Do we have to keep things about stepPARENTS only?

I just wanted to know if we can talk about step relatives (step grandparents, etc). My stepdad's dad in particular is an interesting guy, and I have some stories about him I'd like to share if that's okay. Thanks :D

An open letter to my (dearly beloved) Stepdad...

Dearest Kitty (his nickname),

STOP BLAMING YOUR NASTY GAS ON LO (YOUR GRANDDAUGHTER). I've known you my whole life. I know what your farts smell like. My mom and aunties have known you since you were NINE. They know what your farts smell like. You're not sneaky. Especially when LO isn't even in the SAME ROOM when you let one rip. EVEN COOPIE AND PAZ ARE GETTING FED UP WITH THIS.

If you don't cut it out, you're sleeping outside. Love you. ♥️

"Ah! We are Potato People Friends!"

EDIT; I realise I should clarify that he meant since both Belarus and Ireland have stereotypes/jokes about potatoes (basically making a joke of the jokes). I apologize if I came off as disrespectful, I just remembered it and figured I'd share it.

- my (Belarusan) Uncle Coopie (no relation), upon learning about the stereotypes/jokes about Irish people and adoration of potatoes (my family is Irish) :D

'Dad' Sneezes?

Okay, I have to know if this is just a them thing, or if this is some kind of phenomena -

I've known my stepdad and two uncles my whole life, long before SD became my SD, and before my uncles had kids (adopted and biological). So I'm familiar enough with their bodily functions and noises to notice a difference.

When you and your partner (male) had kids, did your partner start sneezing loud as fuck out of nowhere? I swear, they used to sneeze like normal dudes, TBH pretty politely for men their age (they're in their early 30s for reference). But as soon as they became dads, it's like they HAVE to let everyone know whenever any kind of pollen or dust or what-have-you sneaks into their noses. Like something fucking exploding.

My stepdad LOVES to joke that he's earned the right to Dad Sneeze since he became a grandpa (my daughter is his first grandkid). Thing is, when my dad was alive, he sneezed fine. Normally, politely, before and after he had kids.

Did anybody else's partner go through this? Is it a cultural thing (like Dad Jokes), an age thing, or a them thing?

"Well, things are about to get interesting."

EDIT; I'm just repeating what my stepdad said. His thoughts, not mine. He's just one Belarusan guy thinking out loud.

  • my Belarusan stepdad on the happenings between Putin and Lukashenko, Ukraine's strike on Moscow and Zelensky giving Lukashenko 1 week to get their drone equipment the fuck outta Ukraine, he and my uncles are betting that another round of shit is about to hit the fan. They think that 'Putin's in panic mode', and that Lukashenko's 'apology' to Ukraine is just a last-ditch effort to try and save himself.

He also said,

'Either way, they're fucked. If they don't listen to Zelensky, then Ukraine will follow through and rain Hellfire onto them. If they do listen to Zelensky, then Putin's going to turn on Lukashenko. By fall, it will be the Ukraine/Russia/BELARUS war.'

On the bright side, this is a reminder of 'thank fuck we got out of there when we did', which they say is extra sweet for fathers' day because they wouldn't have us kids if they stayed put <3

Eyyy Fuck father's day

My family situation is kind of crazy (not the bad kind of crazy, we just have WILD lore). I don't consider the man that sired me as my real dad. I know this isn't the jnfamily sub, but if you don't mind, I'd like to call him HM for Husk Man. The woman that gave birth to me (so not my mammy) is Red Rabbit. My daddy is (was?) HM's identical twin brother (exhibit a of our craziness), and my mammy is his wife. They raised me, and I love them both very, very much.

My dad died in 2022, but since I was separated from him and my mam by Red Rabbit and Mr Husk. The plan I had originally when RR+MH regained custody of me and cut me off from the rest of the family was to just wait it out until I turned 18, and I'd go home. But finding out Dad had died, and a mess of stupid lies from RR I stupidly fell for, I crashed out. Let's just say I'm wicked lucky that I came out of that shit alive.

I had my daughter in 2025. So this is the first father's day back at home (my daughter and I were able to go home to live with my mam). AKA, the first father's day where I really have to deal with my feelings, because before I just shut it out. I'm lucky that I have a small army of loving father figures (my stepdad, my uncles, my godfather). I'll never deny that. But they're not my dad.

As dumb and selfish as this is, I'm kinda jealous of my daughter. Her sperm donor has no rights. She'll never know him. So she won't know what it feels like to lose her dad after having him in her life when he was as big of a ray of sunshine and loving human as mine was.

Although, to me, it's much more upsetting that my daughter will never know my dad. He would have absolutely adored her. I/we have my stepdad, and he adores her just as much as my dad would be, but he's still not my dad.

Just ugh. Been in my feelings all day and just needed a dumping ground. Not to be a big bitch baby, but fuck father's day. Sending love to all my BroMos carrying the load on their shoulders. Thanks.

3 Slavs vs 1 Childrens' Show

Hi, first post, my daughter is 6mos old.

This just happened, and I'm still pissing myself laughing, and I figured you all could use a pick me up.

BG, my stepdad and 2 uncles are from East Europe (Belarus), so their grip on english is...Not Fantastic. Most of the time they can get what they're trying to say across, but then there's days like today.

My stepdad and the two uncles were in charge of watching my daughter (6 mos) and my littlest sister (recently 2) while my mam and I were at work/doing errands. The story is that my SD suddenly remembered this really niche(?) show from when me and two of my three sisters were really little, only he couldn't remember the name of it and could only remember a few details. The uncles kind of remembered it (mostly because one of the characters freaked one of them out), but that was about it.

So of course they tried to find it, but since they could only remember little bits, it was hard. They couldn't remember if it was american/East Europe/Irish, couldn't remember the characters' names, especially not what species the characters were (other than non-human). They punched in in the bare minimum details, looking up every show from our childhood they could remember, nothing. They even tried humming what little bits of music they could remember into Shazam and that google tune-finder thing.

They called Mam and I at work because they were on the verge of going apeshit because they were so frustrated and starting to think they were dealing with some Mandela effect shit or one of them just dreamed it or if they were misremembering details from other shows.

They listed the following memories;

  • Pigs on a parade (one of them drove a train?)
  • Uncles couldn't agree if there was a train involved, or if it was some kind of Phineas and Ferb-y rollercoaster
  • Graphics were crappy 'like early Pixar' 'ya, like the scary snowman thing' 'Sonic the hedgehog'
  • A cow, two bears and a donkey (EDIT; it turned out to be a lamb, a rabbit, a bear and a horse)
  • Some kind of 'army music, pack up, bag up'
  • Elephants 'in a cult underground'

They were all shouting, uncles were getting pissed off at my stepdad because they thought he was fucking with them at that point, stepdad was mad at them because they couldn't agree on certain things and overall pissed they couldn't find it. And THEN they got mad at Mam and I because we had no idea what they were on about :D

I know it might not sound that funny, but if you could have heard them, you'd understand (few things crack me/my family up quite like Slavs arguing, especially stepdad and the uncles). Especially when you could hear my little sister and daughter laughing hysterically at them in the background. Just 10/10, hardest I've laughed this year.

THANK FUCK, EVENTUALLY, we found it; it's called Threads. It's actually hella older than me (I'm a 2010 baby), and we're also atheist, but Mam remembered that a friend of theirs with kids born in the y2k's recommended it to her for us kids. According to the uncles and stepdad, it's 'even more scary-cursed than we remembered', so they're not letting the girls watch it.

Hope this cheers you up a little bit, sisters, haha <3
