Daniel Molloy's Tragic Loss of Rizz

Controversial perhaps as I haven't been able to find a post with this opinion.

My husband and I were very excited about this season as we adore the IWTV show. Hubby was nervous he wouldn't like it while I was confident it would be different but still good. Like lots of fans Daniel Molloy was one of our favorite characters if not our number one favorite. His line delivery and clever remarks and questions combatting the unreliable narrators he was interviewing were perfect.

But in this season of The Vampire Lestat? Oof. Every line was hard to listen to. Suddenly a man with an edge and nothing to lose is the Steve Buscemi "How do you do, fellow kids?" meme. Trying so hard to sound cool and nothing lands. Every line of dialogue is too long, every reference to specific or bizarre. The writing is part of the problem but the actor is just struggling. It's the worst in episode one but the problem doesn't go away at any point in the season. He went from determined to desperate but this change in this character felt unearned.

His rambling angry speech referring to Armand as "Dad" was so awkward and felt out of character to me. Like I get it, Armand turned him and in the vampire world he is like a parent to him, but in the show Daniel successfully bullied the truth out of him, high-key blew up his undead life, Armand turned him, then Armand dipped. Where is this obsession with "You were supposed to be my dad and make me a cool vampire" coming from? It just doesn't seem like the way TV show Daniel would process the event of being turned against his will. Am I misunderstanding something? Did Daniel actually really still want this as an old man and begged Armand to turn him and be his dad off camera to explain his feeling of betrayal? Anger, sure of course, but betrayal? From Daniel's perspective, Armand is no one but a crazy evil vampire who has tortured him. Their bond should be completely one sided by this point until Armand reveals more information.

But even if I am missing details about the Daniel/Armand thing, Daniel's lines as still very cringy in this season of television. And that's my two cents. Is it just me and my husband who feel this way?

Just for Fun Headcanons for the Adult Belcher Children

Not sure if this is the right flair but here I go! Hope this makes people smile.

As a comfort show, like many I often think of how the Belcher kids will end up in adulthood. I know a lot of people do this, but here's what I've personally landed on so far:

Gene drops out of community college when he can't focus during lectures and instead pursues the long dead art of local radio hosting. He lives at home for a couple years post high school, but, after the startling image of being brought a butter dinner in bed by his mommy, Gene boldly takes the opportunity to rent out a room in Teddy's apartment to finally feel like a big boy while not going too far. Teddy is thrilled, but they occasionally fight over leftovers missing from the fridge and being too loud at night. In his free time Gene writes songs in the vein of Wolves of Glendale and the funk genre. On weekends he attends open mic nights and falls head over heels for a comedienne who light-heartedly mocks his song and makes him want to do better. He invites her to be his occasional co-host for the radio show and their chemistry makes it a local hit! They fall mutually in love on air and eventually she convinces him to take on the modern world of podcasting. For every sponsor Gene insists on writing a new jingle for them, even if the brand already has some. They are very happy and are constantly at Bob and Linda's or Linda is following Gene around while he works because her son is a star! Gene's partner and Linda are both big personalities and occasionally butt heads but mostly get along.

Tina is extremely similar to myself at her age, though she's more confident than I ever was. I think Tina successfully makes her way through college, likely community college but possibly Rutgers, Sarah Lawrence, or Seton Hall. She is not a natural academic but discovering herself surrounded by her peers is exactly what she craves, so she does what she has to get her degree. She dates a lot, discovering she's a very appealing young woman now that she's in a new environment. While Tina wants true love and to settle down eventually, her focus is on whirlwind romances and enjoying the company of peers who understand her. After being in an awkward, tumultuous, confusing, but mostly wholesome throuple with Jimmy Jr. and Zeke in high school, dating now feels simple. She's in lots of clubs and works a part time job to pay her way through school. Sometimes she's a waitress, a camp counselor, a babysitter, etc. She always comes home for the holidays and helps around the restaurant. After a heartbreak right before winter break with a soft boy who plays guitar [poorly] and has some unresolved mommy issues, Tina finds herself laying on the floor of the Bob's Burgers kitchen depressed, only to see a grown up Zeke staring down at her. He asks if he can join. Turns out after Tina and Jimmy Jr. left for college, Zeke had no other prospects and Bob offered him a job at the restaurant as an assistant chef. Zeke makes tips and lives in the basement for free. They reconnect and have a serious slow burn long distance friends to romance. Tina becomes an elementary school teacher, teaching language arts, and finds success publishing a series of children's chapter books with a horse main character named Jericho. However, on the side Tina has formed a following writing romance novels under the online pseudonym D.B. Prancer.

