About your first 50/50 as a new player

Note : This is a half rant-half discussion post.

I have been playing this game for ~2 weeks by now. Although I dislike a few things about this game, I admit that this game still has its own charms.

My first experience pulling in this game, however, is very far from pleasant. That is, still no Remielle in sight even after ~150 pulls and losing the first 50/50 to a certain flying maid (I heard that she's not bad, but still). I can't even imagine how awful it'd feel to lose a 75/25 later when pulling for her engine.

Consequently, getting polychromes to do the final 30 pulls before the banner ends has been more bothersome rather than fun lately.

This got me thinking : why can't HoYo or other gacha developers in general give new players some sort of a "one free pass" to win their first 50/50? You know, to leave a better impression on new players? I mean, surely this won't hurt their sales that much right? and new players will have a better impression on their game, so it's a win-win?

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that they should get rid of the 50/50. After all, it's their business model and every business wants to make money.

TLDR : Why can't gacha developers just let new players win their first 50/50 to leave a better impression on them?

What do you focus on to get polychromes most efficiently?

I'm a relatively new player.

Long story short, I spent my hard-earned first ~110 pulls on Remielle only for a certain maid to pop out instead. (contemplated to stop playing the game for this and a few other reasons, but decided to not quit...yet)

As I was looking at the polychrome tracker to save up again, I saw that hollow zero offers the most polychromes compared to other sources (~16k polychromes).

So, should I focus on hollow zero for the best efficiency? or should I just keep doing the main quest/side quests for now?

I thought that I probably shouldn't invest too much on the "off-meta" agents, so I've been slacking on things like combat simulations and discs farming. So, the most "leveled up" agents I have are Lv 30 Nicole & Lucia, and Lv 20 Anby & Billy. Other than that, I haven't done anything.

I'm very impressed with how good GL is

I'm very impressed with how good GL is at making me too unmotivated to play the game.

A few moments ago, I glued a run in senior year just before URA finale because my cards decided they are too good to give me friendship trainings for the umpteenth time.

Looking back at it, my first impression with MANT wasn't this bad. Despite the deck & aptitude "restriction", at least I was still excited to try things out during the early days of MANT.

Qingxiao-Lynae-Suisui team?

I'm a new-ish player who's planning on getting Qingxiao. Currently, I only have Lynae S0R0 as the only notable 5☆ (on top of Verina). I wonder if I should get Suisui (if I win the 50/50, that is) to make a Qingxiao-Lynae-Suisui team? (I don't know who's good with who yet)

I'm not exactly a hyper competitive player, so I'll be satisfied if the team is at least "okay".

Errors with sending Yahoo emails ["Message can't be saved as draft" error]

Note : Sorry if this is not the most appropriate sub for this question. I can't seem to find a better active sub than this sub to ask for help. (r/Yahoo seems dead as the last post was 10 days ago and the second last post was ~5 months ago)

I have a problem with my Yahoo email which makes me unable to send an email with and without attachments.

When I attached a file, it loads for a moment before turning to an exclamation mark with a "Message can't be saved as draft" error. Even if I don't have any attachments, it says "An error occured while sending this message".

Some clarifications:

  1. This is on windows and google chrome (and Dell laptop, if it's important)

  2. This happened only recently and suddenly. I used it normally up until now.

  3. The problem is not with the file size or name as I have checked that. The file is just a few hundreds KB pdf.

  4. I have also checked the typical suggestions from the internet like wifi connections, using incognito, clearing cache, etc. They don't seem to work.

There aren't really many helpful resources regarding this error, so I thought I could ask for some help here.

For now, I'm using my gmail as a workaround.

Any merits in using GPT?

I'm considering to just uninstall GPT from my phone to free up space since it's practically useless now (i.e., I'm not using it as often anymore)

But I thought I should ask first: are there still any merits left in using GPT?

I mean, to be fair, it's not so bad for a "glorified search engine" or for technical stuffs, but gemini pretty much does the job without the attitude.

Yes, I know I can just install it again later if I need it, but I'd rather not install-uninstall it repeatedly.

How to recognize a bad echo roll?

So, I'm finally starting to learn echo tuning. However I'm still not sure on what is considered a good roll, especially for dps. I kind of know that you'll want crit rate/dmg for your dps, but not sure on what should you aim for the other substats.

For example, I attached the image of the crownless I tried tuning for havoc Rover. Is this considered a "decent" roll? This is obviously not an ideal roll, but I wonder if it's at least like a 6/10.

Edit : Thanks for the guidance, everyone. I didn't know they will actually highlight the useful stats. Back to the grind it is then.

A Question about SOL3 Ascension

I'm a relatively new player. I've been stuck at UL40 for some time now (so much that I have ~40k exp out of the 10k exp needed) because I don't have the means to do the SOL3 ascension. Mostly because I have been relying a lot on the trial Changli, which made me slack on leveling a third character for the team.

My current notable characters are Lv 60 Rover and Lv 50 Lynae (my other two team members), and base Sanhua and Verina (and Lv 40 4☆ Yangyang and Chixia, if they're important).

So, what do you think is the best way to continue with the ascension without wasting my resources? I've thought of some ways:

  1. Level Sanhua up to replace the trial Changli

  2. Level Verina up to replace the trial Changli

  3. Wait until I pull a better character in future banners

  4. A completely different approach (give your own suggestion)

Two questions about pulling weapons

  1. I've just obtained my first EoG from the standard weapon banner. Which one should I focus on next? The pistols (for my Lynae)? or another EoG (because I noticed that there are many sword-wielding resonators)? For context, I have zero other 5☆ weapons (except the sword cantarella gave you during the main quest, if that counts?). I do have some 4☆ though.

