Hi folks, I wanted to share an action network letter being sent to Sound Transit. Save Ballard Rail has a lofty goal of 90,000 signatures representing the number of daily riders projected to use the Ballard Link Extension.
In a nutshell, we are asking Sound Transit to

Sign it, share it with friends and check out http://saveballardrail.org/ for August's action items!
PS: You can meet folks from Save Ballard Rail at Thursday's monthly meetup at 7 pm at Old Stove Brewing! RSVP here: https://partiful.com/e/Gi2jjwbklU3QAQXKL6fw
Edit: By shuttles, the petition likely means Sound Transit Express buses like the 560 West Seattle-Bellevue or 522 Woodinville-Roosevelt or even shuttles to the airport.
Edit 2: It takes 30 minutes to get from Ballard to Northgate station via the 40, or to U District via the 44, or to Westlake Station via the D line.
This week, the Executive Committee of the Sound Transit Board will be holding an executive session to review CEO Constantine's performance. If you have opinions, drop them here!
Can anybody provide a breakdown of the sales tax in Seattle? What public services do they fund? What financial tools does Seattle and King County have for funding things in the city and county? Any references or links would be greatly appreciated!
Edit:
If you're just going to comment and say I'm lazy, don't bother. Provide helpful answers or leave.
Tax code is not a simple topic.

The gist of the sales tax seems to be that King County Council Member Fain proposed a sales tax increase of 0.1% which will be used to fund unincorporated roads in King County. However, there's a cap of 12.5% on how much can be given per city.

Someone from Brookline Spa Pizza was so awful to a friend of mine today.
One of the staff PARKED the delivery car in the middle of the street for a good 10 minutes and blocked the entire street even though there were a bunch of open parking spaces. When asked to move his car, he told my friend she was a bad driver for not driving on the curb to pass his car and then said "This isn't India". Besides the fact it's racist af, my friend is also American.
I'm visiting from another city and is this really how people here act here? I'm just pissed and wanted to vent.
Some folks are hosting a satirical funeral procession for Ballard Light Rail on Thursday, 12 pm. Procession starts at 5th and Yesler and goes to Union Station.
Wear black, bring epitaphs, and spend time mourning the hopes and dreams of public transit advocates for a comprehensive light rail system that reaches all parts of the city.
What Can I Do to Save Ballard Rail?
The Sound Transit Board meeting where Ballard Rail will likely be indefinitely deferred is at 1:30 pm at Union Station. Leave a public comment for the board meeting (virtual, in-person or written). Memes are highly encouraged as it's fun to hear the speaker describe them. You can also call the mayor and king county executive.
