Math of Hydrogen2030

Got it — let’s run quick back-of-the-envelope math for Amazon in 2030 with 400k forklifts + rocket launches.

400,000 hydrogen forklifts

Assumptions:

Each forklift uses ∼1 kg H2 per day

Operates 300 days/year

Electrolyzer efficiency: ∼55 kWh per kg H2

H2 needed:

400,000 \text{ forklifts} \times 1 \text{ kg/day} \times 300 \text{ days} = 120,000,000 \text{ kg/year}

That’s 120,000 metric tons H2/year

Power needed:

120,000,000 \text{ kg} \times 55 \text{ kWh/kg} = 6.6 \text{ TWh/year}

That’s 6.6 TWh/year, or a ∼750 MW solar/wind farm running 24/7.

For context: 6.6 TWh = yearly output of ∼2 Hoover Dams, or power for ∼600k US homes.

Blue Origin New Glenn launches

Assumptions:

Upper stage uses ∼70 metric tons liquid H2 per launch

1 launch per week by 2030 = 52 launches/year

H2 needed:

52 \text{ launches} \times 70,000 \text{ kg} = 3,640,000 \text{ kg/year}

That’s 3,640 metric tons H2/year

Power needed:

3,640,000 \text{ kg} \times 55 \text{ kWh/kg} = 200 \text{ GWh/year}

About 23 MW continuous.

Combined 2030 total

H2: ∼124,000 metric tons/year

Power: ∼6.8 TWh/year

Solar needed: ∼4-5 GW of panels, covering ∼20,000 acres

Bottom line: Forklifts dominate the math. Rockets are only ∼3% of H2 demand here. The real challenge is 6+ TWh of new renewables + electrolyzers just for the warehouse fleet.

That’s roughly what Plug Power is trying to build out with its hydrogen network.

Want me to add Amazon’s hydrogen trucks into the math too?

Topsoe Learns Solid Oxide Doesn’t Work

When you learn Solide Oxide doesn’t fly Topsoe will “hibernate” its seven-month-old, EU-subsidised solid oxide electrolyser factory in Denmark, citing weak hydrogen demand.
The decision comes less than two months after the Danish technology group announced a strategic reviewinto how it would commercialise the green hydrogen technology.
As part of the move, the company plans to validate large-scale manufacturing at its 500MW Herning factory, which opened last Octoberwith support of a €94m ($109.5m) EU Innovation Fund grant, and then “hibernate” the facility until demand improves.
In the near term, the firm intends to “commercialise” the technology through “key partnerships,” specific development, and demonstration projects.
Topsoe has also officially abandoned plans for a second solid oxide electrolyser factory in the US, which was also set to benefit from $136m in federal tax credits.
CEO Elena Scaltritti said “slower-than-expected” development in clean hydrogen markets, combined with global market uncertainty, was behind the decision.

PEM wins again

Uzbekistan Hydrogen

I’m working with r/Hydrogen2030 to promote Hydrogen and Uzbekistan to foreign Investors !!!
$Plug will be signing a Green Hydrogen 2400 megawatts that makes ME and my investors millions

Who knows the #420 story and #Irony of $4.20 EU Subsidy per 420 kilograms production per megawatt per day ???

My $4.20 stock price coming ??

And when 420% per year prints ??

It’s always about 4-20-2026 and Where we Close 4/20/2030 ??

\#Hydrogen420 going #Hydrogen2030
