Lucky Seat Feels Like a Scam Now

I’ve been using Lucky Seat for DCPA (Denver) shows for about 2 years now. When I started it felt like such a steal! I would spend $60 on orchestra seats for National touring shows. Totally worth it.

Now the last few times I’ve shelled out $$$ for absolutely awful seats. I really hate that I have to pay up front and I only get my seats the day of the show. Tickets I absolutely would have passed on if I knew where they were.

I know some of y’all are probably going to call me a “choosy beggar” but I’m not expecting orchestra seats every time. I just feel like it’s a scam that they don’t disclose where you will be sitting before you have to pay and that the seat quality has absolutely plummeted. I don’t feel like that is an unreasonable ask. It makes me feel kind of bad too that I’m essentially “wasting” tickets that could have gone to someone who really wanted to see the show and would have been happy with any seat.

Anyone else in CO using Lucky Seat notice a drop in quality? Did I just get lucky (ha) the first few times I won and this is the norm?

Corporate vs Small Business?

I currently work for a large healthcare company in the U.S. My hours are shit (and were changed abruptly due to layoffs) but it’s remote & I do get my 40 hours a week and bonuses here and there. I like my co-workers, I’m very good at my job & I do feel appreciated for the work I do.

I don’t have a lot of complaints aside from my hours and the fact that our department has been downsizing each year so not only are there no promotion opportunities, but layoffs are always looming. I have really good healthcare and a great 401k match.

Recently I applied to and was offered a job at a MUCH smaller healthcare company (10 people) that does similar work. I immediately vibed with the company and the owners, they have been around for about 5 years, and it seems like they have seen steady growth each year. If I took this job It would be an $8 hourly increase from my current role, normal business hours (and very flexible hours at that) also remote, and opportunities for growth down the road as the company continues to grow.

Benefits wise, I’m a little stressed. I would get standard PTO, good 401k, but the health insurance isn’t great (marketplace).

I am excited about this opportunity because I really like what they do, but I’ve never worked for such a small company. With the job market being the way it is I can’t help but think I would be sacrificing “stability”. I don’t hate my current job, I just want something better.

I guess I am just wondering if anyone else has moved from corporate to a much smaller company, and if so what was your experience with that?

Feeling Sad (Auditions)

I auditioned for a community theater show recently, and I felt like my audition went really well. I sang a segment from the show that they provided and the directors were responding quite a bit to me during the audition (Ie laughing at funny moments, making audible responses at emotional parts). I said I was open to all roles.

I did think I might at least get a callback for something based on their reactions and I let myself get my hopes up.

Then Wednesday I get the email that I was not asked back for callbacks. I think what hurts more is that it wasn’t even a “you are not being considered” rather a “we don’t need to see more from you” despite the fact that they shared the callback materials and I know all of the possible roles were on there. I honestly would have just preferred a straight up rejection so I don’t have to be double-sad when I get another “thanks but no thanks” email out of the blue in two weeks.

Anyway, I’m just having a little pity-party. I hate that I let myself get my hopes up, because it hurts a lot more.

Lost Access?

I haven’t used LINE in a while and apparently we can no longer use a phone number to access LINE in the U.S?

My account wasn’t tied to an email or Apple… is there any way I can recover it?

PSA: Drug Screening

Edit: thanks for all the feedback. I’m sorry to others who have dealt with a similar issue.

I felt the need to clarify the key issue here because many people seem too focused on the wait time; The issue was that the rules at Quest state you can’t leave after you have entered the bathroom, which I didn’t do. I was told by Quest that I could come back with a new code & I communicated to the HR rep that I needed to leave and would need a new code. BOTH told me I could leave without penalty. It wasn’t until after I had already left and emailed the HR person again that I needed a new code that she called me and said she couldn’t give me one and my offer was rescinded. I am simply sharing this so that others will be mindful of their drug screenings in the future. DO NOT leave once you’ve given them your employer code.

******

This is a PSA for anyone who may be asked to complete a drug screening- hopefully my situation will keep others from being screwed over in the future.

I was hired for a healthcare role pending a drug screening. Had to have it completed at a 3rd party center, and they gave me a code to give to the drug screening people so I go to Quest Diagnostics.

Typically the rule is that once you go into the bathroom you cannot leave until you have completed your screening, otherwise it’s an automatic fail. This is what the people at Quest told me as well and what is posted on their signage. I’ve done several screenings for work and this has always been the rule in my state.

So I’m thinking an hour and a half will be enough time to get this done but they are behind on screenings and I have to go to work. I have given them the code my employer provided but have been waiting in the waiting area for about an hour. To avoid missing work I CONFIRM with the Quest team that I can leave and come back in the afternoon after work, and they say yes since I haven’t gone into the back to start my test I will be fine to come back.

I email the recruiter to explain the situation and let them know that I will be returning the same day in the afternoon and the Quest team said it would be fine and they I’ll just need a new code when I come back. Recruiter emails me and tells me I am fine so I leave. I follow up and ask her to send me the new code and that’s when shit hits the fan.

The recruiter then calls me 10min after I’ve left (I didn’t have her phone number mind you) to tell me that because I already gave them the code I was not allowed to leave the facility after that point, so my screening is now an automatic fail and they will have to rescind my offer.

She says that “legally” she can’t give me a new code, and even implies that I left because I may have marijuana in my system (legal in my state but I am 100% a sober person so this was frankly kind of offensive) but also I’m like… If I’m telling you I plan to go back the same day why would you think I’m worried about that?

Anyway, I’m completely floored because this is the first time I’ve ever run into this issue and this lady basically tells me that they don’t have a disclosure about this expectation but her hands are still tied. I tried reaching out to the hiring manager as well and was ignored. Bummer.

So big PSA to anyone out there: if you have to provide an employer code to get your drug screening MAKE SURE that you have plenty of time to get it done (I’m talking 2+ hours). DO NOT LEAVE even if they tell you it’s okay.
