Memories of August 19-21 1991

Does anybody remember what was aired on august 19-21 in 1991 on tv specifically about the events taking place in Tallinn?

I remember rushing to a friend's house to see what finnish tv (he had a PAL converter) was showing as soon as I saw tanks roll into the city, I wanna find that broadcast that I was watching but I havent found it yet from yle archives, it was almost entirely in finnish.

The broadcast showed btr-80/60 or similar vehicles rolling into the city, there was some finnish reporter who was not present at the scene in estonia, masses of people were shown too. So far Ive seen 5 clips but theyre not the ones I saw ( I hope its not a mandela effect, same with ms estonia footage from finnish tv)

By the 1920s-1930s, the region produced up to three quarters of Estonia’s onions, with onions shipped by boat to Tartu and exported even to Finland. On places, where good farmland was scarce, onion growing became so important that old sources called them “Peipsi’s yellow gold.” The locally selected onion populations are still a big part of the region’s culture today.

The Old Believers were Russian Orthodox Christians who rejected 17th century church reforms and fled religious persecution in Russia, with many eventually settling along the western shore of Lake Peipsi.

Best/most authentic alcoholic drinks from each baltic state?

A friend of mine from Finland is going on a baltic trip and kind of collects various alcoholic beverages around the world like rakija etc, hes interested in stuff you couldnt get elsewhere.

For example for Estonia I thought of handsa, for Latvia even though its not traditional I immediately thought of Lode and džons.

What beverages should he try out? Which are the most authentic / historically tied to the region?

Why are wisdom tooth removals in the US so often done under general anesthesia?

i see a lot of videos on tiktok where people seem super high or drugged after wisdom tooth removals. is heavy sedation actually the standard procedure?

ive had about 10 dental surgeries in total and have always only had local anesthesia (europe). all 4 of my wisdom teeth got removed in batches of 2 and they were horizontally impacted so they had to be crushed. i was awake throughout the whole procedure and had an exam on the same day both times (recovered fast).

just curious why it seems so common to put people completely or partially under for this over there. Is it more like a choice or the standard?

Requests for fun maps

I'm a CS major (former) and I've been obsessed with geography for the past 10-15 years.

I've got a relatively small quiz site for which costs are almost zero, looking for opinion. What kinds of quizzes would y'all enjoy? (will implement interesting ones and include the reddit handle/link for ppl suggesting).

I just recently stumbled upon Jack's videos and noticed that the site kind of has a similar theme - stuff like drawing borders from memory etc.

Absolutely everything on the site is free ofc. No leaderboards etc tho, just for fun
