Is it true that if I have a career interruption, I can't apply for Belgian nationality?

Hello,

I've been hearing very contradictory information, so I'd like to ask people who have had a similar experience.

I have an F card through family reunification. I've been living in Belgium for 5 years now and would like to apply for Belgian nationality.

I started working in 2022, but I was laid off in mid-2025 and was unemployed for about 6 months before finding another job, which I am currently doing.

I've been told that I need 5 continuous years of work with no interruption in order to qualify. However, I've also read elsewhere that having at least 468 working days is sufficient (and I have significantly more than that).

I'm really confused. Could anyone who has gone through a similar situation please share their experience?

Thank you!

Caught Between Career Dreams and Motherhood Expectations?

Hello,

I’m 30 years old, married for a year and a half, and I’ve just found a job in a very big company. But I joined through a consulting firm. The goal, if everything goes well, is to be officially integrated into the big company in two years .

Meaning that to reach that point and for them to want to keep me, I absolutely need to meet their expectations, do excellent work, and convince them. Otherwise, there will be no integration at the end of the mission, and I could lose this company, which is one of the leading firms in the country.

The problem is that my husband is already insisting on having children. For now, we’re waiting for a few things to be sorted out in the next four months, but after that, I know he will seriously want us to start trying, because time is passing and we can’t wait forever.

For him, waiting another two years is out of the question, because he already wanted kids from the beginning, and I was the one who asked for a bit of time so we could get used to each other.

Now, even though we’re not at that stage yet, I feel like I’m going to have to make a difficult decision. I don’t know if the company will be understanding if I get pregnant, because everything might get complicated. Even the integration plan in two years could be affected, and the consulting firm might simply tell me “goodbye”.

Please tell me your experiences and your thoughts about all of this…

How do you stay organized when working with 2 environments (client + employer) on one laptop?

Hello everyone,

My question is for consultants who use a single laptop for both their employer and their client.

What is the most efficient and consistent way to stay organized and avoid confusion when managing two separate environments?

In my case, I have duplicates of everything:

  • two Outlook accounts
  • two Teams environments
  • two SharePoints
  • two Confluence spaces, etc.
  • ...

I sometimes find it challenging to keep things clearly separated and avoid mixing them up.

I would really appreciate any tips, tools, or workflows that have worked well for you in this kind of setup.

Thank you in advance!

What is the difference between a Business and Functional analyst?

Hello everyone.

I'm expecting the following question in an interview and would like to hear the answer from different perspectives as well, can you help please: explain to me the difference between a business Analyst and a functional analyst since they are doing pretty much a very similar role, skills each must have, tools, daily tasks...

Thank you in advance

Hello,

I have a first interview for a function 'Customer Journey Expert' but the job description doesn't say a lot and i'm asking around what the daily tasks look like and more details.

If anybody does the Function i would appreciate some insights.

My current function is a business Analyst but my profile matches many of the pré-requis.

Thank you in advance