Louise could not stand the idea of attending another 2-4 years of school, so she convinced her parents just how successful and busy she could be staying home. Louise insists she can make Bob's Burgers filthy rich. Bob tries to patronize her, but can't handle any of her suggestions and begs her to stop. Louise, now with shockingly no plan for her future, starts internally panicking. She was always the clever one, the one with the plan, but both her older siblings have found themselves fairly confident in their life goals and have left her behind. While dramatically skulking in a bar she got into with a fake ID, not to drink just to feel like a rebel. She hears the aggressive whispering of Felix Fishoeder calling her from the shadows. She approaches him cautiously, wondering what his deal is, and is whisked away into a speakeasy below the bar. Calvin Fishoeder greets her with a dramatic flair, perhaps spinning around in a throne. Louise points out they're supposed to be dead and the Fishoeder brothers explained they faked their deaths for tax reasons and need a front man to run their shadier businesses. Louise, as a surprisingly intimidating 18 year old, feels like the perfect fit to get things done without suspicion from the authorities. Louise does her job and does it well, her parents wondering where she's getting all this money from, but they don't need to know. But when the little guy needs help, Louise uses her power for good, making sure no one gets hit too hard by the mystery landlords she works for. But after seeing too many struggling people, Louise quits and decides to use her talents fighting the power instead. She goes into local politics, protests, campaigning for candidates who help working class people and small business owners like her parents, and maybe one day, run for mayor herself.

Salt Spice Update! (Spice Your Life Challenge)

When Salt Met Vincent - Generation 1

Salt instantly fell for Vincent de Belcourt while exploring Melino's beach and introducing herself to the locals. He looked so stuffy compared to her lax beachy girl aesthetic, but she found him to be a surprising Jester who was just as Good at Cooperation as her. After many awkward nights chatting that went on too long, she finally succeeded in making her affections known and getting them reciprocated. Shout out to the Paralives animator(s) for the kissing passionately and slow dance animations because I was absolutely enamored by these stills, especially that close up (aaahhhh). They have moved in together! No intimacy beyond kissing yet, but it's okay that they are taking things slow. (Also might be a mod issue, looking into it.)

But now that he's a member of the household, this young man needs a makeover. (I also have the Sims 2 personality mod that adds additional personality options that gives more want options.) Images included: the before, a blonde tips jump scare, a John Lennon jump scare, and the after. Vincent felt a lot more relaxed living with Salt and was able to be a bit more himself, less stuffy. For his Aspiration traits (the Sims 2 personality mod I mentioned) I chose Pleasure as his primary based on his base traits and Fortune based on his backstory of coming from a relatively wealthy family.

As Requested: The "Spice Your Life" Legacy Challenge Rules!

THE “SPICE YOUR LIFE” LEGACY CHALLENGE

Main Goal

Continue your Spice family legacy until you have a generation for every spice/seasoning in your cupboard! Start with one para inspired by the spice of your choice. I highly recommend beginning with Salt Spice, as the most foundational seasoning in any cupboard, but technically any spice in your cupboard will do. The challenge ends when every spice in your kitchen has been represented.

Gameplay Rules

  1. Choose Ricardo III as your Storyteller. Non-household paras should age alongside your household. Change twins to 10% and triplets to 5%. Your para may use the bathroom and eat while at work, as I personally don't understand why they wouldn't. Choose your difficulty level by deciding the following: begin homeless with 0 Paradimes in your pocket for an extra challenge, or buy a place with the base 30,000 Paradimes and delete all furniture (not including kitchen and bathroom necessities) and use the setmoney cheat to reset their funds. For more difficulty set their money to 0 Paradimes or for less set it to what they had left after purchasing.
  2. All Life Goals your para gets become your priority. I recommend the “Life Goals Deck is Always Available” mod to keep replacing any Life Goals who have already completed. (As I am typing this the latest game update has broken the mod so stay tuned to the workshop for updates.) Of course this is a legacy challenge, so you fail the challenge if you run out of generations before you do spices, so keep romance in the back of your mind.
  3. Unless your current Spice has the “Good At Romantic Relationships” Social Perk, you may not knowingly pursue a para already in a romantic relationship. Once discovered your potential paramour isn’t single, you must end the romance and seek a new partner.
  4. If you succeed at love, or just trying for a baby, the following rules apply to the next generation: The next Spice must be a) in your kitchen, b) applicable to the newborn para (i.e. pale features could be white pepper, salt, etc. versus dark features could be pepper, cloves, etc., red hair could be paprika, blonde hair can be turmeric or curry powder, green eyes can be dill or oregano, etc.), and c) your next generation Spice cannot share any personality traits with their parent. If Salt is an “Early Bird,” then their child Black Pepper must be “Normal” or a “Night Owl.” As different as possible.
  5. As you continue to play, choosing paramours based on features will become more important as you go on to make all spices possible. It is permitted to create townie paras for your Spice to run into and have a meet cute if your options grow thin. It is heavily encouraged to make twins and triplets related spices when possible, such as twins Hot Paprika and Smoked Paprika, or triplets Basil, Oregano, and Parsley Flakes (Italian Seasoning.) Get creative!

