NYU CAS For IB / Masters
I’m looking to transfer to NYU CAS sophomore fall and I was wondering if you could give me some feedback on my plan/let me know if it’s feasible.
I’m going pursue a joint major in either Econ/Math or Econ/Data Science with a stern minor. I know there’s a cap of like 6 stern classes for non-stern kids, but there’s a way to petition for more, so I would definitely try that as well.
Joining the best possible stern clubs that are available to me and truly taking them seriously. I know that some are practically stern-only, but I would take advantage of the ones more accessible.
I’ll start networking as soon as I get to NYC. I’ll try to get as many coffee chats as possible/try to connect with as many bankers as possible. I will also attend as many networking events as possible. However, I know it is much harder to get responses as a CAS student, so if anyone has any advice on that pls comment/dm
I will thoroughly self learn all the technicals. Most likely I’d use resources like BIWS and WSP red/blue books, and I would try to do as many mock interviews as possible. Also, I will read the WSJ daily.
I’ll try to get IB-relevant internships as soon as sophomore year summer. Again, if anyone has specific advice on this please let me know.
If all fails and I don’t get a good IB offer, I’d probably go for a MSF program (Vanderbilt, Emory, UT Austin, etc)
Thank you for your time and i would highly appreciate any advice.
