A tree fell on our car 🙃

Last night a tree was struck by lightning and came down, it also hooked a few other trees/branches on the way down. It landed on the car! Mostly all of thr damage is on the front (bumper, passenger headlight, hood, side mirror has minor scratches. Then worst part is the photos 3,4, and 5) the roof rail (or a pillar?) Is all messed up.

Insurance said we pay the deductible and then they pay the remainder. Im wondering how severe the damage is. (I have to call insurance back this morning and the auto body shop they recommended but I just wanted to get some input from here to!)

Cars a 2017 Hyundai sonata with 104k miles

Think insurance will consider it totaled?

2017 Hyundai sonata sport. Had lightning strike the tree! It snapped and took a few other branches with it. Insurance told me I could remove the branches if we could do so safely and if we wouldnt do any more damage to the car in the process. Someone helped us with a chain saw.

Damage is as followed in the photos!

The front bumper, hood, headlight and then the roof rail on the driver side is all messed up! Insurance said we have to pay $500 deductible and then they pay the rest and figure out a rental for us. Im wondering with body shop prices, if they'd consider it totaled? We still owe 10k on it! (With interest)

First Big Update on My Sim Racing Game Inspired by NR2003!

https://reddit.com/link/1tcib6l/video/8q4981oa101h1/player

Hey everyone! Last time I posted here, i had a car I could barely control, and the car overall felt very arcadish. Today, I FINALLY have the player car feeling more realistic, and some surprises! The link below is the actual video (its 4 minutes to long so I cant upload it here 😞 ) But, you can check that video out for the full update! I'll be posting all update videos there! (I'm posting here because a lot of people were asking about the game, and I didn't have any other way to update anyone at that time, now I'm using my youtube!

Anyway, enjoy this short video below! And if you have time check out the link! My next step, is to get the ai cars dialed in to react and act more like NR2003 ai! (The actual video has timestamps so you can jump around, i was in way to much of a hurry putting the video together so i apologize!

So before I begin, this is a "fun community type project " ive been working on. I love NR2003, dont get me wrong! This project is inspired by NR2003. (It has some ties to NR2003 which is why im posting this here)

A month or so ago I posted about changing NR2003 and modifying the exe to add or remove features. After realizing that could get me in hot water with iracing, I decided to shift focus to creating my nascar style game using NR2003 as my inspiration.

(Note: I am not using any code from NR2003! I AM ONLY using the gen 4 cup car from NR2003 until I finish making my generic stock car in blender! )

Now, this project may get a lot of negativity when I tell you this. I know absolutely nothing about coding. But I do know how to use blender, photoshop, and gimp very well. So I wanted to see if it was possible to use AI to help me code while I play test and create everything graphically. This has been a project mainly from curiosity to see what AI can do. A lot pf people have told me this project "has no passion" because im using AI. BUT its far from a passionless project. I sometimes spend upwards of 5 or 6 hours a day working on this! I have a literal developer team of ai and myself! Its been a fun project and I finally have a car that can drive on a track and it feels similar to NR2003!

We are using the pacejka tire physics (which most Sims use) and we are slowly adding in other physics and features!

The generic smoke and sparks are there for now but im working on actual smoke.

Uo next in this update:

Crash damage

Faster speeds (trying to replicate this track as something like bristol)

Working on physics as we continue editing everything

Add an AI or 2 and test them out.

I have SO many features ill be adding but I have been fighting for a few weeks on getting the car driving correctly. Heres a video for you!