  2. When exactly do you need to pull for someone's signature weapon? And can you actually get a character with their signature weapon at once? I mean, if we assume 80 pulls on both banners, you require ~26k astrites, which is...a lot.

Some random questions as a new player (ft. A very bad first pull experience)

Long story short, I've been playing for ~2 weeks and have just dumped my first 20k astrites savings for Lynae after I heard many good things about her.

I have some questions :

  1. I was planning to get Shorekeeper from the new player banner at first. However, I don't think I can realistically gather enough tides again to get her before the banner ends. Will she ever rerun again?

  2. I'm looking to get Hiyuki (who's rumored to rerun soon) and/or Qingxiao after this for the dps. Would this be a good idea after getting Lynae? For the support, I only have the free Verina.

Extra questions:

I lost my Lynae 50/50 (but I got her after a few more pulls) to Lingyang. I often saw this "lion boy" in pull memes. Is he really that bad? Why?

Also, I'm looking for guides/resources which will tell me typical infos like how to determine who is good with who, which echoes to use, and the likes from the basics. I don't think game8 or wutheringlab explain things from the basics, so I'm looking for alternatives.

A Few Questions about Pulls and Leveling Up

I've been playing this game for almost a week now and I have a few questions:

  1. I noticed that lustrous tides are very hard to come by. Is this actually normal? I read that you shouldn't convert astrites to them, so I've just been using whatever amount of lustrous tides they gave me.

  2. Are there any good estimates of how fast should you be getting astrites to ensure a pity? For example, after 5-7 days, I'm currently sitting at ~6k astrites. Not sure if this is good or slow?

  3. Is it recommended to level up the non 5☆ basic resonators (e.g. the rover-yangyang-chixia initial team) and the 3☆/4☆ weapons to progress the main story? I feel like I should save the resources for better characters/weapons, but if I'm not progressing the story, then I can't get more astrites easily, which means I can't pull for better characters/weapons. As a context, I'm currently at the Mt. Firmament storyline, which seems to require my resonators to be around Lv. 50~55 to stand a chance.

About GPT's storywriting capabilities

The image shows a snippet of a short story I told GPT to write based on my prompt.

So, why exactly does the current model love those kind of one-liners when writing stories? I compared it to a past 4.0 archived chat and.....well, let's just say that this current model is very, very lazy (and dry) when it comes to writing stories.

How much do they like this game to go this far?

The pictures are the profiles of the players with the UF umas (from the dream team event).

As you can see, the number of careers done are.....ridiculously high (obviously from trying to highroll with guts deck). I have been playing since the first kitasan banner and only have slightly more than 900, yet they easily have more than several times my completed careers.

I just wonder how much do they like this game and how often exactly do they play to complete so much careers.

The extent of how much GPT doesn't want to agree with you

I noticed that even when GPT agrees with you, it has to invent something so that it doesn't 100% agree. The chat goes approximately like this nonsense:

User : I think [something] is bad in [a situation] because [reasons].

GPT : I think it's a solid view, but I'd like to push back slightly because [reasons for completely different and irrelevant hypothetical situations the user didn't even mention]. But for your [the user's situation & reason], I think it's an acceptable view.

GPT just can't seem to agree with the user

The title says it, really.

Whatever I say to it, it has to debate the topic. It just has to "push back".

Even when it agrees, it attacks my wording/phrasing in the guise of "reframing" or "polishing".

It's kind of amazing how much GPT has declined in quality since 4.0 a year ago.

Low guts for CM16 (?)

Long story short, I simply don't have the patience to grind this accursed scenario anymore, let alone with guts deck (guts deck can go to hell) which is rumored to be the norm for the 2nd Leo cup.

How detrimental would low guts (say, ~600-700) in this CM be, assuming maxed speed, power, wit?

For context, I'm not exactly looking to get platinum. I'll be satisfied with group B finals.

GPT is a contrarian (?)

So, sometimes, I tell GPT an opinion or a random passing thought.

However, I noticed a trend that all of GPT's response is basically "Correct, but ....". No matter what the prompt is, it just seem it has to 90% agree but still fault it.

Not that I'm demanding it to be a sycophant, since I did ask what it thought about the prompt. But no matter how much I argue and rebuke its counterpoints, it just has to find a fault somewhere. It's pretty annoying, honestly.

A very baffling thing

Sometimes I really can't help but be more convinced that the cards are actively trying to sabotage the run when this kind of thing happen.

It's very baffling that four cards of the same type can just decide to gather on the wrong training instead of their supposed training.

"Conversation not found" bug

I use the temporary chat feature a lot for prompts or questions which are meant to be brief.

However, I noticed that every once in a while, it just won't continue with a "conversation not found" error.

Honestly, this is rather annoying. The guardrail is one thing, but this is honestly such a pathetic flaw.

LoH for non-front users?

From what I've heard, front runners will dominate LoH.

So, as someone who won't be focusing on front runners, this got me thinking : in order to do well in LoH, does this mean we should still somewhat invest in front cards? (E.g. by getting Smaru speed and/or bourbon wit from the anniv selectors). Or can you still do just as well with pace?
