I’m into MYOG - mostly working with Cordura, webbing, and occasionally leather for reinforcement pieces.
I keep seeing the Juki 1541 recommended as the standard walking foot machine, but most of the posts and reviews are pretty old by now. Is it still worth buying in 2026, or are there better alternatives in the same price range?
Looking for my first industrial machine (new only), mainly for multi-layer seams, backpacks, and heavier projects.
Would especially appreciate real-world feedback from people actually using these machines for MYOG work.

У цьому випадку Meest добре себе показує саме за рахунок роботи з вагою та консолідацією. Можна об’єднувати кілька посилок в одну і не переплачувати за кожну окремо.
Наприклад, NP Shopping більш простий і зручний варіант: зайшов, замовив і не думаєш. Але на великих або регулярних відправленнях він часто виходить дорожче. А в Meest якраз є сенс, коли ти працюєш не як разовий покупець, а як людина, яка постійно щось возить.
Плюс у них під сегмент Buyer і VIP є окрема тарифна сітка для тих, хто регулярно замовляє або возить великі обсяги. Для байєрів та магазинів це може бути реально вигідно в довгостроковій перспективі.

I’m considering getting a cargo bike and trying to figure out if it actually makes sense for everyday use in El Monte. I’ve gone through specs and watched a bunch of reviews, but real-world experience seems way more useful.
I’d mainly use it around El Monte - groceries, occasional heavier loads, and possibly replacing short car trips. Roads here aren’t the best and weather can be a factor too, so that’s something I’m keeping in mind.
How practical are cargo bikes as a main transport option in a city like El Monte? What did you end up preferring front load or longtail, and why? Any regrets after buying one? How’s maintenance compared to a regular bike? And is electric assist basically necessary or still manageable without it?
