Abandoned store, bar and home in Texas

My daughter has long been fascinated with abandoned buildings and even looks up the history of them. I had planned to do some "urban exploring" on this road trip to sate her curiosity.(and hers has rubbed off on me, now I am curious too!) We saw it as we zipped by and turned around. Then found the doors wide open tho heavily over grown. It was heavily deteriorated and the roof falling down. We saw an abandoned house next door, probably the owners home. We researched that it had closed down in 2013. Seems like alot of decay in just 13 years. It was pretty creepy and cool! I included pics a few more abandoned places we saw and stopped to take pics but none were open to explore like this one.

Surreal - Liquor store still full of liquor!

My daughter and I took a road trip to Hot Springs Arkansas USA and peeked inside this abandoned liquor store- to find it in dissaray and still full of very much booze and wine! We were amazed no one had cleared this out yet but it had obviously been sitting for some time by the appearance of dust and debris. Maybe the door was only recently pryed open.... but we were very surprised by what we saw!

Help me find some abandoned places to explore in US on my road trip from Houston to Hot Springs.

My daughter loves abandoned buildings. We are taking a road trip from Houston to Hot Springs AR in a couple weeks. If you know of any interesting and smaller places to explore, along 59 north, even those wihtout access but interesting to look at from the outside, as she is a bit afraid to go inside big dark buildings, please llist them here. We will be going thru towns like Lufkin, Carthage, Shreveport, Texarkana. We are already aware of the more well known abandoned places in Hot Springs. Its one of the reasons for picking that location for this trip! Thanks for your help!

So many posts here refer to the movie Idiocracy when discussing the future. Why do you feel people are getting dumber?

People have always looked up information to learn what they don't know. I argue that todays kids are smarter than elders because of all the info at their disposal so immediately and their adeptness at accessing it succinctly. Why does it matter that they look it up online rather than read it in a book?
