Bicycle trouble makers

I saw a large group of teenagers on bicycles taking over a road in my neighborhood.

It made me grin from ear to ear.I'm glad the kids are living life.I was a little jealous.

Another gen 1 blinker question

Notice the other day that my left turn signal blinked. but when I toggled right, the orange light on the dash just came on solid.

Noticed the wires had come loose for the right front.

With the front right blinker actually plugged in, I get the same behavior. both front and rear right side lights are lit but there is no blinking.

Is it time for a new relay? it is odd to me that left side blinks, but right side just comes on solid.

stupid check valve

This is all just to replace the vent tube or check valve on the clean side of the airbox, The one that will suck up Sand into the motor and kill the bike.

It took about 10 minutes to get apart. I'm thinking it will take much longer to put back together. stupid carburetor intake boot

clutch question

today i adjusted my shift lever to accommodate my long kangaroo feet. i was waddling up and down the driveway.Testing the action as far as shifting. i noticed that when in gear and clutch fully pulled in, there was a ton of resistance. i unscrewed the oil cap so I could see the clutch pack and yeah, the outer plate was spinning, but not the clutch pack. but so much resistance compared to neutral.

Is this normal? i'm feeling paranoid that my clutch cable is too tight. there is zero play when you put fingers on the clutch lever. am I subtly burning the clutch whenever i'm in gear with the clutch lever pulled in? there's never really anything noticeable with the motor running.

learning

I've been daydreaming about getting to these cornfields. As far as feeling competent enough with the basic controls. super cautious and close to home. But it sure was pretty out there

trickle charger bad?

i have an older battery tender. new agm battery, im trying to treat it right. out of the box it had 13.5v. i rode for 15 mins, then put the batt on the charger overnight because i knew i didnt ride enough to recharge it. voltage when i pulled it out of the bike was 13.26v. this morning, it is 13.0v.

I'm thinking I should just buy a new battery tender.

am i misunderstanding though? do older battery tenders drain some voltage before bulk charging? the orange "charging" light comes on when i connect the unit to the battery.

i had expected the green "charged/maintaining" light to be on considering id left the batt on it overnight

I track my progress by which gears im comfortable in. I just had my first experience cruising in the bottom of third with a car behind up me. Nothing bad happened 😆

I had to turnaround at one point and there was a four inch drop off between asphalt and dirt and I just eased the clutch out in first. and nothing bad happened.

I am beginning to see the possibilities.
