead of one from the backlog. To keep myself from buying more and more without doing them I’ve started adding the ones I want to do to my Amzn Saved For Later cart but I’m
Up to 56!

Love to hear how others choose their next one or is it just the impulse buy, after seeing a great one here which is my usual modus operandi!

The Banquet of Tang Dynasty

My last two kits were so tiny and fiddly I felt the need to take a break with the comfort of a ToneCheer, where there’s no paper to cut, flowers to make (unless I want to add some), or precarious placement of breakable accessories. I got so lucky and found this one for $10 on FB Mktplce. Weirdly though when I google lens searched this it brought me to the TaoBao sales website and was labeled Robotime. How could that be? It clearly says ToneCheer on the box (which I just learned somehow means Shared Fun.) Anyway, I have a stash but am finding I always want to build the newest one I get. Onward!

Rowan’s Tree House

This one is so dang cute I couldn’t resist it. But it’s harder than it looks. Those tree trunk pieces were hard to get right. There’s a lot of turning it upside down and then back. I would suggest only gluing if you are 100% sure of your placement because I had to take it completely apart and re-build it and still realized a couple of errors only after it was too late.
My favorite part is the little girl fairy reading her book! See her up in the corner? So sweet.

Catherine’s Living Room RoLife

I think we’ve had a bunch of reviews of this already so I won’t go into detail. The usual RoLife high quality and lots of 3-D elements, although the books and decorative plates are 2-D and I would have preferred actual books and some cute little plates instead. The sofa is quite sturdy and heavy. The lamp is plastic but a nice design! Just a few mods. In my family we always had a big Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary on in the living room (as well as a chess set) so I added that as well as some classic books I love, personal photos, and a plant made of some twigs and flocking instead of the paper one. I painted the chandelier with pink acrylic paint to tone down the light a bit. The chess set is arranged to be an actual game I found online. It took me a ridiculously long time to set all the pieces up correctly! Overall a pretty easy build. This was fun and nostalgic to do!

How long do bulbs last?

I had 3 AA in my ToneCheer Secret Garden booknook which has a motion sensor. It went on faithfully whenever I passed by, which was often as it’s in my living room, for over 6 months. Then it went out and even with new batteries it’s not going on…. Is there a lifespan to the bulbs or…?

Scratch build of Odds and Ends

I always end up with lots of extras parts as I’m sure we all do after a kit is done. This weekend I decided to try and see what I could make with what I had. I did end up buying some quilt batting for the chairs but otherwise this is cardboard for the walls, foam board for the chairs, extra books and origami paper and a leftover light set that was partly broken and so replaced which let me with an extra flickering firelight. I was embarrassed to post this at first because it’s not like the polished and amazing scratch builds I’ve seen but in the end it’s a cozy little reading nook with some personal touches like a mini of a collage I made and a little pup that make me happy, so here it is!

Lily’s Sewing Shop

A little fun weekend kit. Just a few mods some unintentional! I made my own dress for the stand. Scattered books around. Added my daughter Easter egg as I do in almost every kit. Love the lights - can do one or both and also make brighter or dimmer and it’s a USB-C yay. The manual could have been more clear and some pieces too fragile but all in all not bad.
And although the manual didn’t mention it, I couldn’t help trying to thread the sewing machine!

This kit is very similar to RoLife Elsa’s Tailoring but even more - I could have sworn Rolife actually had a picture frame kit like this in their store in California but were sold out at the time, and then I could never find it online. Am I imagining that?

Starlight reading nook question

So I do love this kit but the starlight effect is differwnt than I anticipated so I’m wondering if this is the way it is supposed to be or if there’s a problem. Can anyone who has done this kit tell me if they actually twinkle or if it’s more of a slowly come on and slowly go off?

The Phantom Chamber by Luuwik

I’m not usually into horror-themed kits but this one seemed so well-done, and was discounted in the -zon so I picked it up. I was not disappointed at all! The instructions weren’t the clearest - a little too small and vague at times but they also linked in the manual one of the best build videos I have seen. It was so clear you couldn’t miss a beat if you tried. The manual had a cute horror love story and the build included hidden elements no one else will ever see which was fun. There were some easy little personalizations like the spider web and moss placement. I kept the trap door and trunk open instead of closed since I spent all that time making the scrolls! I also added some flowers on the floor because I lost one of the spiders, but then I liked the additional color anyway. The lighting was not too difficult and directions were very good. Unlike some other kits, it was very easy to hide the wiring.
The only other things I would have liked would have been: a dust cover sheet for the front; a USB or motion sensor instead of touch, although this one works comparatively very well; and on the lighting I was hoping for flickering firelights, a staticy light for the TV, and lighting for the face in the window that you can barely see. Over all though, I really liked the design and the accompanying story; it was really fun to put together; and I think it came out pretty nicely!

Re-wiring with battery replacers question

I wanted to start the re-wiring to USB as per Pluck videos but mistakenly bought AA battery replacers instead of AAA when all but one of my nooks are AAA Can I somehow use the AA battery replacers instead or do I need to buy the AAA ones? I think I have some AA battery boxes I could wire to the kits but could it blow out the bulbs or something?

City Hall Carillon

Anyone else miss the concerts Charles Semowich used to perform at lunch time ? Glad the bells are back but it’s not Charles.
