Hi

I’m in a bit of a difficult situation and could really use some advice.

I’ve been accepted into a bachelor’s program at the University of Alberta as an international transfer student. My parents are willing to cover my tuition, but they’re unable to support my living expenses

My plan was to work part-time or freelance to cover those costs while studying. However, my parents aren’t comfortable with me making such a big decision based only on the assumption that I’ll be able to earn enough on my own.

So I’m trying to figure out if there’s any way to secure more reliable or ‘guaranteed’ financial support for living expenses, or any other form of aid specifically available to international transfer students.

I want to be in a position where I can make this decision with some level of certainty, rather than just hoping things will work out.

If anyone has been in a similar situation or has advice on options I might not be aware of, I’d really appreciate your help.

Thank you.
