PBS Kids show problem

So I’m trying to watch Cyberchase and Dinosaur Train, but for some reason, the episodes don’t seem to play properly. I get they want to use HD footage for them, but the uploads are well… not good.

The Brilliance of Subaru’s Backstory

Once again, I was thinking about Wonderful PreCure and more specifically Subaru’s backstory… and then a video about the cause of extinction of Japan’s wolves came up… and it got me thinking about Subaru’s backstory and the brilliance of it.

You see, Japan has a more positive association with wolves compared to the rest of the world, but during the Meiji Restoration… there was a problem with rabies potentially getting to Japan, and considering the vector of the disease including canines like wolves, this was bad, so sadly, the wolves had to be hunted down to prevent further infections. And yes, while a rabies vaccine was developed around that time, I don’t think it would be possible to get the vaccine to Japan to vaccinate everyone in the country before rabies can get in, the mass hunting of wolves was necessary to protect the country from a deadly disease.

And this is where I believe where Subaru’s backstory comes into play. You have a man who bonded with a pack of wolves around the time of the Meiji period, and of course the hunters were there and Subaru was pissed that he couldn’t save his friends from their deaths. If the hunters explained why they needed to kill the pack, Subaru would go through the cycle of grief and would naturally come understand the hunters’ viewpoint. But no, no explanation was given and Subaru wanted to get vengeance because of his friends’ deaths. A misunderstanding lead to a path of vengeance. It could’ve been avoided if there was proper communication… I love it when the themes of the season is naturally woven to everything about it.

When do you think the Barbie Movies were in decline?

I think we can all agree that the Barbie movies were at their peak in the 2000s, but a question I have is… when did the movies start to decline in quality. Because I think some of the early 2010s movies were good, but still, I feel the drop in quality was after Mermaid Tale 2.
