Where to do karaoke in Antigua Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon?

Barrio has it Wednesdays starting at 8:30 but my friends aren't feeling it tonight.

Good showing at the meetup Tuesday, despite the threat of rain! 18 people at our max!

We started on the covered patio and were at 2 tables since we couldn't all fit at one. Ended up moving to our regular patio later for better conversation though!

Traveling to Antigua with a study abroad program for 2 weeks! Restaurants, cafes, desserts, etc. to check out?!

We've got activities and excursions planned so I'm just kinda looking for basic things to get excited about! I'm conversant in Spanish although not perfectly fluent. Excited to be traveling with someone with local family there!

Are there really distinct differences between Jack Russell terriers and rat terriers?

Grew up with a supposed JRT that the dog training facility told us was probably a rat terrier. Later adopted a rat terrier-looking mix that was DNA-tested to be a JRT-mix, and our other dog that we didn't even suspect had rat terrier in him was actually the one with rat terrier DNA.

If there is a difference, is it just visual? I know rat terriers tend to be taller and JRTs tend to have more wiry hair--but these aren't hard rules.

What about behavioral differences?

Monteverde: Which night tour? Which day tour?

There's the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve and Curi Cancha Reserve, plus others. It seems wrong to do both in the same place but seeing somewhere at night is different from during the day.

Native plant event this Saturday!

Join the North Alabama Native Plants Society for our 6th native plant swap and share! The spring event will be held on Saturday, May 16th, from 10am to 2pm, at Blevins Gap. There will be plants! There will be seeds! There will be plant nerds and ecologically minded friends! Native plants ONLY.

Don't worry if you have nothing to trade! Many people are happy to share or talk plants, so please feel free to attend. Seeds, cuttings, plants, plastic pots, tools, and books are welcome. Plants on the Alabama Invasive list are NOT allowed, NOR are non-native plants. This is a swap/share and NO SALES are permitted. You may bring a table or use your trunk or truck bed for setting up.

We will meet on the north end of the Blevins Gap parking lot, next to Marie's Pollinator Garden. Thank you to the Land Trust of North Alabama for letting us use their space!

I want to do a night tour and a day tour, but there are so many different reserves and parks and properties and such. Plus lots of different guides! How do you choose?

Just a few:

Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve (night walk and natural history walk)

Reserva Curi Cancha (natural history tour, birdwatching tour, night tour)

Bajo del Tigre Trails (guided hikes, group hikes, private hikes, day and night hikes)

Will be driving from SJO to Monteverde and back. Will probably go to La Fortuna and maybe somewhere else too.

I know not to drive after dark due to visibility and road conditions. We have also rented an all-wheel-drive vehicle. But I have never personally driven intentionally.

Also, I saw some talk of rental cars being stolen from--how much of a concern is that?

It will be me (36F) and my mom (70F) I know Costa Rica can be pretty multilingual, but I'm also semi-proficient in Spanish. My mom is not. We will be spending a week in Monteverde before this, but decided to add a few extra days for the capital. Will take recommendations for things to do too!