Any mods that get your creative juices flowing and don’t interfere with the rules are allowed!

This is my first ever self-made challenge, so if you have any fun ideas to make things more interesting, please let me know! Get spicy!

Meet Salt! - My Spice Your Life Challenge

I have decided legacy gameplay is my favorite in Paralives as the game is currently. So I have started a new game where the goal is to play as every spice in my cupboard for each generation, starting with Salt Spice! She's sporty, loves the beach, and is a natural cook. She's looking to make friends and start a family. I'm using Ricardo III as the Storyteller, but with my own rules. I have to delete all the existing furniture besides the bathroom and kitchens in the place I move into and reset my money using the setmoney cheat to what it was when I bought the place. I have to try to achieve every goal and have a mod that makes the Life Goals card pack always available if I need a new one. Only paras that have the Good at Romantic Relationships social perk can pursue knowingly unavailable paras, no intentional homewreckers! Let's see how it goes!

Bad at Self Promo & Other Modern Necessities

I have been writing since I was a child. Some years ago I made the wonderful accomplishment of finishing my first real book. I painted the cover, got an editor, and everything. Self published through Amazon. Then as I started the second book in the planned trilogy I quickly realized my writing skills had improved so much and my first book wasn't a strong enough foundation to support the rest of the series. No one really read my first book anyway other than friends and family, so I removed it from Amazon and have been editing it and improving it. I'm feeling really good about it. But as I edit it I think about how I can better serve my work when properly finished. I'm not a social media expert, I'm not a marketing genius, I'm broke, and, frankly, scared.

My husband thinks I should have some clever and consistent promotion campaign here on reddit. I have a campaign idea I like and feels smart and it would only take some of my friends to volunteer a short bit of their time. Other than that, I'm stumped. I'm not even sure I want to use KDP again.

What advice do you have for getting your work out there, promoting it, publishing it or self publishing it, and actually getting people to engage with the material and see it as an option? I've been told I'm a good writer and I'm much better than I was the first time around. But being a good writer isn't enough anymore. So what worked for you?

Quick! Name My Ghastly Babies!

Memoira just gave birth to twin boys alongside her husband Arthur. This is a very alternative family unit living in a creepy Victorian manor. I need to figure out where to put these babies as I did not expect twins, but first I need to name them! What spooky, gloomy, jester names suit these new additions to the Ghastly family?

Edit: For reference, their older children are named Conan and Corona.

My Masterpiece! ... Completed?

SUCCESS!

After some helpful advice and encouragement from my fellow players on this subreddit, I have made a porch roof that stays and have uploaded Ghastly Manor to the Steam Workshop!

Ghastly Manor: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3760534949

The Ghastlys: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?source=Facepunch.Steamworks&id=3760609117

Arthur Ghastly has only one priority: his beautiful wife Memoira. Arthur would traverse every secret tunnel and discover every star, to make her happy, and he's actively working on it. He has built her the most haunted home possible to raise their children in and live the life of their nightmares. This Victorian inspired manor has everything: a wrap-around porch with a roof that stays in place, a built-in bookshelf winding staircase, a white tiger lounge and secret tunnel access living room, a cactus-themed family room perfectly spiky for children (also with secret tunnel access), a cozy kitchen featuring a dinette and horrifying clown fridge, a secret study with a friend to keep you company as you work, and the original property owner's skeleton is still around to share a meal with. The best feature? This lot is perfectly placed across the street from the hospital graveyard for romantic night strolls or if the kids need time outdoors to play. Conan and Corona have perfectly personalized bedrooms and even Memoira's niece Sandy has done what she can to brighten up her new spooky bedroom. To use the secret tunnels you must download the Secret Tunnels Mod to reset them after placing the lot and the Debug Mod to have access to them in Build Mode.

Please let me know if there are any glitches so I can update the build for everyone. Now to restart my computer because testing this over and over has caused some serious lag! Happy playtesting, everyone!

My Masterpiece ... Ruined!

I spent hours upon hours building a spooky, unusual Victorian style manor for my alternative family inspired by the Addams and the Munsters. And I did it! I'm very proud of my work and took a million photos to have it up on the gallery. Only one problem, when you restart the game or download the house from your library, the wrap-around porch roof vanishes. Roofing in Paralives EA is not great right now and the amount of finessing I had to do to make it happen was enough to get paid. Anyway, debating if I upload the house to the gallery anyway or wait for this bug to be fixed. Wanted to share my creation anyway as I am quite proud of myself. What do you think?

P.S. Hate how steam workshop makes you butcher the quality of the in-game photos you take in order to upload them. Let me show off my beauty unpixelated!
