Fények Budapest (és környéke) fölött

Más is érzékelte közületek a fényeket Budapest fölött?

A fények élénk kék színűek voltak, több kombinációban, formában világítva haladtak a városból "kifelé" a felhők alján.

Strange “alien” wordplay in Taken (2002) and aliens.gov ... Coincidence or pattern?

I noticed something interesting while watching Taken (Year: 2002, Episode 5, around 45 min).

There’s a car in the background with bumper stickers including:

  • “Keep our borders standing”,
  • “Keep illegal aliens out”,
  • “This is Reagan Country”.

What stood out to me is the use of the word "alien*"* in a layered way.

We also saw the recent aliens.gov material, which appears to use similar ambiguity in how the word “alien” is framed.

Additional interesting fact that there’s also a Reagan reference that appears elsewhere in the series via an archival speech shown on a TV in the background, where he talks about humanity potentially uniting in the face of an external non-human threat.

Taken together, it made me wonder:
Is this just coincidence, or does “alien” function as a recurring cultural concept that sits between two meanings:

  • extraterrestrial “other”,
  • human “outsider”.

I’m not arguing there’s any direct connection between the show and current government messaging.

I’m more curious whether others see this as a recurring linguistic, cultural pattern, or just random overlap.

---

Curious if others have noticed similar uses of “alien” across media.

The upcoming Spielberg film "Disclosure Day" makes this even more interesting and relevant (by the way, Taken also bears Spielberg's handprint).

What are your thoughts on these?

Looking for stroller recommendations for a short mom (150 cm / 4’11”) + tall dad combo

Hi everyone! 😊

We’re expecting our first baby and looking for stroller recommendations for a shorter mom. I’m 150 cm (4’11”) while my husband is tall, so we’re trying to find a stroller that’s comfortable for both of us.

What’s important for us:

  • lightweight and compact (preferably 3-in-1),
  • small enough to fit well in a car,
  • easy to fold and maneuver,
  • suitable from newborn stage.

We’d really appreciate specific brand and model recommendations from real-life experience.

Thank you so much in advance! 🙏
