I designed this model a few months ago and last week a client asked for a 6ft (1:72) version!

This is my Blue Origin New Glenn 9x4 rocket model. The first one I finished is a 1:200 version, but last week a client asked for a 1:72 scale version which came out taller than me!

My colleague and I designed these from reference art and then 3D printed them in resin. I painted and decalled the 1:200 scale myself but the client wanted to paint the 1:72 scale themselves so I haven’t seen it finished yet - however I may just have to do one for myself! 😂

We’ve just finished our next Rocket: Starship V3 so now I have to paint that up and I’ll post about that when it’s done! (Lots of chrome spray paint I think!)

How I presented my wife’s birthday present vs how it came

I think this is a much nicer presentation than how this locket came (in a little paper envelope). Fit very nicely on the first try with a space cavity for the excess chain behind it - only fiddly bit was keeping the chain in the cavity rather than sliding down the box under the part.

If I were to do it again I’d probably make the cavity a pocket for the chain so I didn’t have that issue again. I’d probably choose a nice deep green or blue too.
